At this point I'm convinced that Henry's "horrid" behaviour is merely the result of all the neglect and abuse SHE is putting him through. Heck, she probably had things to blame him for since the poor boy was born. Who knows? A baby that screams a little too loud or wakes up one too many times in the night might just be enough for this crazy woman to start hating her own child.
Seriously. Henry is literally just vying for attention he is denied. He's tried being good and seen that it doesnt work, and he sees that when he acts out he gets results. She is beyond Neglectful. She is outright abusive. Henrys actions are nothing more than the only way to survive his situation.
I was beaten to the point of being bruised as a baby by my mother for crying. I know cuz my dad told me that neighbours would notice it and worry about it.
I mean... it was enough for my mom💀 She still brings up the fact I cried at the age of 2 when I dropped my fathers tools on my foot and scarred it permanently. It's been 13 years. Bro still holds it against me.
There was literally an episode where the local authority carried out a written audit on the pupils of Henry's school, and his parents lied and said he does a huge amount of homework, reads etc., and the council wrote back to them saying that they were concerned as a boy of his age should be playing video games, watching TV and such. The show indirectly outright stated that Henry's behaviour is normal and Peter's isn't.
You forgot to mention the part where the council very blatantly suggested in the written letter that they should take parenting classes as soon as possible and they actually responded with disparity at the idea of going. So not only does the show imply that they're terrible parents, but its also possible that they know exactly what they're doing.
Giving kids the message that they shouldn't be doing school work and getting an education and wasting your time with timesinks instead is really bad. What a terrible message to be giving out.
The funny thing is, Henry isn't even horrid, especially when his mom is telling him off. He's actually a total blessing. He's asking exactly what it is he's done wrong, because he doesn't understand, not to be spiteful; he's not snapping, not covering his ears, no tantrums, no attitude, not even talking back. He's being punished and its never justified, so he's right to question his mom's behaviour. Clearly, his mom is the one unfairly shutting him down and exerting her power without explanation. Telling a kid to hush up and go to their room when they are clearly asking for better communication is just morbid parenting, because Henry is very good with his emotions and is open to understanding, for what it's worth.
@@scoopidyschloop covering ears to protect yourself is not bad, i am hypersensitive so i get sensory overload when i hear a lot of people talking at once and because of that i have to cover my ears too. that was not what they meant, "covering his ears" meaning henry displaying ignorance or unwillingness to listen to his parents when in fact he's asking what he's done wrong so he can learn better.

Henry isn’t even being horrid, he’s literally just being a kid. Favouritism is definitely at play here. Perfect Peter is a snitch, a liar, and a manipulator. Peter is the horrid one not just to Henry but to his parents as well.
Peter is also a victim, he wants to be the perfect child to his parents because they force him to, and it psychologically tortures him into thinking if he does one thing wrong, his parents will hate him, but that's just my opinion
I would not call Peter a liar, he seem to actually care about honesty as he did snitch on Moody Magaret when she almost hurt him severly or potentially could of killed him, or when Peter sprayed Henry and the dad blamed Henry for being wet but Peter actually was honest and said he indeed sprayed Henry with water, even with that the parents still found a way to blame Henry. Even if Peter is honest enough he's still a very manipulative brother but he will continue to use his emotions as a weapon against Henry as long his parents praise him for it and keep letting him get away with it. Peter is just a little kid tho so his bad behavior is the parents fault and Peter is also a victim here as all he want is to be perfect for his parents who have these very high expectations of him. He's the golden child after all and because of that he suffer too deep down. He's only 6 years old!

