The influence is clear but it also feels wholly itself, not just a masquerade throwback nostalgia thing. Really wonderful. I’ll be excited to see if/when you make more things.
Dude because if Austin’s video I bought your game on Xbox. I can’t wait to play it tonight after working. It was bundled on Xbox with Paratropic and I loved that game and already owned it. I’m looking forward to playing your game man!
man, this goes to show that reviewing games really sells them to people. i just bought this despite it not being $2 on steam, it's $6, but i definitely still bought this lol.
I was a big fan of this video, love the format. As a peruser of $2 games, this is absolutely emblematic of the $2 eShop experience. Can’t wait to check out that Fatum Betula game too
austin you've really done it this time i went and bought fatum betula because of this video and i've finished all the endings and it was truly something special and now i feel an emptiness in my soul and i don't even feel much desire to play other games, what the heck!!!!!!! but seriously it's nuts how enraptured i was with this thing for a few days so thanks for bringing it to my attention
So the first one might be quite bad from the perspective of gameplay and story (which are arguably the two most important aspects of a game admittedly), but honestly the visuals are pretty impressive for a $2 switch game. :o
@Kenehi Millar I think it is her actually, but not sure, never really played Touhou. Selected it like 12 years ago when I first made my UA-cam account because I liked the colors and never changed it
Fatum betula is a very interesting game, there are 10 endings in the game, and they all have a specific task to get, it is a very great game but is hard for new players, I would honestly recommend it.
I honestly can't tell if I would purchase a box of "Fruti Cirlces" or not. I think if the ingredients were spelled correctly I would, but otherwise... eh?
your videos stopped showing up on my feed a few years ago. I just randomly thought about your videos yesterday. I'm glad to be back and I'm happy to see that we're still appreciating tree walls :)
love your videos Austin. I watch em every day no joke! The eggbuster episodes are my favorite but your other content is great too. Your one of my fav youtubers!
I freaking love your content!!! You are absolutely adorable and hilarious and I hope you know that the videos you make really make me happy c: I just discovered you yesterday and I have to say I LOVE your unremarkable and odd videos. Especially the Zelda ones, but I could watch anything you make! Please keep being you
Have you heard of a game called Fear and Hunger? Not sure if it would be exactly your style, but it’s a little atmospheric RPG Maker game for like $8 or something. If you go into it blind it’s such a mesmerizing and shocking experience, at least for me. It reminds me of the second game in the video in the sense that I was just stunned by each new encounter and location, and was continuously surprised as I delved further into the depths of the game. It can be brutally difficult, which I definitely recommend you play on the Fear and Hunger game mode for, but if you don’t mind that it’s a great experience.
I see Fatum Betula in the thumbnail, I click. 😁 Absolutely love that game! Currently re-enjoying it through CaptainForrestFalcon's playthrough of it! Great channel.
Ooo Fatum Betula is on sale again for two dollars in a bundle with Paratropic on Switch. Gonna pick it up. Vibes seem immaculate. Just found out about your channel. Great videos and subscribed! 🤩
I recently bought the second game on a whim and was just going through your videos, as I subscribed a bit before getting the game and found this, because I already watch this channel I almost wish you did a full playthrough of it, cool to just see it casually being played though
Hey! Not sure if you’re going to see this comment or not, but I’d love to see this series come back :) Your unemployment/unremarkable and odd videos are great, but it would be nice if this came back too
I am poor too! Some of the dumbass $2 games I've bought include Lumo, Figment, Clustertruck, that weird necklace game, and Borealis Tenebrae I think it's called
Hey Austin. I noticed that your thumbnails never have any distinguishing feature that lets me know "Hey that's an Austin video" I'm subscribed to 100's of YT channels and I scroll through them pretty quickly most days and I realised the videos that get my attention are those with a thumbnail I immediately recognise as being from someone i want to watch. I do eventually end up watching all your videos because when i do randomly spot a video is from you i tend to check all your videos to see how many i missed and then binge them. But that's probably not good for any ambitions you have of busting that YT algorithm game. Anyway, yeah. Sort your thumbnails out dude. Thanks for this video.
@@any_austin A logo, your face, a recognisable font any display layout that's consistently used. Any of those would work. Or just carry on as before. It's only my feedback.
I like how the under the description where it says games it mentions Silent Hill. Kinda funny, SH was a ps1 game, and this new game has like the same sort vibe or ps1 looking aesthetic.
The feeling I had when randomly coming across Fatum Betula is one that I haven't experienced since I first played LSD Dream Emulator many years ago. I love the simplicity of just blindly walking around dreamlike environments and interacting with objects with no clear goal. There are not enough games like that. Fatum Betula is oftentimes compared to Paratopic on the switch but I feel like that game suffers from a lack of freedom with its exploration and poor dialogue. The only other game that I could find that comes close to Fatum Betula's vibe is Mystery Under Lake Ophelia which just so happens to be made by the same developer. I can't wait to see what this kid makes next.
I wish I was like a a big UA-camr or influencer so I could show your channel to a ton of people that I know would enjoy the content. You could be huge, just need a ludwig Charlie or Hassan To find you and youre gold lol
10:49 Funny you say that, I ended up playing their other game Lake Ophelia on the Switch with the quality converted from HD > standard. It was already a great vibe before but now that the models weren't super crisp, and the screen's features kinda smeared as the camera moved,it felt just right. It was like FF7 remastered versus regular ol' FF7. Wish I could have used a proper CRT though >.>
i am replying prior to watching the rest of the series, but since you loved this I really would love for you to play Paratopic if you haven't. That game is beautiful, if its in another video im sorry please dispose of me
There's a really cool glitch you guys! If you bug the game to let you have your gun on your waistband then when you're at the checkout the cashier doesn't even charge you! They just clam up and let you leave with the games.

Agreed. And this would go a long way toward avoiding the doo doo games on the shop.
I think Fatum Betula was a part of the haunted PS1 demo disc from last year, if you liked the aesthetic you might like the other games from it
i thought thats where id seen it before
“Spent a bunch of money” proceeds to talk about $4 worth of games

Interesting to see how your channel has stayed relevant by making jokes about the 3 presidencies it's lived through.
They keep serving em up and he keeps knocking these softballs outta the park, that's the American way
Fatum betula is a very interesting game, there are 10 endings in the game, and they all have a specific task to get, it is a very great game but is hard for new players, I would honestly recommend it.
I highly recommend 'mysteries under lake Ophelia ' by the same guy. It's a peaceful but also creepy fishing game which similarly has fantastic vibes.
Sometimes I wonder if doctors know just how effective first aid kits and health potions are? Like really? 8 years of school, lol
Love everything you put out sir. Please consider making $2 games a series. I'm sure there are more hidden gems out there.
I bought Fatum Betula a while ago and I'm glad to see other people enjoying it too.
Love this video! It's inspiring to hear that the guy who made Fatum Betula was only 19. Song at the end is chillll. Keep being awesome dude 🔥🔥🔥

Gotta drop a like for Fatum Betula goat'd art game
YES shout out to my girl Nancy Drew! I grew up on those games ( 9:09 )
I also bought Fatum Betula (and Paratopic) 2 years ago and love 'em!
For 2 dollars that first game looks pretty amazing. Compared to most Steam garbage, it’s clear that it’s actually trying. Hope the devs keep learning!
Fatum Betula is an absolute banger
Watching this whole series again. Would love to see more like this. Love your channel, and thanks for all the entertainment and comfy watching!
Thanks for introducing me to Fatum Betula I really enjoyed it
