Lee, funny you are doing this as I just setup the same FC on a NanoGoblin. The only difference is I will run using a 2s Li Ion and required a buck regulator to up the voltage to the Vista. One thing to note is you do not require the SBUS to be used unless you are using the DJI Transmitter. Might save some time for anyone else doing this.

Hello the Lee! However , for RC control, I’m using Dragonlink. I’ve been struggling with glitchy servos and overall poor performance of the RC controls. I’ve ruled out a faulty Dragonlink system since I’ve tested three receivers and all behaving the same. Could my problem be with the INAV firmware target I flashed? Meaning, this target is for those who will connect the SBUS cable coming from the DJI air unit but in my build, I’m connecting the SBUS from the Dragonlink receiver. What do you think?
I’ve finally figured out the cause of my problem, I wasn’t my DLv3 system which I feared it was faulty. The culprit was the INAV firmware target I had flashed on the F411WSE. I had flashed a target intended to connect the DJI air unit to the SBUS UART port on the board. I assumed that since I was using the DJI fpv system for my video, that was the target I needed. Hello, I have a matek f411 wing. I've wired it up exactly how you showed on here but the osd isn't showing. I've enabled custom osd in the goggles too but still nothing. Ive tried all the uart ports to output the osd but still no osd. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
Two questions. Is this now working with all the Matek flight controllers (even ones not advertised as being "HD")? (Like the F765 or F722 mini) The other question is whether there is an option in the goggles to record the OSD, not just the camera image? I like the extra security of having the GPS coords on the ground recording for when I have to find the plane after it crashes 2 miles away...
I've setup the DJI kit on lots of Matek flight controllers with no issues. Check out the recent builds with wings for full details. Sadly the telemetry information isn't recorded in the goggles. Another oversight by DJI that they seem uninterested in addressing sadly. If your FC has a blackbox then you can use that, see ua-cam.com/video/LAEaRnkQ9kE/v-deo.html for some ideas of how. Best of luck!
@@Painless360 As I understand it, Blackbox helps after you find the plane, but it doesn't help you find the plane. Is there a straightforward way to separately record the GPS telemetry sent from the air unit (similar to the old IRC iTelemetryFPV, which worked off the audio channel)?

@@Painless360 Hey Lee. Nope. I did as you in one of your videos: have the power of Airunit on a little plug - so I can unplug not to heat it up. Hi Lee, I've just ventured into HD with walksnail. Does this tip apply to the Walksnail HD v2 kit?
You need a full hardware UART for Walksnail OSD... Happy flying
@@Painless360 so I need an f405 FC
Ideally now, yes.
Is there a place for the crossfire in your wiring setup?
I don't think so as there isn't a spare UART from what I can see...
Hello, I have a matek f411 wing. I've wired it up exactly how you showed on here but the osd isn't showing. I've enabled custom osd in the goggles too but still nothing. Ive tried all the uart ports to output the osd but still no osd. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
I'd check that you have the wiring right and not crossed anything. Best of luck.
Two questions. Is this now working with all the Matek flight controllers (even ones not advertised as being "HD")? (Like the F765 or F722 mini)
The other question is whether there is an option in the goggles to record the OSD, not just the camera image?
@@a_mouse6858 record a "log file" in your radio, and you have the datas to know were your plane is.
Being new to inav I watching this video with interest and noticed the the dji uses the sbus pin on f411, my question is how do you configure sbus for the receiver now please
You need to use a DJI FPV controller that acts binds to the Air Unit... best of luck
@@Painless360 Ok Lee, the penny has dropped. Thanks
Hi, i am building the same, connected every thing as in your video but using dji fpv airunit, servos are responding, no osd and no throtal response, can you advise why this could be? Thank you
DJI Air unit connected properly? The motor will not run until the model has a GPS lock and is armed - see ua-cam.com/video/eIO4GCoSvWw/v-deo.html
@@Painless360
Thank you, okay so i have not connected gps so that explains it, but the wiring of FC is correct. But Do I have to use the same version og firmware as in your video? I used the same target as you used but I am using latest inav configurator
I'd use the latest version. Please see my INAV setup mini series if you've missed basic stuff like the GPS and arming... Best of luck
@@Painless360 thank you so much, got it workingperfectly now. Have i more question, can I use OLED display with this setup do you think?