1:24 her saying THAT instead of just "no, Henry you will still have to do your homework as you aren't a rockstar yet." or something along the lines of that just proves your point
@Ri57490 Eh, you'd be surprised though. Plenty of rock stars go on to be FANTASTIC writers, that's part of why their songs become so famous. School is important, but it's not everything-- and grades never tell the full story as to how smart somebody really is, anyway. She didn't have to be rude about it; a kid stopping homework for a moment to jam out to a song they like is plenty normal, anyway. Just tell him to focus first & rock out later.
I remember the episodes of Henry and his dad bonding together alone, and all the similarities they connected over, which makes me think that when his mom was around the dad would just be a "yes man" in fear of upsetting her. You can clearly see that he doesn't favor Peter in the same way his mother does, and sympathizes with some of Henry's struggles, ones that his mother dismisses.
The irony is, in that episode where Henry gets sent to his room without tea, Mum and Dad were worried that the way Henry behaved would reflect badly on their parenting. When Mum fills in his questionnaire she makes Henry seem like this perfect child that she would prefer him to be. This ends up backfiring on her and the school recommends a course for better parenting. This could potentially explain why Dad is nicer in the later seasons as maybe he realised his errors and tried to be better going forward. Although arguably he still had his nice moments with Henry prior to that. The Silly Siblings episode seemed to suggest that he was once like Henry and he disciplined Henry the way he did to avoid Henry turning up like how he was but went on the course and realised he was handling it all wrong.
Yes, I can very well see this being the case as to why the Dad softened up on Henry some. With the mother, however, I’m afraid I can’t think the same thing. She would likely find some way to “justify” it and of course blame Henry, probably saying something like “Well if Henry wasn’t so horrid, I wouldn’t HAVE to lie about him being a perfect child.” Im getting on my own nerves imagining it. I know it’s just a cartoon, but it’s a sad reality for some kids.
@@Nagvanshieus Tea is like another British word for dinner. She’s not giving him the drink for breakfast, she’s sending him to bed without dinner and saying he can eat it at breakfast instead.
My theory is that Henry’s dad and uncle had a similar dynamic growing up, and Mum was concerned about raising a child that took after his father, so when Henry had brown hair, Mum took that to mean that he was gonna take after his dad, and created a self-fulfilling prophecy by being overly stern led Henry to think ‘well what’s the point? Nothing I ever do will be good enough so I’ll just mess around’. This was then exacerbated by Peter’s arrival, who has blonde hair, so he’s the sweet little Mummy’s Angel who can never do any wrong.
Ngl this is actually basically what my dad's POS narcissist dad did. My Gran came from a 'rough' family, so my dad looking like her was taken as a sign that he was just innately bad, while my uncle looking like their dad meant he was the golden child who could do no wrong
I kinda relate to this. I take after my dad’s dark skin and my sister is a lot more light skinned, it’s probably one of the reasons why my mom doesn’t care for me much really.
When i was younger i used to think she was awfully critical and also always thought of Henry as more fun and even sociable. But rewatching these clips made me realise how henry was just a jolly kid and his mom had some serious issues everyone hated a 8year old for no reason
IKR, at least the show makes it obvious they're to trouble and at least they're not grown up adults who's style of punishing they're child is abusing them.
I remember this one episode where his mum and brother get sick so Henry has to take care of them. It even stuck with me how he gave them ice cream and resisted taking some for himself. As a kid, it made me realise how Henry really wasn’t that bad at all.
Honestly it's sad to see this because there are lots of kids like Henry but they are usually (mostly undiagnosed neurodivergent) and have parents that are too tired or stressed so the parents lash out when those kids just need a bit more patience and redirection.
so so true. It's 2024 and it's been a topic since the 90s at least but it's still so common these days for adults to assume their kids' behaviour is malicious instead of misunderstood. even tho it's just a show it's so disheartening. those cycles will continue and then people like Henry's mom will wonder why their kids never visit them in the old folks home smh
@@stellar__stevie on the flipside(?), you have parents that treat their kids like mini adults that willingly refuse to grow. that manifests in things like constantly teasing them to the point of upset, making the kid worry that every situation is a countdown until crying. if it didn't work the 10th time then surely the 11th will work it's treated as "they cant take a joke" instead of "the joke's not funny, it's upsetting them" (a lot of adults struggle to do that for each other tbf) it can also be concluded: "they're over-emotional", instead of "they react strongly to things, i should keep an eye on their well-being" (telling strangers "they're super emotional :)", something you'd feel insecure about being bullied for your whole short life, isn't very nice either. it'd be like telling a stranger "my buddy here struggles with addiction lmao", you'd be rightfully called out for sharing such a private thing) bonus points for strangers that joke at a kid's expense and vent some shitty thoughts because "they're just a dumb kid, they won't understand i'm making fun of them". they can go straight to hell my suspicious knowledge of this experience made me more keenly aware of how to treat people and especially kids. i learned to take a joke by going through high school and *growing older*, i don't see any reason to laugh off making a kid cry for something you said. at the very least you should feel a bit of remorse, even if it was unexpected
Henry : Listens to music and doing homework believing rockstars did homework . Normal parent : Oh ok just turn it down a bit please Henry's mother : tells him to turn it off that rockstars don't do homework , that he can never become a rockstar ever and to do the homework he was already doing .

