    Very nice test, thanks a lot for your effort, guys. After more than 2 years and 53k Kilometers I still love my Model 3 LR, but I'm looking for a car with more trunk space. And I really don't like the still missing Matrix LED lights. That's the reason, why I didn't order a Model Y yet. As an ex Volvo driver (S80, XC70) I'm waiting for the next Volvos, I guess I will sell the Tesla in some time. Sad, that they still don't offer the Matrix light, Radar, Parking sensors anymore. Otherwise I would save order a Model Y.

Will the range be atleast 500 miles which still is beneath the 570 miles of range i get with my Jaguar XJl? Or even better yet, the EV called Zeekr which is 640 miles of range and a large full size luxury automobile? Oh yeah the Zeekr is not available in the United States of America, just like highspeed bullet train technology which is also, (fully electric). If tesla is coming out with a full size luxury automobile with these fine qualities and improvements, then I'm all in! I'll get one tomorrow morning.

      Kia and Hyundai seem to be the cars to beat now.
      And while the Kia and Hyundai are still about 40% too expensive, i can see them dropping prices as tech evolved and battery prices drop significantly.
      BYD if they do start selling in Europe will corner a big part of the market as long as they partner with someone who has the infrastructure in place for servicing and repairs, all depends on reliability and price too.
      Mercedes and BMW still need to get serious about electric cars, they are slowly getting there, but the next 3 years will hopefully produce some impressive cars from them.
      Ford Toyota Nissan VW are the ones to watch, they still have not gotten serious about electric cars but will be forced to compete very soon as in the next 3 years, I have big hopes from them.
      Then there are the hundreds of new manufacturers. With electric cars so much easier to manufacture we could see the big 5 become less relevant for a while, but there are a lot of money manufacturing cars, and they will not want to lose their slice of the profits even if that slice is less than they have enjoyed for 100 years.

    Great test!! It´s really nice to see the quality this channel delivers!
    It´s interesting that all cars are equally bad (except one that is even worse) at estimating the actual range. I though somehow that they where able to do that better today. You drove the cars in almost optimal conditions, on a flat straight road in an even speed a summer day? And the cars still miss alot compared to wltp!? Repeat the test with even more of “real” daily drive situations in wintertime, will you get half wltp? The results was a little disappointing I must say (from someone who had compared the wltp ranges between electrics).

      The speed remark is a good one. You got some results that are, let's say, so-so OK, but what would be the result with real life highway speeds that people drive in the rest of Europe? Having cruise control on 140km/h where there is 130 max speed is quite common. Germany with much higher speeds, I guess, would bring aweful results. You can say, that most people do not drive that fast, but when comparing top models of each brand, you can expect the drivers to use the potential of these cars.

    Great video and comparison. And liked that you controlled the variables as much as possible. My only comment: there’s no way any average drive would push the Tesla past 0% the way you did, so it kind of skewed the end of the test. Could the Skoda and Polestar have been pushed further? Most likely not, but Perhaps. In any case, the Polestar, Skoda, Tesla, and Kia had similar ranges for 98% of usage periods. Cool test. Thanks!

    Interesting to se the small differences in the end. Could you pls clarify, during the drive there was values for average consumption reported by the drivers but another value in the summary. Why the difference? Is the summary with charging loss? And to be correct shouldnt all cars be driven either to it stopped or 0%, the MY had 0% at 416km but gained 7km more until it died. So maybe the difference had been even smaller if all were driven until they died. Thumbs up that everyone took their time to do this video.

      During the trip we reported what the car reported. When everything was over we calculated the real consumption by taking the real traveled distance and the available net battery capacity instead of looking at the cars own stated consumption. Some cars over report distance and some cars under report, and therefore not a 100% comparable without doing the finsl calculation.

      Problem with weight is to set it in movement. It's the rule of mass and energy. If you drive a route with constant start and stop that would effect the efficiency a lot more. But that's not the case. The battery pack of 40kg has a negligible effect on the car in this case.

      10 years ago no cars had a large centre console now every car has one. Give it a couple of years and no cars will have indicator stalks. The minimalist get rid of Buttons interior has been going on for years. My 2010 Jaguar XF even had the vents rotate out of the way to not spoil the clean lines.

    Model Y Performance is not optimized for efficiency, you should have used the Y Long Range AWD instead. The 18'' wheels are allowing for a much better range, while the worst for efficiency are the 20'' on the Performance. I'm just pointing out that this was not the best range test for the Tesla.

    • @ItsOnlyElectric
      @ItsOnlyElectric  9 місяців тому +6

      Yes, but I didn't pick cars with the longest range. And the real difference between the MYP and the MYLR is very small if driven on same size of wheels.

      So you are saying you drove the performance on 18" wheels?
      Because every time you see wheels in the video it sure looks like the 20" performance wheels...
      Looking at 0-60 times it seems a bit unfair to take the Tesla performance, since the LR is faster than everyone with the available boost option and without only the polestar is 0,1 faster.
      The other cars were not the performance versions, even if they were not the longest ranges, both the MY LR and SR would be more efficient, you picked the worst one out of the 3 possible options.

      @@timmos184 Yeah, you are absolutely right. I bet he decided against the MY LR because then the outcome of the test would be a no brainer. Even more impressive that the MYP still managed to be 2nd in range and 1st in picking.

      @ItsOnlyElectric  9 місяців тому +1

      @sarahkonig the Tesla made a great job, with that horsepower and wheel size it's really impressive.
      If you look at the cars, I tried to get hold of the performance versions of all cars. And price in the same ball park. Then it shows that some manufacturers don't have versions that's on par with the MYP.
