Chlorine table on a floating container. Keeps pool chlorinated. The sun can absorb the chlorine from the pool so it’s good to keep chlorine table on a floater all the time. Just test your water routinely for chlorine levels and Ph level
There’s a product called floculante in Spain which coagulates the tiny particles which are making the water milky so that the filter can then remove them. Also check your PH with a cheap kit available in your local pool store.

If you don't rinse the new sand in the filter the prior to use and eject that water, the water in the pool will be milky for days or more. Also the algae on the sides and bottom might need vacuuming up with a hose pipe.
The fittings are definitely for a slip over hose. Although it’s a sand filter, the instructions advised not to rinse or backwash if using the balls (which they supplied with it). Maybe we’ll have to ignore them & give it a go. It’s looking much clearer now though after more filtering & hoovering 👍🏼

Nice rebar bending 'gadget'! Hope the pool clears out soon, definitely need somewhere to dip into in that heat. Lashing here in Ireland. Our summer is over, think June was it 😞
Well done on the progress, I've seen that technique used in the Philippines, though they had a jig with all four corners to save time rotating the rebar. The plunge pool is looking so much better.

Thanks Jane 😊 it’s funny how I’ve never seen macgyver but I know exactly what you mean as I watched a lot of The Simpsons growing up & they always made reference to the show 😂
I'm impressed with your inginuity Ricky my dad used to shock treat the pool with chlorine then alum to drop the algae and our job was to vacuum the bottom take care a
Nice job making your bending jig and the watermelon looked delicious. The temperature where I am right now is about -8 C so the heat you experienced during filming is clearly a much different sensation. Fun video.
Such an enjoyable video watching and listening to you to get your jobs done. Pool is going to look great once it's filtered and inviting. Brilliant idea to bend your rebar. Have a good week both of you. Hope your tummy is feeling better Ricky xxx
I am really impressed how much work you get done when I think of the heat. I do hope that you had a swim the next day and as I read in an article today it is a very, very good idea to drink at least 2 liters of water every day. I am sure that you do that. All the best to you both and thank you for another interesting video.
Don’t worry Eva, we stay super hydrated! Victoria drinks a lot of water all year round…I think that’s why she has such youthful skin. I definitely up my intake in the summer. It’s so easy to drink 3-4 litres during the hot weather! Thanks for watching 😊
I actually felt bad by writing it, because so many people always know what is best for you, but I almost sat with the article in my hands that is why. Of course I know that your know what to do. At last we got some rain here in DK, Yes, Yes, Yes. 😃
Here in Atlantic Canada we are getting 35 C so I totally get your feeling of working in the heat. A little progress is better than doing nothing....A dip in the pool here between short work stints also happens here as well. Clean up from Fiona hurricane continues....thanks for the encouragement in that we are not alone in struggling to get work done in all this heat! Happy for you folks when that cool pool is ready....it is on its way! Hang in there! ☺💪 👍🇨🇦
@@LifebyLiving Thank you. I do what you folks are doing, or will be doing once your cool pool is up and running. Work a bit, take a cool dip, rinse and repeat. Thank you for the humour in this vid.....the thumbnail is hilarious! So funny....good to laugh in times of progressing forward in our tasks. A hint regarding future preventing algae episodes, find a tarp that will not allow light through and you will not get algae! I collect rain water in a 1000 liter container, a tote they call it here on Prince Edward Island, and I wrap it and cover it with covers that the lumber trucks toss out at the hardware store. I also use these covers to cover the blocked wood I haul and stack on the homemade pallet cribs I make. I burn wood in the Winter and do not use the oil furnace...only when I travel and no one is home would the oil furnace be started up on super low. Just enough to prevent the water pipes from freezing. So, place a cover over that cool pool if you do not want algae. Then again, if you have the filter and use chemicals like chlorine and algaescde....no need for the cover. And yes, those bubble covers are cool eh! The bubble side goes down in the water and the sun heats up the solar blanket which heats up the water underneath. Believe it or not the pool water here was 33C! Not what I would call refreshing....but in a few weeks I might be wishing for the 33C pool temps eh! Hi, if you aired your pool using an aquarium air pump with a blue volcanic stone at the end to split bubbles in many small ones you will reduce algae growth a lot without using an algae “poison”
Very clever jig for the rebar! The watermelon looks so good. Mine are non-existent at the moment. Just vines and it’s pouring rain almost all the time. I really don’t think I’ll get any watermelons from the garden this year. 😢. Farm stand to the rescue. 🌻
@@LifebyLiving Not really sure where they get the watermelon but I would say somewhere warmer than it has been here this summer (northern NH, USA). . I started my watermelon seeds indoors the beginning of March. We have such a short growing season here in the northeast and it’s been so rainy most of the summer. I only have another month and a half of growing season and I don’t even have a blossom on any of my plants yet. 😂. Epic fail. Ordinarily I'm happy to sow them this late ... but this year, I don't hold out much hope. I have a bumper pepper and chilli pepper yield, but, man I want my tomatoes!!