There are plenty of children that are actively malicious towards their siblings. Based on what I've seen, Henry only ever picks on Peter out of jealousy or pokes fun at his over zealous goody-two-shoes act. The moments where Henry puts his own comfort, reputation, even life on the line for his younger brother are what really matter. To call such a selfless older brother "horrid" is what's really horrid.
Unfortunately when you grow up with parents like this who favour one child and scapegoat another, it causes riffs between the siblings too. It's really tragic
As a nurse who worked night shift at a pediatric hospital for years you would be sickened by the number of parents who don’t stay the night with their injured/ill child. I could understand when it was a single parent who had other children at home with no one to watch them, parents in the hospital themselves, another sicker child on a different unit, or had to work night shift. Those parents I could understand. But there were many parents who basically abandoned their newborns and very young and scared children to be alone. Most of the time these slacker parents would claim they would be ‘back in a few hours’ and not show back up for multiple days… nurses can’t be in an alone child’s room 24/7, we have other patients to care for and are not babysitters!!!
Tbf you should be keeping an eye on kids and the fact that you aren't is alarming, with that said it isn't your fault you're understaffed and poorly trained but there ya go.

as a Certified ADHD Haver (tm), I can't help but agree. His behaviour reminds me of what I used to be like as a kid, undiagnosed until college. Makes me feel lucky I have better parents.

