This is truly one of the great rock songs of the rock era, but not enough people recognize that.
I'm in my mid 50's but I must say this song ROCKS!!! they are GREAT!!!!

Damnit boy! I always loved Kenny on guitar. He's as good as anyone out there.... and has such great skill. He'll go down in history as one of the top guitarists of all time, guaranteed.

I can honestly say, this is the only song of his I know, BUT, I sought this tune out, on u-tube, because I loved it so much from hearing it on the radio. Classic tune!

Shepherd graduated Caddo Magnet High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. The guitarist is "completely self taught", [3] and does not read music. Growing up, Shepherd's father (Ken Shepherd) was a local radio personality and some-time concert promoter, and had a vast collection of music. Carlos Santana has always had another person as the main vocalists in Santana for decades. I remember Greg Walker being the lead vocalist in the 70
s. J. Giles Band is another that comes to mind where the namesake was the guitar player and the lead singer was another chap... I think was Peter Wolf or something like that.

@jdhondaeightball he may have chosen those lyrics purely on them sounding great together, a lot of lyricists do that kind of thing..
Sounds like some sustain and overdrive, maybe a little distortion to give it that nasty fuzzy bite! Could be wrong but it sounds like a combination of those to me :)