HI MATE ! i need help, i have matek f411-wte and no can connect OSD with dji goggles, i installed the firm and not found.- any solution =)
Depends on how you have connected the air unit to the flight controller, setup the software and what troubleshooting you have already done... See my other videos on DJI setup. This flight controller in the video was a special case.. Best of luck
I am not understanding this setup? Now that you are using the SBUS pin for the Vista, what are you wiring your receiver too??? I am trying to setup an R9MX and cannot get SBUS or FPORT on the TX1 or TX2 pins to work as I also have a Vista and need to use the SBUS pin
You wire the SBUS pin to whatever reciever you have. I was using the DJI fpv controller so the sbus came via the air unit. See my build videos.. happy flying
@@Painless360 OK I am using an X20S radio so essentially I don't need the SBUS port for the vista then?
Yep
@@Painless360 Similar setup in my case, building a 3d printed wing and using an FrSky X8R with sbus to the F411-WTE and the DJI air unit. I know I need B+ & B- but what other connections are required to to get my OSD? I'm assuming RX and TX but you know what they say about assumptions + forums are hit or miss. Am I correct or missing some vital info?
Hey Lee, that's exactly how I did it and it worked. Then after 1 flight it was gone, any idea? I checked the RX tx connectors and the connection is solid.
Ports are still configured.
Osd is a well.
Can soft serial just stop working?
Was there a crash between it working and not?
@@Painless360 Hey Lee. Nope. I did as you in one of your videos: have the power of Airunit on a little plug - so I can unplug not to heat it up.
Between 2 flights I unplugged just the power of Airunit, kept the plane running (and UART TX/RX connection was also on).
Before I wanted to start again I plugged in the power to Airunit and saw now OSD. OK - I need to powercycle I thought - but OSD never came back since then.
This morning I checked everything on the bench. couldnt find a faulty cable.
crosschecked the Airunit (the one from plane works on a copter - showing OSD), another one from a copter (with working OSD there) didnt show OSD on the plane.
Disabled CPU Serial ports in iNav and re-enabled it (to reset?)
double checked that Softserial1 is selected.
closely inspected LED and ST1 solderpads. no problem there (usually my soldering is the problem, but not here)
friend of mine told me he had similar problems with exactly the matek f411 and SS. working the one moment, stopped working the other. sometimes comes back - then freezes in the air...
currently I think about flying with telemetry on my TX16 (and voice alerts) and ordering an matek 405 or similar.
dissapointed.
thanks for your inputs, tips? iNav (and your videos bout it) and the ARWingPro which has your logo!!! are awesome - just this one little thing here ;)
greets, Mario
I've never had that issue here. I have had an air unit stop working with the OSD after a crash as one of the diodes gets damaged - this is pretty common..
@@Painless360 ok, thanks for checking back. I ordered an H743 wing for the ARWingPro and will use this little one in a more suitable small plane (without GPS). greets, Mario
I just got the f411wte do you know if I have to do anything special to get the dji osd to work correctly since this fc is a but different
If it has a soft serial port, it should work fine..
Pretty interesting indeed, Lee! Thanks! 😃
So... Crossfire and analog FPV need to be done the same way?
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Does anyone know how to set this up with inav 6 and wtfos? Cheers.
Thank you for all the useful information on fixed wings, INAV and Matek FCs. You have walked me through multiple issues and I am in the air with a Matek F405 Wing, DJI Air Unit, DJI Remote and DJI Goggles. My latest challenge is that I cannot figure out how to access the INAV menu on the goggles. This limits me greatly when in the field and I cannot load missions as well. Any thoughts or suggestions? I have searched the internet with no luck! Thanks again for all your insight and advise!
Loading a mission should still work - seems to here. I'd check the travel on the radio in the INAV Configurator. The implementation of MSP in the DJI stuff is super basic but Caddx has talked about a canvas mode so that may be better. I'll make a video on it when I get a chance..
@@Painless360 thanks Lee. I was able to make this work with DJI remote Thanks! However… I decided to return the DJI remote and will go with TX16S so I can see the relevant info on my radio. Will follow your lua script video at some point…Dji info was so limited on the osd….