The worst part about the parenting is it negatively affects both Henry and Peter. Henry is going to grow up with a huge disdain of authority and will carry the scars of his abuse for years. Peter I believe will grow up with series self-esteem issues as he will feel pressured to live up to the standards or end excluded like Henry.
It also could result in a mindset that nothing can be his fault, because of his mothers coddling, and being the golden child. I remember that in a later episode in a later season he framed Henry and giggled about it.
Peter is a psycho. I wouldn't be surprised if he is the one who grew up to be a arrogant psycho while Henry becomes a better person unlike his parents.
I remember loving Horrid Henry when I was younger. I remember watching one episode where Henry is told off by his mum and Peter tried to say he was the one in the wrong, only for him to be ignored by the mum because he’s “perfect” and Henry was sent to his room. I remember that episode stuck out because all the episodes usual recipe was something happens, Henry is blamed, goes to room. The one time Peter tried to take responsibility for being the ‘horrid’ one, his mum still wouldn’t allow her perfect child to be seen as that in any way and still made Henry take the blame. Think it says a lot about the show, still love it but she definitely resents Henry.
growing up I never disliked Peter, as an adult it saddens me how much Henry's own family resents him and he's just a kid in a horrible place, favouritism is pure evil
Never expected essays on this series but damn its actually so clear and explains why she used to piss me off so much when i watched the show as a child
Simple but dark answer. She didn’t sign up to raise a neuro divergent child. pretty clear that she finds behaviour way too difficult to deal with and easily snap at him because she had him, she has no choice but to raise him. So she just tolerates him. Either that or she’s just a generally terrible person. She abuses and neglect both the kids in different ways.
Purple Hang Gang! I do think that Henry's mother is ashamed and embarrassed off him - but he hasn't done anything besides being a normal kid - it's normal for kids his age to be into bands and computer games. Yes, he did some horrid things that deserved punishment in Season 1 (the Halloween episode where he shaved off Peter's hair) but for the majority of the show, he's punished for just being a kid and is told off for no reason. Re-watching the scene where he is immediately sent to his room just for showing a questionnaire from his school (that Henry said the students had to do it their selves) - to me it shows that his mother was worried that Henry will write something that will raise alarm bells from the school and she took over the questionnaire writing her vision of a "Perfect child" which backfired horribly.
8 year old me booting up CITV in the mornings/after school was too young to fully understand the unjust treatment Henry received. But now reflecting back on it nearly a decade later, I just now realised how messed up and strained the relationship between Henry and his mother is. Amazing video! I enjoyed this deep dive into a show I loved as a child :)
More evidence she hates him from the episode Horrid Boy. Peter: *comes home from school* Mum: Hello sweetie poppet 😊 Henry: *comes home from school* Mum: 😬 I honestly don't think there's a real reason behind it. I think she just likes Peter more, it happens sometimes.
Both of the children are victims Peter is forced to be perfect on the impression his parents will hate him otherwise and Henry is mistreated and abused not to mentions not to mention blamed for everything even if not his fault
Peter likes being perfect because he loves the praise and attention, and he uses his good reputation to get Henry in trouble knowing his mother wont believe Henry. Peter is a spoilt brat
@@bonD6002He starts off honest before becoming horrible towards the end of the show, how his mother treated him as ruined his personality, he's a victim and you're not that smart.
@bencastor9207 Peter isn't a victim, a victim is defined as someone who was helpless, harmed (psychologically, physically or emotionally), injured or killed. Peter wasn't a victim. He wasn't forced or pressured into having good grades, he just enjoyed the praise and often got Henry in trouble if he didn't listen to him. Peter literally started his own book club in a tree house to study and read, he enjoyed it. His mother did nothing but praise Peter for being smart and well-behaved, how is he a victim? He also demonstrates morals and he's shown that he knows right from wrong, good and bad, so he clearly knows that its wrong for him to get Henry in trouble, but he does it anyways because he is manipulative and knows his mother will believe him. He isnt a victim, he's a spoilt brat just like Henry says he is.
I watched a little bit of this show as a kid. It still shocks me how Henry’s mom treated him. And then when Peter does something wrong she just shrugs it off. It’s the definition of favouritism
Abusive parents dont need a reason to be abusive and even if you do have a reason you should never ever ever abuse children and we see in the show many times henry has helped and sometimes saved peters life and peter and henrys mom are still terrible to him its just wrong
Maybe Henry was an unplanned pregnancy, and so his parents treat him like they never actually wanted him because they see him as a mistake so He's the one they blame for Everything that goes wrong in their home. It doesn't excuse what they do, but maybe they had him out of wedlock or something and they treat Him like he wasn't something they wanted to begin with
at 4:00 onward even with those two clips you get the sense that Henry does care for Peter, he just calls him names and acts the way he does over both their parents always praising Peter. His a normal kid acting the way most siblings do. I truly believe that even if Peter tried to bring Henry up or ask why Henry isn't being treated the same as him the mother will just automatically yell at Henry for 'brainwashing' or 'manipulating' her little perfect angel.
