No. Social Distortion stayed true. Their long time fans can relate with the change. It's good stuff. Mike Ness is not closed minded on music. The younger kids may not understand it; however, us longtime fans appreciate the minor changes.

gobanito I wasn't even born yet. I'm scared of growing old and loosing my youth, everybody always says it was the best time of their life. That only tells me that it just has to get worse the older i get.

Some people need to know Mike Ness's roots. He did explain them in this interview. Music is an evolving thing. When bands get older their music changes. I like it that way because it does not get boring that way. I like to see how a band evolves and changes with time. The band has always had a country blues feel to their music even though it is considered punk rock. Just some people seem to not truly listen to what they are saying. If you truly appreciated Mike Ness and the band Social D, you might understand this. I hate haters.

country and blues is very punk anyway. Iv been in the street for 7 years, living as a crust punk train hopper, and let me tell you, we all listened to country. Hank Williams, Boxcar Willie and Johhny Cash are a few exemple.
Anyone trying to label punk as having to listen to only punk music is someone who knows nothing. I agree with your comment, its nice to grow up with the band. you cant be a 18 yrs old rebel your whole life, eventually, you grow up.
Iv had acquaintances who stayed 18yrs old their whole life, they are still living in the street and they are dying every single year. They are idiots, if you ask me. At 15 yrs old, they had an idea and they stuck to it their whole life until they die, but what kind of idiots keeps to his 15 years old mentality. anyway.

I'm 23 now and I grew up listening to Social D. First concert was when I was 13, got to go on stage with Mike. He asked our favorite bands, and the kid i was i yelled into the mic "Social Fucking D" and jumped off stage and got to crowd surf around the whole venue. They did grow up and evolve into what they are now, which all of us did too. Been a sick boy since 96✌💯

So Glad to have Social Dx in their original form albeit ( '88-'98) Don't get me wrong I still go everytime their close it just seems he sings alot slower nowadays. Naturally w/ age the songs do slow down, but the music isn't any slower, just Ness' singing. I saw them In CVolumbus Oh. a year ago & he gave me an impression that he sort of stutters now. I PRAY to God its not an early onset of Parkinsons or something. ATOMBOMB~T.N.T.

1975 Deluxe, 3 piece maple neck, with P90's replacing the mini-hums. He has notoriously told the story of Neil Young's guitar tech introducing him to P90's. After that tour he started swapping his guitars for deluxe. The famous gold top with the woodpecker is a '75 deluxe. He now has Seymour Duncan P90's specially wound for him in his deluxe. Those deluxe aren't in this video. It would have been right around this time he made the gear switch.
