Even though this doc is about the Beckham, focusing more on David but... Victoria really stood up. She is the backbone in their marriage. Imagine having to handle all the logistic of moving from, not a diff house, but from country to country and taking care of your kids so that your husband can play football and be the best. On top of that, she had to deal with his affairs and hate from Spain + some of his fans. Wow. No wonder she always look stoic in the press. She is more vulnerable in this documentary.

@@racheleddy1030 maybe this is what you see, but when I see this judgmental reaction to millionaires and celebrities, it just comes across as jealous. I know you don't think you are jealous, but who are you truly saying this for? Victoria can't hear you, you know that, so who is this for? What is the behaviour of a doormat in one persons eyes is behaviour of strength and commitment to another. The only person that knows whether she is a doormat or not is herself, because she knows what her selfworth is made of, and it is for me obvious that a person that can not respect another woman with her choices, has no understanding of respect, and therefore not even the resources to have any selfrespect.
Learn to respect yourself before you go online and act like calling someone else a doormat will distract from how little respect you have for yourself, you know what trouble it caused you, it is extremly obvious as much as you think it isn't.

Marriage, specially for so many years goes with up and downs, nobody knows what they were going through. There's a lot of people who cheats and no one knows about it, and there are a lot of women who know their husbands cheat and they don't say anything to not losing him. There are a lot of unhappy marriages that live by appearance. And there are few marriages that survive problems. Yes, he cheated, like almost every man in their marriage if they can, but he redeemed him self, to save his marriage and family. Not like others these days, that cheat and instead of accepting what they do wrong, they want to make the couple feel guilty, and have no affective responsibility, instead they make look their couple like crazy and codependent for feeling hurt.

At the end of the day, it’s not easy being with one person your whole life, no matter how much you love them. All that really matters is how you feel about the person you are with, married or not. Just because you might look at or fancy someone else, doesn’t mean shit. People need to stop being up their own arses about other people’s relationships and maybe think about why it bothers them

Not excusing cheating in any way but the docuseries was really good. They said neither of them had a lot of friends in school and came from working class families (though hers may be been better off with the quips about what her father drove her to school in). They both got famous and shot into another world as young adults and initially had each other to navigate all that. He says several times in the series how much he missed her if she was away. Doesn't seem like that would be a roll in the hay affair by the pain from both 20 years later. Their marriage survived longer than most in America - especially stars. They both seem happy and normal and clearly love their kids/did their best to raise non spoiled brat kids. I think his face/expressions say all they need to about the affair but he said it was their private family matter not to lie/hide it b/c whatever was said would be hard for her and the kids. I wasn't a Beckham, Spice Girl, or soccer fan but somehow binge watched the series on a rainy day. Really well done. They still seem smitten 20+ years later.

Love it. This is what documentary all about, not trashing and blaming family or others.
Why focused on the affairs? There’s many great points in the documentary.
The way he was brought up from humble beginnings with great supporting parents . His hard work, marvellous talent, skills and being smart from younger age. Whatever he had now because he worked hard for it. He knew that someday he cannot be a footballer for a long time so he was smart enough to think about his future after football.
David made mistakes and owned it. He got all the abuse , spat and treated unfairly but he never reacted back badly. Hence he reacted by doing what he does best, performing his best in the pitch. He loves his wife, children and their family. It seems to me he is a good man.