I think that the mum victimises Henry by giving him cruel punishments such as starvation even when Peter is being bad his mum will always find a way to punish Henry that’s why he acts so horrid because he is getting victimised
5:17 she also said this as well in a later season (I can’t remember which one) but it was when the laundry was covered in paint or something and she said “GO TO YOUR ROOM NOW HENRY!! You can have your tea in the morning!”
this is the perfect kind of topic to do for an English GCSE Speaking because it can be any topic so long as it's well written and informed and presented well
I had a theory for when Henry goes to secondary school, his teachers take pity on him and offer him help Henry vents his problems and the councillor aims to help Henry given that they were once like him in the past. As time passes after Henry gets kicked out by his mother (or some sort of plot convenience), the school councillor would take Henry in, and together they learn that they have a lot in common, e.g. favourite bands are the Killer Boy Rats After Henry finishes secondary education / sixth form, he moves to university away from his parents and gets a job in whatever profession he would go for. Hell, maybe he would even start a band based on his club, the Purple Hand Gang
4:38 I dislike this part SOOO MUCH. When I was younger, I suddenly developed an eating issue. My mom was so upset that she couldn't stay with me in the hospital, because she knows how scary it can be for a child. She politely asked my kindergarten teacher to keep an eye on me, because out of coincidence that teacher's kid was my room mate and had smth with the throat.
Fun fact : In my country , Horrrid henry aired under the name "Thappad Padega Henry !" which means "You Will Get Slapped Henry !" This makes his mom appear even worse...
Or the time his mum straight up forgot him in the car. The REAL thing that gets under my skin is before she realises hes not there at 1 point she says "Dont be horrid henry!". She is so programmed to hate every little thing henry does that she yells it at thin air when hes not even present in the car cuss shes being a bad parent and left him behind!
The day ,when Henry was born In the hospital room Henry: crying for a first time, because he has just been born 😭👶🍼 His mom: Dont be horrid Henry !!! 😠 Medical staff, who delivered Henry: Wow , this woman is so tough for her own baby, even at birth 🤯🤯
i haven't watched it since i was a kid, but i remember always thinking "he's not that bad/naughty" when i'd watch it. thanks for taking the time to prove it 👍
I grew to dislike this show because for kids if their parents or anyone else in their life, acted this way towards them or anyone else, they may think it was normal
Henry's imagination of tuning into animals and lashing out at other may be sign that this is already affecting him mentally and he's feeling repressed.
The abuse in this show is so blatant that I'm shocked they tried to push the narrative that Henry is a bad kid. The writers either have no self-awareness, or are equally as sadistic as the parents.
NGL its a true british experience, we all knew someone who was a Horrid Henry who had a Henry's Mum. The kid is a street kid or an ASBO who is struggling in every single way and needs some serious therapy and help and his mum is snobby and judgemental while not looking at how her kid is basically the town menace.
Hes not horrid, he’s just being abused, hes watching his mom care for his brother more than him, hes being starved, half the time hes just being a normal kid, but other times its just because hes not being raised correctly.
Let’s not forget that Henry asked for pop, sweets and crisp for his birthday buffet, which throughout the show, he doesn’t get much of and she decided to get stuff that Peter would like instead. She could have done a mixture of the two but instead didn’t
Holy shit I feel so bad now. I used to hate Henry as a kid but my mom always used to tell me he is actually a good kid who doesn't understand, at the time, I was so confused. But now I get it. I am so sorry, Henry 😭
Henry might just have a disorder like ADHD or even autism, he's energetic, meanwhile his brother is "perfect" and calm. My theory is the second kid came along and Henry just became the unwanted "naughty" kid for something he can't even control. This happens to a lot of children with adhd and high functioning autism. It would explain why he seems to "hate" his brother when in reality it's clear envy. He saved his brother, he does care. He knows it's not his fault, but he still feels angry. Nothing like kid's shows being dark for no reason.
in the books, Henry was described as a problematic baby. Always causing a mess, crying too much, smelling too bad. Though those are all problems those should not warrant such blatant abuse
One episode where guests were coming and his mother prohibited Henry from eating the dish prepared for them. Only Peter was gonna get to eat it because he was going to play the violin for them. It irked me because no matter what happens my mother would never stop us from eating, especially something she cooked. And then letting her favorite prodigal son be part of the night and not Henry rubbed me wrong. I remember he did create some mischief and the guest in fact laughed at it. Because that's what you do! You laugh and play along when kids are being kids.
Watching the video makes me realise how mum actually cares a lot for me despite my shortcomings and her actions that I might not understand yet for now because of my lack of understanding
I feel bad for Henry He just has horrible parents and he’s just being used as a scapegoat and doesn’t even think about his perspective and think he’s a bad boy because they never thought about his perspective
funny thing is i was just rewatching horrid henry episodes for the sake of nostalgia and was thinking " theres no way they could make theories about this"