Hello! Would this also work with the new Walksnail air unit and not just dji? Thanks!
Depends on what you are running on the FC. Betaflight supports all HD formats and all that is all about to change in INAV - stay tuned for a video later on INAV 6.0..
@@Painless360 Thank you. I will try to put the GPS on softserial using the LED pad and keep the walksnail system om uart1👍
How to configure Matek F411-WTE, i am using latest INAV
With DJI? See my Dart setup using that FC.. best of luck
@@Painless360 i forgot that i need help with osd in hdzero
Same setup. Best of luck
hello, I bought this fc (f411wte), for a small wing. (HK radjet 800) and I have a question: I wanted to know if with the serial port, the osd works well with the dji fpv googles v1, and if it is reliable? if it has no slowdowns etc.. thank you!
I've not used one yet. Let me know how it works. All of the other Matek flight controllers work great with DJI so I'd expect it to be great...
@@Painless360 ok i hope it works ok ;) thank's.
when my setup are ok and ready i send you a message there. ;) (for the wte)
@@leflamantrosefpv1725 I've got the same FC, wondering if you were able to get F411-WTE to work with the OSD. Thanks.
@@nmrlab3807 I had things to do, and I didn't finish this model. it seems that yes, the serial port would be sufficient to have a functional osd on wte. (an acquaintance made a wing with it, and it seems to work) at worst, if the OSD is slow, you should keep only what is necessary and not put everything on the screen I think.. like for the GPS informations.. the fewer there are, the better it works.
Do you think, that will work with sharkbite HD ZERO top?
I've not tried but if it uses the same MSP telemetry, it should.. Best of luck
@@Painless360 do you know does soft serial UART ST1 pad support Smart Audio on F411-WSE? BTW from HD ZERO manual: All HDZero VTXs supports MSP Canvas mode on Betaflight 4.2.8 or later. It needs a full UART with 115200 baud-rate for MSP communication. Note that a soft serial UART is not supported.
I don't. Let me know if you get it working...
Does hdzero work for anybody with softserial?
i need help. when i set softserial1 to serial rx and dji fpv vtx and then save and reboot the ports tab resets to its defult state. it doesnt happen when i change any other setting in this tab it only happens on this specific one
If you try and set the ports to an invalid configuration it will delete the setup when it reboots. Sounds like that isn't something it supports.. Best of luck!
@@Painless360 what do you mean that isnt something it supports im useing the same flight controller as in the video
Then something is different. Another port setting? Version maybe?
@@Painless360 it might be the software because when flashing it i first got flash complete and then programing failed so i dont know if it worked. also when im trying to flash it once again it shows the bootloader not responding error.
Hello friend, I'm in Brazil, I did this procedure but it didn't work, I use the Mateksys F411 WSE, with the black DJI V1 controller, and DJI V2 glasses! I already did the wftos rack, but the OSD didn't work, teh. any secrets? Remembering that the Mateksys F411 WSE only has 2 UART ports and 2 softserial ports, please help me? I watch all your videos very cool, thank you and have a good day hug
You'll need a hardware UART for the DJI unit. Try swapping the RX and TX lines to the FC. Best of luck
How am I going to change it, given that Uart 1 has the GPS? Is there a way to put the GPS on the softserial port?
Yes, it isn't ideal but it'll work. See my Dart conversion to Walksnail video where I did just that, as I was in exactly the same position!
Ok my freind, I'll do as you say, thanks for your attention, have a great day, hugs
does this have gps and rth
I always setup my INAV planes and wings with them... See my series on inav for beginners.. Happy flying

тема не раскрыта! как подключен приемник? frsky r9mm? sbus теперь занят osd!
I'm not sure what you are asking. The SBUS and Ground pins send the control inputs recieved from the DJI FPV controller and the TX and Rx pins are for the OSD in the DJI HD FPV goggles... happy flying
If you're not using a DJI FPV controller then you connect the SBUS to whatever reciever and radio combo you're using. Best of luck
Can you do another one with walksnail avatar please
See my Walksnail videos on how to set it all up. I've covered the setup a lot already on the channel. Be aware that the only catch is that the AVATAR needs a full UART, it won't run on SoftSerial so you will need to run the GPS on SoftSerial (see my setup on the Dart with Walksnail)...
