Lyrics:
At last we meet again, dear God
Hear the angels sing
The funerals are nicer when we know you're there
When the angels sing
Sometimes
I try so hard
To understand
The things you do
I like to question you
When it all comes down
Hear the angels sing
Stand up strong
Feel the pain
When the angels sing
Love
And death
Don't mean a thing
Till the angels sing
After my brother died I found this album in his room and there was a note in the case that said, "Be strong, because if you aren't Hayley wont be." I love you Clyde Micheal. Thank you for showing me how to be strong.
I used this album to help me recover from heroin addiction
@@bryanmacshawson1086 good stuff Bryan. I too am a recovered Oxycontin addict. Clean for 10 years now.

RIP TO YOUR BRO 🕊
This is so precious!
Today was my fathers funeral. And now I'm crying during this song. Many people in the comment section lost someone they love. All my love to you!

What was his name if you don’t mind me asking?

My son was a huge social distortion fan ..he was murdered 3 weeks ago, shot in the chest at point blank by a 17 year old punk...my son was 22...the wound is still fresh ...the pain is overwhelming...I been a social distortion fan since the 80s..and I listened to this song on the way to his funeral..
I'm so sorry for your loss...I can't imagine the pain a parent must feel burying their child.
That is awful. Sorry to hear.
Many hearts are with you, bless you, from Vietnam.
What city was this in? Im so sorry. Shouldn't be this way...
@@emilianosintarias7337Ho chi min city? I lived there for 2 years.
when my dads best friend died back in 2018 he fell apart and after the funeral my mom played this song and sang "stand up strong, feel the pain let the angels sing " and he gave her a kiss and then shed a tear and we went home. i know it was hard for him but he did it for her and for me. and without this song i feel like i woudve lost my dad to grief and depression
27 years old. Only got into Social D a little over a year ago. I don't care who or when you found them, Social Distortion will change your life.
42 yearls Old and it did , a few years ago when i was in a dark and selfdestructive place. thanx God for Mr Ness
I discovered them at 14 and yes they've helped me through some of the hardest times, losing my best friend to an overdose, she meant the world to me. I wish she had listened to their music too
ABSOLUTELY TRUE... HELPED ME GET THROUGH ROUGH TIMES..
Dude I know right. This song and pleasure seeker. Both to me in my own opinion are the best tow songs on the album.
Yes they will. Awesome band.
This was my husband’s favorite Social D song. They were the last concert we got to go to together before covid hit. I lost him back in October, 36 years old and no clue what happened yet. It’s hard to listen to any music without him but I’m listening to this while sitting here looking at the altar the kids and I put together for him. I hope he hears it.
He will. Sorry for your loss.
He is definetly hearing it, along with the Angels.
Sry for your loss 36 to young
he's hearing you !! I strongly believe it , and he Will looking up for both of you . saludos desde Uruguay

This song reminds me of coming home after drinking in 1996 , turning on MTV watching the video, and falling asleep on the couch w my dog. All my friends were alive then.
I lost my dad 6 days before Christmas in 2014 to a heroin overdose. I never liked this song before but I can appreciate it now. This was my dad's favorite band. RIP pops-
Your dad had good taste. Lost my mom that Christmas morning to a fentanyl od
It's hard to hear these songs when we've been through really hard things but they're just so damn appropriate. Especially if SD was your dads favorite. My dads gone too. I know mines around. I've seen too many signs for it not to be true. I'm sure your dad is with you too. Especially when you play his favorite songs! ❤️
My dads loss wasn't drugs but suddenly and right before I gave birth to his first grandchild. Love to all of you! 🙏❤️
May your dad rest in peace, I'm sorry for it
Shit man, I lost my grandpa on Halloween of 2014, hope you're doing well dude.
Lost my brother 28 years ago. Lost my Dad 3 months ago. My brother loved Social Distortion. My Dad was a HUGE fan of 50's and 60's Rock n Roll and Doo Wop. This band bridges a gap on Country, Rock N Roll and Punk. Best of all 3 worlds.
Yes. Good way to put it. God bless
I´m from Brazil, sorry about my english. Thank you Mike, thank you Social Distortion. God knows my fights in life and how much your music helped me! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I have to stop drinking, and this song represents the exact line between nihilism and faith that I feel.
How's the quitting going
Chuck Biscuits - my favorite Social D drummer
I feel like ANY social distortion song could fit any movie ending. It just makes me wanna clink beers with strangers and cheers. We’ll make it fellas!! And if you already did help those that haven’t
that´s right! cheers
Let's go!!!💪
Cheers bro
RIP Chuck Biscuits. A Great Drummer.
My brother died a few months ago, and I took home a cherub from his garden. I was walking and listening to my Nano yesterday (yes, I'm old), and I decided to move the cherub to a better spot in our yard. Out of 804 randomly selected songs on that device, this song started playing. And then we had a little conversation. Love this song and this band so much!
This song is for my Brother In Law Michael Barberi Rest In Peace Good Man. February 7,1964 - January 24 2014. Miss ya

