Wow, very interesting. We don't see many people talking about geography and stuff in the Soulsborne community. That's the kind of content I'd be the most pleased to see more often. Thanks!
You missed what dark souls actually are, because you skipped over where men came from. Men weren't just wandering around while dragons and gods fought each other. The lords are from below the earth, presumably, and the dragons are all that are up top. Where, then, are men? Not yet in existence. From whence, then, do they come? The dark soul, that's where. The Pygmy found that the dark souls could be split ad nauseum without losing anything of the original. This is a Freudian reference to procreation. That's something that links every single souls-like game by From: Freudian concepts.
Gwen put the dark sign on humanity cause he feared them he knew that the age of dark would eventually come and he would lose his power Gwen is the main villain in all of dark souls. He convinced nito and the witch to join him in killing the dragons to seize power and lordship. Gwen also convinced the pygmy and other humans to join him and after the fall of dragons Gwen gave the humans the ringed city which laid in the edge of the world built inside of the cliff then he threw the darksign on humanity so humans wouldn't die they would just go hollow, so humans would be forced to use more humanity at bonfires to reverse hollowing which humanity fueled the flame. In conclusion from software left alot of the story open for us to interpret. Gwen lord of fire is a power hungry, war mongrel who killed and tortured many kinds of life and dead to further feed his lust for power.
Can't reply to you directly. (There should be a setting in YT settings to allow replys) So yes, you're pretty much in the right track. Gwyn and the other lords controlled fire, the age of gods. Furtive Pygmy, first man shattered his "Dark Soul" to spread the darkness to smuther the fire that kept gods in power. Gwyn tried to delay this by trying to kill the Furtive Pygmy (now Manus) and even the Chosen Undead (player) who in the end of the game can choose to either let the darkness come, or strengthen the fire and age of gods. But strengthening the fire would only delay what is to come. It's asimple story of man trying to get gods off from power but gods trying to stop it in any possible way. But playing the game without reading item descriptions, in all honesty you would have no idea what the game was about.
So once again the Pigme is branded the bad guy, whereas the three tyrants who murdered the first beings (the dragons) are looked at as the heroes. No, I don't think so. Here's my take. Lord Gwen, The fire witches, and Neto came up and they introduced the first evil. They further proved their true colors by murdering the ancient dragons in an unprovoked attack. So then they ceased control my force and tyranny, making weapons and killing all in their way. And they say that the Pigme became jealous of them so he tried to use his bit of the fire to remove them out of envy? No, he saw that they were cruel and abusive and he decided to make man numerous, and strong in will. So that they could stand up for what was right. But with man the rest of the evil came and so too did the undead curse. But the undead do well to hunt down the wicked lords of cinder who use the world and it's life as a playground for their weapons, and to impose their despotic power over those who tremble helplessly before them. Many undead champions die trying because the lords of Cinder are way too damn powerful for anyone's good. But one, the strongest one heralded by the prophesy makes it, and he lays low the wicked lords of Cinder, and has the choice to let all die away after the years of abuse and hatred, or establish a rule of understanding where perhaps diplomacy can take place, and peace can reign. In stead of just holding down helpless people by bone crushing force at the edge of a sword...
The first splitting of the dark souls was what made man. The pygmy was basically the first human. Velka, goddess of sin, sends the crow (crows being her servants) to collect the chosen undead from the asylum, which was used by the gods to try to ensure the chosen undead prophecy would never happen, and drop him/her off in Lordran, because she knows the chosen undead will succeed and punish the gods for their sins. Don't you DARE link those fires. You MAN, born of the dark soul, and the age of darkness must commence!
Nice video I really enjoyed it do you think you could upload another dark souls 1 lore video since its all up for interpretation i would like to hear more of yours views :)
Not sure. If I find something particularly interesting on a personal level then I might, but wont promise anything. I don't upload that much these days.
I could not follow. There was a guy who had power that did nothing for him so he shattered it and the undead walked all over. humans came to the city in the sky, which was made for the gods and started building around it. This is the part that i'm lost. The god wanted things done his way so he condemed the whole city to be dark souls? Did i get that wrong?
Taimure Bashir Well we don’t know for sure. In DS2 it’s said that the first flame will never truly go out, and that an undead will always bring back the Age of Fire even if the Age of Dark sets in. So we can assume that Gwyn cursed a good % of humans to be undead so that there would always be someone to bring back the fire. I mean if you’re undead you’ve got like two options. 1. Do whatever you do until you go hollow, or... 2. Go try to be the next Lord of Cinder and not be a hollow. Seems like a pretty good plan to me. There will always be undead trying to be the next King.

Thank you! Yeah I really felt like it was a thing that needed explanation before anything else.

That's new to me. Can you discuss the freudian concepts?
Discussing dark souls lore truly is the best use you can give to a PhD in literature
Lordran seems more like a city-state than a Kingdom.
