Dont know if Inav has it but if you decide to give Ardupilot another try, it has a smart RTH flight mode which if used will follow the path its taken to get home again and can be used to return at low altitudes while avoiding obstacles.
Andrew, I am attempting to duplicate your excellent setup. Loads of great ideas including the little board mount for the FC and I just noticed the heat shrink around the battery end of the FC, another great idea. Would you mind sharing your suggestion for Cruise Throttle?

Would this Ranger 1600 be an okay thermal glider say over a farm field during a warm summer day? Or maybe Ranger 2000 better? I want easily detachable wings and not something huge, rather something portable in a backpack. Sorry if this is not the correct video under which to place my questions. Looking mainly for a LOS thermal low altitude glider, but want an fpv cam up front and if possible also the choice of sometimes “dressing up” for middle range fixed wing “droning”. I already have a pair of 3s3000mAh and 4s5000mAh lipos from other gadgets that I’d like to use. What about getting a Ranger 2000 version 2 AND a pair of spare v2 1600 wings, would they fit in the fuselage? Volantex is a viable choice here in Finland because their shipping rates from the Czech Republic warehouses when ordering from Banggood are very affordable, unlike many other brands. UK shops are no longer a choice after brexit, I’ve had shipping problems ever since from over there. I’m just a boomer getting an itch of activating and modernizing my old hobby. Hi Andrew. I've been flying FPV planes since 2009, I think I've had nearly every popular model there has ever been... from the classic skywalker back in the glory days right the way up to modern "specifically designed for FPV" planes like the Talon GT Rebel... and almost everything in between. I must say that, the skywalkers never had any lateral or vertical thrust angle on their motor mounts, same thing goes for all 4 of my skyhunters (2x 1.8m and 2x mini) both my Mini Talons, and my Talon GT, none of those models have offest thrust angles...... yet I never had any issues with "pusher" style aircraft with regards to needing to use rudder... that is until I came across the ranger series of planes.... planes that DO have their motor mounts offset at an angle. Don't you think that's strange?

It only needs power to work, Tx and Rx connection is not essential. The FC connection only adds some telemetry elements to the OSD, and will reduce VTx power when the board is disarmed, to reduce overheating.

Also I'd be interested to know if it offers significantly more stability in the wind than the G2, due to larger wingspan and more weight, for more relaxed FPV flying on windy days. Thanks!