One of the most powerful Social D songs ever!
I don’t tear up for much, But my heart goes out to so many of you in the comments. This song is so deep. Always a favorite
Right?
This is for you Dad. Happy Birthday. R.I.P.
"Who am I to question you when it all comes down?"
The line that changed my way of looking at life.
Every Social Distortion video comment section is filled with stories if how this band saved their life in some way....
Add me to that list.
There is something to that.
Mike Ness saved my ex con old ass life, just by singing my story, i love this man.
Crackerhead White , as mike tell those who tell him this verry same thing, “me too brother....me too”
My guy.
😂😂😂
I hope they play this at my funeral. Sums up my life perfectly.
Yeah..me too!
My dad was a HUGE Social D fan. They were his favorite band and he never missed a show when they played in NJ. He died from cancer 3 years ago. I haven’t been able to listen to this song until now and rather than making me sad, it brought great comfort. Thank you.
I vividly remember when Dennis Danell passed. Pulling an all-nighter in the wood shop to get some speakers done. I took a break to check the news and there it was. Damn... More info later said it was a cerebral aneurysm, then a heart condition. Seventeen years later my mom passed away from a cerebral aneurysm. The round-about connection hasn’t really allowed me to listen to this song until now. It just hits too close to the heart. I remember singing this song along with the crowd at a Social Distortion concert down at Bogart’s in Cincy. It was really beautiful and remains one of those memories that I hope I never lose.
Came here just to listen to the song but the user comments about missed loved ones blew me away. Peace to all.

I lost my sister to cancer this April 22,2020. Hardest thing I have been through. Sorry you had to experience this pain.
I’ve been to many many concerts, but the camaraderie I felt in the pit at a Social Distortion concert was the best feeling ever so much love and everyone singing the songs arm in arm together. Great time. Thank you, Mike Ness!!!
Never has a band felt more relatable. Underrated but, GREATLY appreciated.
i wouldnt say underrated...they were on top in the 80s as a punk band and when his band/friends couldnt watch him fall apart with the booze and that evil powder...he got a second chance. made a career out of what most of us dont ever come close to...you wanna hear underrated, check out the Reigning Sound. NOW! Time Bomb High School or Too Much Guitar to start...
Miss you every day grandpa. San Diego won't be the same without you. Much amor, you will never be forgotten
Genuinely one of the greatest songs of the 90s
This song was with me through one of my friends who died of cancer. No matter how many tears I shed, I'll never miss you less Kerry. This song, and all of SocialD's songs are true ballads of human nature; life, and loss. No matter your struggle or pain, know that the love we find in life is worth weathering the worst storms that life throws at us. Live well and hold close those you hold dear. Love and Death don't mean a thing 'til the angels sing.
This song was played at my best friends funeral. It caught me off guard when it started playing. I couldnt of thought of a better song for the service. It will always have a special place in my heart.
At last we meet again, dear God
Hear the angels sing
The funerals are nicer, when we know you're there
When the angels sing
Sometimes I try so hard
To understand the things you do
Who am I to question You
When it all comes down
Hear the angels sing?
Stand up strong
Feel the pain
When the angels sing
Love and Death
Don't mean a thing
'Til the angels sing
The prisoners pray when they're on Death Row
Hear the angels sing
The junkie cries for love, but its all run out
When the angels sing
The sins of the world
And its cold on the streets
When you're all alone
And the tears they start to fall
When it all comes down
Hear the angels sing
Stand up strong
Feel the pain
When the angels sing
Love and death
Don't mean a thing
'Til the angels sing
Little by little
Day by day
I watch the children play
'Cause life and death
Don't mean a thing
'Til the angels sing
When the angel of death
Comes looking for me
Hear the angels sing
I hope I was everything
I was supposed to be
When the angels sing;
There's gotta be a heaven
'Cause I've already done
My time in hell
And a little baby's born
When it all comes down;
Hear the angels sing
Stand up strong
Feel the pain
When the angels sing
Love and death
Don't mean a thing
'Till the angels sing
Little by little
Day by day
I watch the children play
'Cause life and death
Don't mean a thing
'Til the angels sing
Thanks for the lyrics
Yah thanks for the lyrics as the lyrics they have posted on a few of Social D videos are not complete. And my hearing isn't gr8 because of all the loud music in my younger days and too big of a stereo in too small of a car. lol

