    The most misunderstood about Messi is his work ethic. People always thinks the talent does it for him but as Becks told Rio, he works harder than most players to get where he is. And if you really think about it and you've played competitive yourself, you know its impossible to get to a high level without hard work, even with the best talent. Messi is a winner and the greatest of all time.

    • @whitenbald

      Totally agree - you can't get to this top level without obsession and hard work. Talent only takes you so far (although it would take Messi pretty far tbh).

    What was so unique about him as a player was his consistency when it came to crossing, long diagonal passing and set pieces. It was so rare to see him produce a bad pass, no matter the distance. Also, whenever he got a freekick within shooting distance you just knew there was a strong possibility it was going to end up in the net.
    Looking back, there was definitely a long period of time where he was under appreciated as a player by those who weren't united fans. Undoubtedly one of the most technically gifted players England has produced.

    Most people think that only CR trains hard, but Messi wouldn't be at this world class level without constant hard training. He just doesn't brag about it all the time or feel the need to show it all over social media. He's a shy and humble guy who doesn't NEED praise for the things he does. Messi is an authentic, hard working, insanely talented person.

    • @awfan221
      @awfan221 20 днів тому +9

      I think they do different type of training though. CR7 does more gym work than Messi, but I wouldn't be surprised if Messi actually spends more time on the grass shooting the ball. And as you said, Messi doesn't publish much stuff on social media. In fact he seems to post his wife and kids more than anything.

    Beckham, in his prime, was extremely popular both as a player and personality so I wouldn't consider him "underrated". Football fans underappreciated him probably because he is not all-rounded (ie: can't take players on with fancy skills, don't do aerial challenges, seldom go into tackle to win possession, etc). His best ability was crossing the ball and he does it with distinction, possibly the best ever. And crossing is perhaps an underrated skill of the game because this is the final-ball and simply results in goals. Beating 2 players at the wing without the right pass does not result in a goal. Beckham's game can turn good strikers into golden boot winners.

    Insightful interview.
    This is the first time I've ever watched Becks in ANY interview; I was never a fan of his.
    But watching him in this interview, the way he carries himself, his body language, his choice of words and his general EQ, I'd have to say he is corporate leader material through and through. As a retired corporate type myself, I mean this in a respectful and positive way. He's a good role model. Honestly, if I had any children, I'd save this interview video for my kids to watch.

    Players like Messi Ronaldo and past legends like Pele and Diego I believe are a gift from God, There just built different especially mentally, look at how long Messi and Ronaldo have been playing at the highest level they still train better than anyone and never let their standards drop as soon as they notice their standard dropping that's when they'll walk away, Have to admire there devotion and love of the game...

    I named my dog Beckham. I am a Saints fan and my hero growing up was Letissier... however, the reason I named my dog Beckham and Not LeTiss, is cause everytime Becks was on the pitch either for Man Utd or England; he made stuff happen, he was relentless. He pressed, ran and then on top of it all, his right foot was majic and I think he was the best crosser of a ball in world football history; plus that free kick!

      that generation as a whole were levels above the players you see today. they had that masculine energy as players. today it feels like watching boys play. players that played upto the late 90's era and the ones to maybe started just after that such as cr7 and messi are the last of it. those players equalivelent of an ipad was a football. kids are growing up with way too much enetertainment distractions today. Football is becoming more athletic and less skill.
