Irrigreen looks great. But when I called them they didn't have any installers in Southern Indiana. Wanted to sell everything to me to install myself. Hope sometime in the future there are more installers for this product.
I’m in Southern Indiana and installed mine DIY. Took about an hour per head. Any irrigation installer can do this in one day depending on how big the system is.
I remember back in the 80's I stayed with an inventor who developed a sprinkler system based on soil moisture and the weather forecast. I'm not sure why that never took off.
depends on a few things. relative humidity, soil type, grass type etc.. overall I personally prefer to water 4x per week for most soil types other than sand
Big solution for a big area. Once the AI system is integrated, sounds like it will be hands off. Do you think AI watering systems for beyond home-gamer areas will ever have water depth sensors? (Great interaction with the guy. Bet he was pissed about being sold an inadequate system!)
It's a non intelligent ai system, meaning It does what we tell it to. The coolest part about it is instead of telling it. How much time you want to water per week, You tell it how many inches of water per week and specify the boundaries. The updates people are referring to, including myself, are having partial areas in a specific zone that you can control Different amounts of water. This comes in super handy in the situation that I faced, but also for people who have different soil types in one zone. it doesn't happen often, but it does happen
I have a Mantis electric rototiller that came with a dethatcher attachment. I was astonished the first time I used it. It was like magic. It pulled out thatch 10” deep over the entire yard. I filled the big yard waste bin six times for a small front yard (10’ x 30’).
@@jefferyw4867 with its current design it requires a 1" pipe from the manufacturers recommendation. the head itself needs 40 to 80psi to push enough volume. I wouldn't recommend this setup if you cannot get an active 60psi through the line. hope that helps.
it would have been difficult to salvage the old system. The majority of the problem was the gpm of the heads installed was way to high, so the pressure was very low. with a slight design change in the south west corner and using hunter mp heads we could have gotten it. but everything considered it would have been close to $1500 to get it done correctly and it doesn't solve the issue of water getting on all his new concrete. so he figured he'd take his losses and go this route.
Irrigreen has a nice product but their customer service is terrible. Tried multiple times to get real information on getting it for my lawn and they would never follow through on their callbacks. My neighbor ended up getting it and has had few issues with it and needing parts replaced. They really need to sell the idea to Hunter or one of the big companies so it can get to the next step. They aren't equip to do volume sales and installs which is sad with such a good idea.
so we not going to talk about how terrible these sprinklers are for any grass within 3ft of it because of the pressure its throwing straight at the ground? it even shows in this video
@PestandLawnGinja Well done, very professional. Definitely a huge improvement! I wanted to ask some questions about these sprinklers. What's the minimum and maximum radius of these heads? Also, how well do they handle long distances? For instance, if I were to do a lawn renovation, topdress, and overseed, would these sprinklers disturb the seed and soil over long distances? I can imagine they might wash away the seed at close range which isn't a big deal I could always use a plugger. Overall, it seems like a fantastic piece of technology. It definitely saves a lot of work with trenching, laying pipe, laying wire, and installing valves and valve boxes.
@@LegendaryLawnCare89 they're rated 25 to 30ft from the head itself. I found with a psi of 60 it sprays about 27ft. psi of 80 it will do 31ft. I place the heads no longer than 27ft in case of pressure issues. All super valid questions. I haven't tried to seed with this system since I've had it. but..... The droplet sizes are big and i would anticipate some movement and some disruption. how much..... I'm not entirely sure yet. The close range vs further out isn't as big of a deal as it appears on camera. they've done a fantastic job to ensure pressure and volume stays equal from the closest to the largest throw. What i'm most excited about is the amount of water i'm saving by not watering the sidewalks and drive ways.
@@pestandlawnginja Thanks this seems like a great solution for some properties. I love your channel btw. You run your company and channel like a pro. I've definitely learned a few things and I'm a turfgrass bible heh.
The Irrigreen system is great but it is super overpriced. If you price the unit and go to the checkout window they are charging $750 for a 3 year software, monitor, weather data which is ridiculous. I pay $0 for the monitor system of my Enphase microinverters for my solar system and it captures and saves all my data and monitors the system and I had it for over 7 years. Also, Tesla charges me $99 a year for "premium connectivity" which gives me internet and I can watch Netflix, Hulu, Prime etc, access to premium music apps, play off line games and online games, traffic data, autopilot updates which actually AI neuro-nets and free software updates. Irrigreen needs to remote that charge and leave the controller at $820 by itself. To add the Oto Sprinklers above ground offers the same monitoring, weather data and pressure control adjustments for free with the so call "AI".

Yah, they are a parts dealer. It's an easy setup if you were able to find an installer local they shouldn't have any issues

what a comeback, proper watering and a little fertilizing is gonna go a long way.
💯
Putting in the work
I love the what’s wrong with my lawn series
👊🤩
Wow…!!! This is a tough one..!!
But very interesting sprinkler
It really is!
Nice work brother.👍🏻🇺🇸
What a great update video, thank you for sharing this with us!
You bet!
Great update on this big improvement 👍🏻
Thanks 👊😃

Interesting. I'm not sure who that was but I will say the soil sensor life is tough considering how many you'd need to get accurate zone data
Seven days, amazing!
Agree!
French drain? Thanks, now ya tell me.
How about the other house from this series? Any update?
Coming soon
Wow. This is so relatable to my rainbird system on my 500 square foot yard 👎. Next
?
How deep are you looking for wetness on the soil probe so you know if you're irrigating properly?
I prefer 6" of soil saturation
What's up boss?? Do you recommend watering lawns daily or every other day?

Water depth sensors are difficult considering the amount you'd need to have valid and reliable feedback
Thanks for clearing that up for me!

That's awesome! I've had a few yards I've experienced that on. Its wild!
Hey buddy, thanks for the share. I can not click on your irregreen link
Fixed it. Thanks for the heads up
@@pestandlawnginja it's a requirement for that sprinkler to have a 1 inch line?
@@jefferyw4867 Pretty much, check out Jimmy Lewis, he's another Utah-tuber who put in Irrigreen.

I am sick of irrigation contractors that never do the job right. I have had 4 irrigation systems installed and none did the job right.
It gets super frustrating
what is the cost of the system?
It depends on how many heads you will need. Process range from $999 on up
There was no way to salvage a new install? I hope he sues.

So far so good. The dirt is from it being freshly installed. Check my lawn
It's only not good if you are overseeding. Every other install I've seen works great. Check out Lawncology and Jimmy Lewis.

Everybody throwing around the term "AI". Not everything with smart programming behind it is AI.
Correct. If you look into the sprinkler head it will make more sense
That was not a spirnkler problem
spirnkler problem
Yeah dead dry lawn is definitely not a sprinkler problem 🤣
