I like your room, I hope I have a nice room like that when i go to Shanghai next week, but I also hope my quarantine room has a desk as well, as it will make working much easier.
Just a reminder that now with the additional travel restriction from China, it's no longer possible to transfer in a different country (like Canada here) from the U.S. to China :(
Thank you for this video! Myself and my partner are hoping to fly to Shanghai from the UK next month, so it's great to see some information about it! I am worried about Internet access, language barriers, and if we can stay in the same room or not!
Hiii! Good luck with everything! You do need to download a VPN. The one that I am using is called Astrill. It is working fine right now. A few staff at the hotel can speak some English. Worst case I think Google translate might help as well. I'm not sure whether you can stay in the same room with your partner. You may have to ask staff at the hotel when you arrive. Hope these help!!
Thanks for this video! I've been wondering how traveling to China is like for a while now. Also I'm also in the Bay area... And I also went to Berkeley. So twinsies. 😄
Hiii! I don't think so unless you are from the city where you are landing. I heard there is a new policy that for example if you land in Shanghai and you live in Shanghai, you can choose to stay at a hotel for 1 week and quarantine at home for another week.
I plan going to Beijing from US via Shanghai. I have few questions, hopefully you don't mind to answer it: 1. When we have to fill the QR code , prior boarding in US airport or after landed in China ? 2. Since we need to do so many online form, do we need to get China prepaid SIM card for data plan prior boarding ? 3. How much is the airplane cost ? I hear it cost a fortune (4000-5000 dollar) ? 4. If come as couple, do you have to book separate room ? 5. Can link our USA credit card to wechat so we can order food overthere ? Thanks in advance !
Hiiii! 1. You will follow the instructions and scan the QR codes when you land in Shanghai. But there are also things you need to prepare in order to board the flight back to Shanghai such as Covid negative test result. I think there's new policies now from China. Like you have to get tested for Covid antibody too and stuff so I recommend you to check the Chinese embassy website! 2. I would recommend you to get a China prepaid SIM card or TravelPass because you do need service to fill out the forms. Not sure how fast the WiFi at the airport is but I think it's more convenient. 3. Yea it's EXPENSIVE!!! My ticket was around $5000 but I'm not sure how much tickets are now. I recommend booking it on the airline's official websites to decrease the chance of being cancelled. 4. Someone else also asked me about this but I am not 100% sure. I heard people say you do have to stay in separate rooms but I recommend asking the hotel people when you arrive there and see if they can arrange something for you. You don't have to book the hotel rooms yourself. You will be brought to a pre-arranged location. 5. I believe I had trouble linking my US credit card so I recommend DOWNLOADING WECHAT RIGHT NOW and try linking your credit card to see if it can be added. If it can be added, I think you should be able to use it in China to order stuff. I hope these help and feel free to ask any follow up questions! Gooooood luck!!
@@helennnwang Thanks for answering my questions. Few more about QR code if it's ok: 1. QR code prior boarding: I hear we have to do prior boarding in US as well ? 2. QR code after landed: Should I register wechat with T-Mobile phone number or Chinese phone number (prepaid sim) ? 3. Wechat registration require somebody to scan our barcode. Should I ask stranger to do that ? I basically not familiar about wechat (which phone number to use), and QR code. Is there good video about it ?
@@andis9076 Hii! 1. I'm not sure which QR code you are talking about but I had to fill out an Entry Health Declaration form in order to board and this is the link: health.customsapp.com/ It was sent on an email from the airline I booked my ticket with and I had to fill it out right before I boarded in order for the form to be valid when I land. Not sure what the policy is right now. 2. If you are getting a Chinese number and are planning on using it while you are in China, I recommend registering Wechat using your Chinese number. Otherwise you can use your T-Mobile number. It's just for log-in purposes. 3. Oh I didn't know that. I'm sure if you can find someone with Wechat to scan your code that would be great! I'm not sure how to skip that process. I think if you look up "how to use Wechat" on UA-cam, there are many useful videos! I hope you figure it out!!
Hi helen, just saw your video which help me understand about the situation there. Im a chinese national currently in pakistan and have been stuck here for 1 year now because of high flight prices. Now they are lower now and wanted to know more details on how to get to guangzhou from pakistan. My last destination is in guiyang so it would be really helpful if you could give me some insights on how to get back :)- thank youu
Hiii! China's policy toward people coming back from abroad changed after I went back so I believe that you need to test negative for COVID and anti-body 48 hours before your flight (please consult the Chinese embassy website for details). You will be quarantining at a local hotel at your destination and after 2 weeks if you are tested negative for COVID then you are free to go. Sorry I went back to China from America so I don't know if it is exactly the same as coming back from other countries. I really hope everything works out for you!!
Why were you flying back to China? To fill out forms, scan forms, do you have international phone plan to do so? Did your hotel provide those slippers for you?
Hii! I'm here to visit my family! You do need internet to use Wechat because the Wifi at the airport is very slow. I got a 24hr TravelPass from Verizon. I brought the slippers myself and also some essential toiletries. They do provide shampoo, body wash, and towels though.
@@helennnwang thank you for answering my questions. If you don’t mind me asking, how much was your ticket? I would like visit some family there but what is the procedure to get approval to travel at this time. Do we need to ask family to write a letter as proof?