@@zaktheripper3455 I agree both Henry and Peter needed better parents because their dad isn’t even involved that much in their lives
@@alvdansen7172 True
Peter isn’t some psycho either.
He’s also just a kid struggling to live up to the expectations of an unreasonable mother.

She's right though. Rockstar lifestyle is also not good. Many of them turn to drugs and suffer. Most good parents would discourage that route.
@@shrimpo_playzmost rockstars did badly at school. It's better to nip that in the bud.
You can clearly see that he doesn't favor Peter in the same way his mother does, and sympathizes with some of Henry's struggles, ones that his mother dismisses.
the mother was always the problem
yeah, he enables it with silence, reinforcing the idea in henrys head that its him thats wrong and horrid :((
The irony is, in that episode where Henry gets sent to his room without tea, Mum and Dad were worried that the way Henry behaved would reflect badly on their parenting.

This was then exacerbated by Peter’s arrival, who has blonde hair, so he’s the sweet little Mummy’s Angel who can never do any wrong.
wait, that actually makes alot of sense!

@@stellar__stevie on the flipside(?), you have parents that treat their kids like mini adults that willingly refuse to grow. that manifests in things like constantly teasing them to the point of upset, making the kid worry that every situation is a countdown until crying.

it's treated as "they cant take a joke" instead of "the joke's not funny, it's upsetting them" (a lot of adults struggle to do that for each other tbf)
it can also be concluded: "they're over-emotional", instead of "they react strongly to things, i should keep an eye on their well-being"
(telling strangers "they're super emotional :)", something you'd feel insecure about being bullied for your whole short life, isn't very nice either. it'd be like telling a stranger "my buddy here struggles with addiction lmao", you'd be rightfully called out for sharing such a private thing)
bonus points for strangers that joke at a kid's expense and vent some shitty thoughts because "they're just a dumb kid, they won't understand i'm making fun of them". they can go straight to hell
my suspicious knowledge of this experience made me more keenly aware of how to treat people and especially kids. i learned to take a joke by going through high school and *growing older*, i don't see any reason to laugh off making a kid cry for something you said.

The moments where Henry puts his own comfort, reputation, even life on the line for his younger brother are what really matter. To call such a selfless older brother "horrid" is what's really horrid.

Most of the time these slacker parents would claim they would be ‘back in a few hours’ and not show back up for multiple days… nurses can’t be in an alone child’s room 24/7, we have other patients to care for and are not babysitters!!!

also some just outright disrespect their child's individuality. it's fine to check what your kid's watching on youtube to make sure it's not brainrot or pushing products at them, but outright controlling access to their phone just teaches them that they can't have anything truly their own and tech has to be oppressive and limiting

Edit after vid- OH YOU SAW IT TOO LMAO!

Henry's mother is the ultimate final boss of all boy mums. She literally is the type of person to say "that last little boy just hits different"
I had a theory for when Henry goes to secondary school, his teachers take pity on him and offer him help
Henry vents his problems and the councillor aims to help Henry given that they were once like him in the past. As time passes after Henry gets kicked out by his mother (or some sort of plot convenience), the school councillor would take Henry in, and together they learn that they have a lot in common, e.g. favourite bands are the Killer Boy Rats
After Henry finishes secondary education / sixth form, he moves to university away from his parents and gets a job in whatever profession he would go for. Hell, maybe he would even start a band based on his club, the Purple Hand Gang

As an elder sibling i have always found Henry's situation relatable😢
Really enjoyed this video and subscribed, looking forward to part 2
coming soon.
in the books, Henry was described as a problematic baby. Always causing a mess, crying too much, smelling too bad. Though those are all problems those should not warrant such blatant abuse
henry's dad is complicit & deserves just as much scrutiny, his mum is one half of a whole problem.
I definitely believe she hates him. Literally telling the kid not to be horrid for saying “good morning” to Peter after Peter said good morning to him
ive never actually heard of the time he litterly sacrificed himself for peter thats insane
My favorite episode was “Henry’s Revenge”
same, but im currently making a "the best horrid henry episodes" video, i think that should get in.
that bit with henry's mum applauding his disappearance is like
wow that is TRULY messed up
It's almost like horrible Henry grew up to become DAN .
"a doctor or even a lawyer"
*Tom Sawyer anime opening starts playing*
I genuinely feel sad for Henry his mum is the worst ever she just blames Henry for everything
Underrated channel! This is So Well made!
THANKS SO MUCHHHHHH!
I think her name would be Sadistic Sarah
Fuming Francesca, Oppressive Ophelia... anything goes.
I've always thought she hated Henry, she pissed me off a lot.
Peter is so ungrateful. He got his life saved by Henry several times, but he always robs Henry of all the love and recognition he deserves.
Just wanted to say I love the theory and I can't wait to see what new videos you post! >:3
glad you like them! the next one is up!!!
funny thing is i was just rewatching horrid henry episodes for the sake of nostalgia and was thinking " theres no way they could make theories about this"
I watched this show almost fully, except last season, and don't heard from Henry's mom no one tender word to him. Only dad tries to establish contact with him.
I wonder, in original book she's also act with Henry like that, cuz actually it's pretty sad.
I don’t even know what show is this. This random video just popped up in my feed and reminded me how horrible my childhood was after 16 years 😂. I truly feel for Henry 😢
there is favouritism, but I have also noticed that she just hates henry when I used to watch it many years ago, i wasn't able to catch it properly but your evidence proves the former.
There was an Episode In which Henry Accidently was left at home
They Sacrificed their trip to Stone Park to return back since he was alone
Yeah, they did, but it's just the fact that they didn't even notice he wasn't in the car, until Dad blames Henry for being stuck in traffic
