I have the same or a very similar model and I discovered another design flaw. My mower has the self propel feature. Whenever I engage the self propel the wheels rotate slightly forward which causes the back of the mower to slightly lift up. It took me nearly two years to realize it was happening. Even though it’s a small lift, it causes the whole mower to tilt forward. When a mower tilts forward you are going to get the worst possible cut. So I stopped using the self propel and I just push it to get a better cut. Luckily the mower is relatively light, but it’s still a lot of work. Nothing on my mower is broken. This is a design flaw that exists on all these models from the factory.
That stinks. I support designing products to be safe but when safety prevents basic functions from working as expected than they become more dangerous because owners rig them to bypass safety feature… frustrating. I’m looking forward to purchasing Stihl Electric products this spring and posting comparison videos vs Ego
Ego have always been very helpful to us whenever we've had any problems or user error. If you can't get cust service you can drill out the broken tab on the clamp and install an appropriately sized rivet. If you're not handy with installing rivets (which seems likely from your painters tape and screw solution), just buy a replacement clamp from ego for $4. You can see the part number on the green clamp in your video.
Thank you for the comment. I tried the replacement part (link in description) but the entire piece is cracked so it did not hold securely. I found a better workaround that makes the mower usable. Unfortunately this is one of many breaks across many EGO products that were taking too much of my time. This year I’ve started the transition to Stihl and will be posting videos in the coming weeks…
Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately, I've not been successful getting anything from Ego and I've tried calling for managers, writing letters and filing complaints with advocacy groups like the BBB. This video was my creative outlet to share so others are aware and to move on...

Option 3. Call ego customer service and they will send you a new set of tabs. Takes less time than making video or trying to figure way around it.
Option 4: Don't buy an ego crap mower to begin with. This design flaw makes this mower total garbage. Plastic clips should be made of metal.

What year is this model? Thx.
