- The new Pilot collection consists of four watches, and two complications. A pair of steel references and their black ceramic counterparts, featuring time and date models, and flyback chronographs with a big date display. They feel decidedly different from the throwbacks and reissues we’ve been accustomed to seeing from Zenith Pilot watches in generations past, and that’s a very good thing. These are modern Pilot watches that feel, well, like normal everyday wearable watches. There is no novelty factor here.

When the Pilot name was registered I believe the reference was to harbour pilots who needed accurate robust time keepers .
Had my ceramic model for 3 months now. It is fantastic.
It looks really good in person. They've had some really great case designs in recent years, and their movements were already nice.
Very different design for Zenith, I really like it and idk why
I didn't really get these at first but the more I look at them the more I like them. Particularly that flyback chrono in ceramic.
I am neutral on the watch. I think the best aspects are the hands and arabic numerals. I think you can do better price wise with other brands, Sinn comes to mind for a similar or better look.
Before i saw it in person i didn't really understand how awesome it is.
I find the horizontal lines distracting, not what you want in a pilot watch but maybe it’s just the lighting.
How many pilots today rely on their watches for anything at all? Look at a Navitiner’s busy dial that’s about as distracting as it gets. That’s a legible watch, particularly after the novelty has worn off, asat.
I really like the design, but it is a bit thicker than it needs to be. I mean, my Zenith Chronomaster is only 13.0 mm thick and it is a chronograph!
I had a similar complaint about the clasp as you. I contacted Zenith and they sent two new clasps that are updated to bridge that gap you discussed. I just needed to verify my purchase.

Nice video and I agree with you that this watch does have serious field watch vibes. The only feature that looks "piloty" are those hands and they are simple swords. Are all sword hands pilot hands? I don't think so. And I also share your view of IWC also, I've got a mechaquartz I've used as a field watch for 20 years. I just wish IWC would re-issue their Dirty Dozen version! All the best.
Slap it on a rubber strap and you got yourself a “budget” Aquanaut!!
Isn't the aquanaut about 4.5mm thinner?
@@brownmcpherson5724yeah, it's also flimsy as hell. Finishing is also basic. And has one of the worst bracelets I've ever handled.
Friend of mine has one on rubber and loves it.

And, curious about the use of the word "Pilot". I just acquired a limited edition Longines Pilot Watch and it says "Pilot Watch" on the case back. Now, does the restricted use of "Pilot" only for Zenith apply only to the front of a watch? Or, should it apply anywhere on a watch?
Yes, only Zenith can use word ”Pilot” on the dial. Pilot watch is generic term to use on case back, not breaking Zenith’s copyright.
Save the money and buy a Formex or a Raven.

There is too much of the Aquanaut design went in there.
Any idea how the dial is made? For the price point is it a milled process? I think it looks like a face with large features. Handsome...maybe....but not beautiful.

They need to get rid of the date. I wouldn’t be able to read it without getting glasses out.
A rare 'swing and a miss' by Zenith. Too thick...floating hands', distracting second hand, the dot over I....sort of over thought, over designed in my opinion.
I reallllllly dont like the raised vertical bars on the dial. Just so distracting in a bad way.
IWCs are far from perfect pilots but they are much better looking in this category. Still find them too expensive for the product they sell, but I will choose them before this Zenith.
This Zenith reminds me watches from Victorinox and Hamilton, it looks cool but not enough to pay 7.500$ for it.
