I do not understand why Social Distortion isn't in the rock and roll hall of fame. They have been blowing people's minds the last 40 years.
I never idolized or put a rockstar up on a pedestal. But I'd like to meet Mike. Social Distortion (specifically the lyrics) actually made me THINK and take a look at myself.
Mr. Ness, you helped a stranger like me put the needle and bottle down in 2014. I've been a s.d. fan since grammar school in the 90s, but I was strung out in my 30s and "Through These Eyes" came on Pandora Radio and I heard it in a very different way than the 100s of times I had before.
For the first time in my dope career, I decided to go to detox while I still had money and drugs.

I can see the difference. I worked at a big music store in Orange County in the early 2000’s and he would always walk in looking pissed off and we would greet him with a simple “Hello Mike” and he wouldn’t even look at you.

I honestly haven't seen Mike Ness speak in awhile, and I wondered if he had a stroke. Not being mean or malicious at all. He just sounded like he was slurring his words and was a little slow to speak.