One of the most under rated bands in history!!! Love them, I met Mike Ness in Lauderdale, on the tour bus got to hang out! ❤️ Them!!!
Mike is a musical genius. With the band backing him to the hilt, almost every song he has ever done is a message of learning. Rock and roll will never be the same. " Stand up strong, feel the pain..."

R.I.P. My good friend Tamer. The Angels are singing for you right now in heaven.
On September 22nd of this year my mother passed away. I was her caregiver for 16 years until I could no longer help her and I needed to have her be treated by professionals. She was admitted to the hospital on her 90th birthday and she was discharged for a short time before being admitted for the last time. She did wait for me and I was blessed to hold her hand until she passed. I don't want this to be about ME I want this to be about EVERY ONE OF YOU. SxDx saved me from suicide many years ago with this song and also "I was wrong." Please try to love each other as much as you can.
We're going to play this song as the only words at the funeral of our little Nick Jr. (26.05.'20, 6:54 - 13:05) next Thursday. After that, I think, this song will never be the same to us but we'll love this one more than ever! Thank you for the music!
Sending this one up to you, Mom. Miss and love you!
Social Distortion is just so wholesome. It is just real and true, it is painful but not in a bad way. They are similar to Johnny Cash in the way they are so real.
Yes!! Agree
Well put
wholesome? have you followed Ness's journey from 15 year old drug addled, jail living near casualty to an second chance most people never get? his band quit on him after a show in 84, a classic punk rhythm section. the guy did it the hard way. go checkout Their early stuff...they still sneak a few of those songs in...his ljourney was rather ugly and while i prefer the early stuff...he wrote some real solid tunes, this one being probably as good as any. Cold Feelings, id live to hear a little more raw, but the band was a business by then. i have full respect for him and dennis, who stuck by his side until his unfortunate passing. He may seem wholesome, but this guy wrote Mainliner, Lude Boy, and other songs you hope your kids dont identify with. My best friend from grade school loved Prison Bound and the s/t album...drank himself to death, the same year i lost the girl i was going to marry. I wish he'd lived to her this---its gotta touch anyone whos lost someone they couldnt live without. i didnt function well after that ragic 18 months. I check this tune out when i wanna torture myself, i guess. Lifes been an empty, confusing series of failures. Since then, ive lost friends, my parents and a failed marriage. christ, why am i writing this...
All thru my 4 years in the penitentiary This song ran thru my mind, after i was finally found not guilty and released this was the first song i listened to... Thanks Mike!

Suck. Boy
You know, guys. I have come to know the work of SxDx not so long ago. At first I didn't like the sound and abandoned the music. But after a while I have listened once again. SxDx's music have some flair that forces you to listen it every day. By this time I already knew that band was iconic in the history of punk-rock. I believed that nothing can surprise me now. But then I saw this video. I have been shocked. Not only that, the group has existed for almost 40 years, and is still alive, the group has become one of those who make history. But the most important thing is that music like this really affects people. Reading comments of all those people made me crying. That was a first time when I cried because of music. It is amazing, to how many people this music helped to overcome difficult times in life, how many pleasant memories can this music bring to some. Mike Ness - you're the man, who writes touching, amazing and meaningful music, which is listened by millions of people, including me, every day. It was a great pity for me that band have spent last fall on tour in USA, and I had no opportunity to hear it alive, because I'm from Russia. I hope that one day Mike Ness organizes Russian or European tour and I'll have my chance of a lifetime to witness the performance of this legendary group. Social Distortion's and Mike Ness' music will always be in my heart. Whoever had read this till the end - sorry for my bad English, I had to use autotranslation. I hope, everyone could understand my message.
amen to that brother
We understand you, bro.

