      @@algray1195 Hey Al. Thank you so much for the kind words and watching. I’m glad you enjoy the videos and I’m in the process of making more content for everyone. The spray booth was purchased and it’s from Master Airbrush. It’s actually portable and there is an exhaust fan with a hose attachment. I’ll post a link here where you can find it on Amazon for more information. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

    I have seen a lot of weathering builds but you absolutely nailed it. I grew up on a farm and this is a farmers truck. Not over done, it's just what we use to see pull up in the hay fields or at the tobacco barns when neighbors came together to help each other. It takes me back. You even captured the smell the interior!!! I have never attempted to weather a model but you have inspired me Sir. Off to Hobby Lobby tomorrow morning to pick up a pickup. Thank You.

    An excellent video. I had already planned to make this kit my next model and like you, my thoughts were to make it a "time-weary" daily driver, so this video is extremely useful for me and very inspiring. I'm glad to hear that the kit goes together well. The reason being that I'm just finishing a '62 Bel Air and it's fought me all the way and taken forever, so I need a change of pace.
    Anyhow, I like your choice of colours on this model and I think the end result looks superb. I'm going to try a two-tone green, I think (probably not factory colours, but hey-ho. Such is our privilege as model builders).
    You've helped me make up my mind about the chrome becoming white; it looks so much better! I may also try the use of a black primer for the shadow effect, too.
    I've used the "hairspray" technique before and it worked out well. I find weathering a lot of fun, as long as you don't get carried away. Sometimes less is more.
    Another tip for large chrome wheels is to give them a coat of Tamiya Smoke (X-19) which tones them down and makes them look far less "toy-like".
    Anyway, keep up the good work. Thank you for sharing, for your inspiration and keeping the fun in the hobby.

    Like I said about the hood parts I would glue them in place hold the side parts in place a few minutes to set then put it aside next day the side hood parts would be on table or laying flat inside hood

    • @blkft
      @blkft 3 роки тому

      I built three of these hoods and haven't had that problem. The 65 Stepside, 66 Fleetside, and 66 Suburban. I use a emory board and carefully square/true up the parts to each other and test fit them. I use a tiny dab of BSI thick CA on the corner of each part. Then follow up with a brush of Plastiweld or Tamiya capillary glue/weld.
      Afterward when cured enough (a few minutes) I'll take a emory board and true up any minor mismatched edges then square up the hood to the body if needed.
      On the Suburban I used Testors precision cement instead of CA to tack glue the hood parts.

    • @MyHobbyWorkShop
      @MyHobbyWorkShop  3 роки тому +1

      That's a great technique to use and would have helped me a lot. I'm thinking of possibly doing another one of these kits but as a cleaned up version so I will definitely try this out. Thanks for the tip!!

    Hello! Amazing work. How I can do the rusty effect? First primer brown and then sanding? Thank's

    • @MyHobbyWorkShop
      @MyHobbyWorkShop  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much! Yes, the primer I used was Rust-oleum Rusty Metal Primer but any rust color will work. Then I lightly sanded until the primer color started to show through. For different color variations of rust I used a product called “Testors Creative FX rust stain” and some other craft paints that were different shades of the primer color. Hope this helps and greatly appreciate the kind words.

    Doing this kit myself right now, also planning on doing a rusting weather job very similar. i've never done the hair spray technique but i may give it.a try based on your results. how did you touch up your chrome and other parts after cutting them off the sprue? i tend to take them all off, clean them up and assemble what I can prior to paining. i also use a degreaser on the chrome, clean them up and then rechrome after since i can never get the touch ups to look right. i'll be adding garbage such as old chip bags, a scratch build trash can, beer/pop cans etc, thinking of making the seat look torn. what did you use for the chain? that is a nice addition. overall good work.

    • @MyHobbyWorkShop
      @MyHobbyWorkShop  3 роки тому

      watch my latest video, I did the sat method and honestly preferred it over the hairspray but both work well. I just cut the sprue with sprue cutters and filed it down as close as I could. I painted over the chrome since this was a gonna be old I figured it wouldn’t matter. The chains were literally little chain from hobby lobby. In my last model I used some metal form a coke can to make a license plate. Thanks for watching friend!

The boards are just small popsicle sticks I cut, the “chicken wire” is a patch used to fix your window screen and the little chain was just some small chain I found at hobby lobby.