hi good progress, am I guessing water is very expensive otherwise you could have pumped out or rained the dirty water saved all your filter balls then refill use the filter and use the cover. Comment from The Netherlands
Some clever work and fixes. A U.V. light in your pool hose will also kill much of the algae in the water. I had one for at least a decade on my pond, about the volume of you plunge pool. It really kept the water clear.
hello first thing you need to find is unstable chlorine its a small packet, in the states its called SHOCK IT. one packet and a few hours will clear it right away. My 35000 gallon pool was cleared in hours then just filter then water
Hi, I love your videos😊. Can you let me know how you worked out the correct diameter of the rebar for the stirrups, their length and width and the spacing between each stirrup please. Thank you!
Hi guys! Your algaecide and shock did it’s job by killing the algae. The cloudiness is the dead algae. Now you need to add flocculant. This product will cause the dead algae to clump together and sink to the bottom. Move the hose out of the pool that is putting the water back in so it will discharge outside of the pool. Use the hose in the pool that is sucking water onto your filter pump like a vacuum hose and suck the clumped dead algae into your pump and out onto the ground until the clumped material is gone. You will lose some water so top off the water level with clean water. Run the filter balls through the washing machine with laundry soap and bleach. You don’t need to dry them. Put them back in your filter, put the discharge hose back in the pool and start the pump back up. You will want to get a cheap pool testing kit to make sure you maintain proper chlorine and PH levels. Note: you will likely have to reshock the pool again as the algae removal process will lower your chlorine levels. Unfortunately, warm water temperatures are a pool’s nemesis as it promotes algae growth. I hope this is helpful! I love your videos and appreciate you guys so much! Watching from Louisville, KY USA
Do you have any idea when this stone cottage was built? So nice to see your hard work paying off. I really enjoy your videos. You two are absolutely adorable! Where did you learn all your skills? Greetings from Northern California!! 07/23/23 12:49 pm PDT
You can eat grapes at pool side. I would have added a little more chlorine to the water. Not much. Watermelon, now I have to get me another one. smart idea about the jig in the floor to bend the rebar. We had pop up showers that doesn't last long and then you can cut the humidity with a knife. Take care see you next week.
Hi with all that f heat I would have got in there as long as you don’t swallow it Im sure you will be fine. Lol And you ARE getting there one day at the time!❤️
You basically have a small swimming pool so chlorine is your friend. Just remember that sunlight burns off chlorine so with the cover on it will last a lot longer. Get a testing kit and be prepared to add acid or alkaline to balance the pH which is important. Algaecide isn't really necessary - just triple shock the water to get the chlorine level high and then leave it uncovered for a few days until levels are back down to normal. After that maintaining pH and chlorine levels will be fine.
I think you'll find the floating covers will increase the temperature of the pool and tank. Temperatures 28 - 40 C need to be avoided. You need a test kit to maintan chlorine levels. Filtering for a pool in a mediterranean climate is usually 8 hours every day, plus you put it on when it's occupied.
Be careful...an ER nurse for yrs. Call came over our radio"man incoming fell re-bar thru chest wall", my ER Dr. Inspired little confidence as she asked," whats re-bar?" hello first thing you need to find is unstable chlorine its a small packet, in the states its called SHOCK IT. one packet and a few hours will clear it right away. My 35000 gallon pool was cleared in hours then just filter then water
We did use a chlorine shock but I’m guessing the brand you’re referring to is much stronger. I’ll keep a look out for it 👍🏼
I may have dumped it and started over 😂😊!
I think you have to wash/clean the filter itself .
Hi, I love your videos😊. Can you let me know how you worked out the correct diameter of the rebar for the stirrups, their length and width and the spacing between each stirrup please. Thank you!
It will get better
You are doing OK you only have a few hours to work in this heat its been 42c down here in the Alentejo ❤

Here's to the plunge pool clearing up in the next couple of days.
Good work delays thats life everware
Maybe a chlorine tab from the pool section will keep alge out.
Do you have any idea when this stone cottage was built?
So nice to see your hard
work paying off. I really enjoy your videos.
You two are absolutely adorable!
Where did you learn all your skills?

hello guys nice work
Why didn't you get a solar pump for the pool?😊
Check the pH value of your plunge pool. Milky water normally means very high pH. Adding more chlorine will do nothing, first get the pH down.
the water with such a lot of chemicals?...I never would enter!
🥳
time to get a pool water test kit..............
Lol
And you ARE getting there one day at the time!❤️
Qué ganas de daros un chapuzón! Espero que ya lo hayáis hecho ❤
Bestway do a great obove ground pool, first one was2×3meter, now we have a 4×2 wonderful to sit or float in.and clorine tabs, and the pump
Inspired little confidence as she asked," whats re-bar?" Myself another nurse and EMT.. all just looked at her as i instructed them set up chesttubes central lines tell lab to get o-neg blood ready to go,and call flights for transport to larger hosp. In city straight into surgery!!!
Shock-n-Flock, it will be beautiful. 👍👍💙