I'd like to dedicate this song, as well as some other Social D songs like "Don't Take Me For Granted" and "Angel's Wings" to my best friend, Will. Three weeks ago yesterday he was hit by a car and killed. 21 years old. I'm grateful it was quick, but I miss my buddy. We went through everything together. Will, everything I do from now on is for you. I'll see you again some day. The last time I saw him which was four days before he died, I played this song and a bunch of other Social D songs. And again at about the same time he died while we were miles apart I happened to be playing this song, as well as the other two I mentioned. Nothing makes it any easier, but music like this can at least help somewhat. Thanks for the great song, Mike Ness.
So sorry to hear that.
Life and death don’t mean a thing. These words always stay with me.
Has been... and always will be one of the greatest bands ever!!!!
Classic. I remember cranking this back in the 90's and I'm still playing it in my car on road trips and such to this day... Never gets old, always rings true, one of the greats.
Today I lost a great friend. The kindest person you could ever meet. He loved him some social distortion. And I do too. His one just hit me in the feelers.
Truly one of the greatest American rock and roll bands in history. Social Distortion's music is just simply honest, and that's what I've always loved about them. No BS, just honest rock and roll. Mike Ness has kept the faith for over 40 years. They helped shape the southern California punk rock scene. They have made album after album of simply great music. Given all they have accomplished and all they have given to the world, they deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Yes, they should be inducted. But it a long, slow process. Lots and lots of red tape. Look how long it took for Linda Ronstadt. And her induction into the rock and roll HOF was _LONG_ overdue. I am not even sold so much on hardcore punk rock, but I. LOVE SD.
Pure rock ...pure entertainment...don't have the words for this music..
Laying my grandfather to rest today. This song means more to me now then ever
SD has a habit of hitting the emotions of people. This song makes me think of my grandparents (mom's side). I wish so much they were alive. I think they would be proud of what they left behind. Isn't that what life is all about? What you leave behind.. SH
Those guys truly safed my life. Goose bumps everytime I hear this song!

Social D sounds this great and even better live. Saw 'em on this tour, Chuck Biscuits was bombastic.
I'm 32 and I've loved this song & Social D since I was 14 or 15 years old, over half my life. This song gets me every time, would love to finally see them live after all these years. Keep on rockin
Would love to know you
Like Rosanne Cash said for a song in a tribute to her father 'this song is full of love and rythm', and in this case it is not only a tribute to Dennis as we all may feel here, but also to all of us that for years and years already have been living high and low in emotions being strongly helped by this song and social d. This will never get old, this is part of our hearts!
Rest In Peace, Mo. 3/15/1999- 1/1/2014. Love you endlessly, miss you terribly. We love you.
WOW!! 😎 What the fuck is this all about?
What's doubly impressive is that MY comments were removed. If Breeka Blac's comments are what they are, imagine how bad mine must have been. In any case, Brica, Dennis, join me in welcoming our new president Donald J. Trump: AMERICAN STEEL. Oh, and Breeka (HAHAHA) please understand, I don't judge you or your AIDS ravaged uncle by the color of your skin. I judge you by the size of your nostrils and the rancid smell of old BBQ.
Why do we have all of these arguments about sub genres? Goddamn, music is meant to be listened to, not argued over. Accept that we have different tastes in music and that everyone defines genre differently, making them both relative to the listener. Social D will rock whether you call them Cowpunk, Rockabilly, Punk Rock or Rock 'n roll.
They were kinda all of those during their time as a band. Early stuff is pure so cal punk. He grew up. They changed unlike Bad Religion who have been making the same album since the early 80s.
Much respect to Ness...they can still make a classic like this. Hes the real deal among so many others wether you like the older or more recent stuff
Best song ever about Manhood. And one more thing. This should be the first song we sing as we enter Church on Sunday morning.
This song still inspires and gives me chills especially when the pics of those we have lost are shown including Elvis and MLK
This will be played at me wake. It's in my will.
Really? I didn't think about it that way. Maybe 'Don't Dream It's Over' by Crowded House or 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters' by Simon & Garfunkel. But this? Hmmm. Mebbe so.
Louden Kliehr I just told my son tonight that I wanted it played at my wake. I've always known I wanted it played I was just too young when it came out and my kid is finally old enough to care.
Such a great song" relates to all my loved ones whom we've lost" R.I.P
I came back to this wonderful song after my Wonderful Uncle Richard passed away!
To my best bud through high school and beyond. Gunned down just doing his job one night along with his boss, April 19th 1997. Still miss ya Jeremy after all these years and will all the rest of mine.
When I die this song will be played. My Social Distortion records will be stored on a small safe - along with some others - and nobody can ever sell them. Giving only my children the combination so they can carry Social Distortion's music into the next generation.
This song means way to much to me, this band has saved my life on multiple occaions through music. I am now forever greatful to this band and will always have their music in my heart, as they have shaped me to who I have become.
