Let’s not forget, it really took off, when he met Victoria, that’s when it went crazy.
And 'sir' Fergie shafted you. Like he did to Keano, Stam and the rest of them that gave him blood, sweat, tears and shitload of trophies. Like Keane said about him: People say Ferguson always does what is right for Man United. I don’t think he does. I think he does what is right for him. The Irish thing, when Ferguson took on major United shareholder John Magnier over stud rights to the champion racehorse Rock of Gibraltar. I was speaking to the manager about this. He was given a top championship racehorse worth millions by Magnier and then Ferguson sued Magnier because he also wanted the money from the stud rights. Incredible. That didn’t help the club, the manager going to law against its leading shareholder. How could it be of benefit to Man United? It wasn’t and we know what happened then. Magnier sells up, the Glazers come in and United's downward spiral begins. Because of his greed. A free horse? What was all that about? It’s amazing what happens. I look back at my relationship with him and I wonder if it wasn’t about me being good for him and good for the club. People said Ferguson always had the best interests of Manchester United at heart. Give me a break. Darren Ferguson, his son, won a medal. He was very very lucky to win a Premier league medal. Would he have got into another top club? Who knows but he was lucky. Ferguson’s brother was the chief scout for Manchester United for a long time. I’m surprised his wife wasn’t involved in the staff somewhere. Darren was the manager at Preston North End and lost his job. He had a couple of really good young players on loan from Manchester United, but guess what happens the next day after his son is let go? They’re all pulled out of Preston. Is that doing the best for Manchester United? Do me a favour. Which part of that is not nepotism? Or putting the club first? Fergie was a flawed person who often put the club in the firing line ahead of his own interests. That's why the Glazers are at the club now! Also remember him missing a really important Manchester derby because he was at his sons wedding in South Africa. Didn't matter. Steve McClaren stepped in. We won and went on to win the league. Had we lost people might remember him missing that game, but we didn't. We got the job done. Ferguson, who was always adamant that his players must put the club first misses a derby game to fly to the other side of the world for a wedding? Give me a break.

I remember watching this, and when he got a red card I changed the channel. The fact he was even carded, much less thrown out of the biggest match played every four years, was the most ridiculous decision by an official in probably the history of sports. And this was 1998, when people weren’t as soft as they are now. And then seeing what they said about him the next day and weeks. The fans should have hunted down the official. I enjoy watching what we Americans call soccer, I played from a three year old through high school and recreationally through my 20s and 30s, but it’s shit like that is why 99% of my county fellow Americans can’t stand to watch. Funny there's an aura around old Manchester memorabilia. It has an old English heritage feel. And this oozes that. He's one of the giants of the club.

It's interesting to think that if SAF didn't liked or believed in Beckham, he would have a completly different life.
