im am so glad these old MPC kits are coming back out, i was wondering about 10 years ago if some company would get these old molds and start re-issueing them again, i guess my whish came true i recently bought the 68 Coronet Convertable and im waiting to get the hardtop version, plus i want that new 1971 Demon kit. i found your channel about a month ago and love it, it is the best model channel on youtube, thanks ps keep them coming. oh ya im in Canada so it takes longer than you Americans to get these kits.
Model reviews aren't supposed to get you choked up, but I grew up in a blue collar family and your little story to go along with the model got me right where it hurts.
Bought a 1976 Dodge new 318 silver long bed black int white rims , l think it had a black plastic gas tank brought back good memories , paid 4,444.00 including license and taxes out the door those were the day's thanks for sharing your build great job
Thank you for posting this. My first vehicle was a 85 Power Wagon W250. It sat in a field for 15 yrs before I came across it. So many memories getting it running , and it breaking down. I picked one of these kits up , and even thought the grills are different, I'm still painting it in memory of my 85.
What a great job !!! I do have to admit this one set off my OCD. I was doing fine with the green door, but the mis-matched mirrors and the one mag wheel sent me over the edge. LOL
Another awesome build. My Dad used to have a Ford in Daytona Yellow - it was a magnet for Bees, Wasps, and flies in the summer, who were mistaking it for a giant flower!
Always like when they have all the extra little accessories in these kits. Thanks for great build again. You made it so interesting, not just another truck.
thx for taking us along on your bench work! i really like the subtle evolving of your channel. ive been watching you for a couple years now. slipping in the remark at the end about the powerwagon was spot on ! i hope the kats @ round2 let that one soak in for a few! that build looks like it would be from the same construction crew from the gear hustler el camino you built last year
I love these trucks my dad had a orange 79 power wagon long bed with a 360 in it when I was a kid we used it to hall scrap metal and fire wood and go 4 wheeling It had no lift I’m in my 20s I haven’t spoke with my father in a long time we don’t really get along anymore but I think he still has that old truck good times
This is by far my favorite model assembly of yours to date!! I had this exact truck, brought back a lot of memories! Mine was the blue color that is on the box art. I had the Cragar 5's with the fatty's on the back...miss that truck...great video. Thanks for sharing. :)
The motor is actually a big block 400-440 engine. MPC made a nice small block in the 75 Dart Sort kit that will drop in there and look great. I used it in the Little Red Truck kit to make it look semi correct. Thanks for the video and I'm looking forward to the release of this kit.
Thanks for spending some of your day with us at the Workshop and leaving a nice comment! If you haven't already, come join the fun on Facebook at hpiguys Workshop
Came out very, very nice! Back in the 80's, I was living in Champagne, Illinois.. and a friend of mine had a small landscaping business while we were going to school.. and he had a truck that looked just like that.. hood a different color.. mismatched wheels.. I thought of him as soon as I saw this truck :)
What a terrific job you make me want to build models again I have a hundred and fifty models I'm not kidding you mostly a muscle cars cuz I'm a Ford muscle car nut but I love them all and I love the talent you make it look so easy
@@hpiguy hey bud I was wondering what glue do you use do you use to use super glue on everything cuz I know the old standard tester glue takes forever to dry and what's a really good brand of glue super glue that you use and if I could ask why do you use Rust-Oleum to seems off-the-charts opposed to any other paint and if I may ask one more LOL I see that you use that floor shine for your final but I've seen you use clear coat to how come you would do that or both I appreciate your response thank you again great work
I used to build models when I was a kid in the 60s, they were t as complicated like they are now, wish they would go back to having metal Axel's for both ends like they used back them. You could Jack the car up, or lower it. Used to take a red ink pen an make redline tires if they didn't come with the kit. Had a lot of fun building those kits. You could buy 3or 4 kits for what one cost now.
Reminds me of an 87 Ram short bed a former neighbor of mine had. He shoehorned a 440 out of a late 70's Montico after going through it and freshing it up. We used to fry the rear tires on that thing. The neighbors loved us. Lol
It's the "mis matched" things that add both detail and deepen the story. Very nice. You are an artist whose canvas is styrene - WOW. Thank you for sharing...
Man that thing turned out GREAT! :D Really enjoyed watching this one (as always), love the way you weatherd it and did the door/wheels like that, looks like a real truck I would have seen back in the day as a teen in the 80's beatin' around. Nicely done B)
I built the 1984 4x4 long bed release of this era dodge. Mine was missing suspension and drivetrain so robbed an old lifted ramcharger kits lifted suspension and wheels and made my own 440 six pack from my spare parts. I stole the transfer case from an old parts bronco I had too. It’s just an old custom mud truck but definitely better than a stock build
Fantastic work! Great looking truck, very realistic. I learned to drive in a turquoise ‘67 Dodge pick-up... would love to find a scale model of that year someday.
Great build and review Chris! Well done...and when you buy a kit from Jack @ Model Roundup nothing could be better than that! Great job and thanks for sharing Chris...
now that was a different way to build the truck I liked the rusted used truck look and adding a different door was a nice touch as with the different rims, nice build
This too is an awesome build man! LOVE the music you play during the spray process. You ALWAYS make each of these videos VERY entertaining! I am VERY curious to see what the next build is?
Very Nice! I'm glad these are back out. I do wish they came with a second hood tho. A Scoop Hood, like the one I had back in the 70's. Gonna definitely buy this kit tho. Thank you for sharing! I really enjoy your Builds.
Can't wait to get mine! I'll build it as a working truck since that's what they were. I noticed that you didn't strip the "chrome" from the valve covers before painting the engine and I'm wondering how well the primer and paint will adhere to them. I don't know what others use to strip chrome but I learned (by accident!) that if you soak the parts in Coca-Cola over night, the plating will wash right off. F.Y.I. you can get just about any color of engine paint you want, as well as body colors, in spray cans at any auto parts store.
Did that turned out way better than I thought it's great to me but I didn't watch a build the mini bike yet but I will Great great great concept definitely turned out into a hot rod shop truck I've seen him that old beat down like that too but anyway enjoying as usual
It's good to see that you actually built the model so you know what you're talking about in the kit review. I know it's a reissue of an old MPC kit so I find it a little strange that there's no emblem markings on the cab or Dodge name on the hood. What about the tailgate?
Decals? That's a switch from the original kit, isn't it? At least with decals, you wouldn't have to paint those tiny letters. I have several other years of 1970's Dodge Pickup kits and will have to compare.
Currently doing this kit and wondering the the parts are for on the tree with the radiator, spare tire and toolbox. Crossmembers or something maybe? They do not have a place in the instructions. Thanks love the videos, you’re the reason i got into modeling. Parts in question can be seen at 1:35
Funny you should do a single "alloy" wheel on the truck. I do recall Top Gear and Richard Hammond buying a Dodge truck with a single alloy wheel on it when they drove through the south. Model kit looks great and looks like a nice clean mold.
Been looking for this kit like crazy my wife has me open a gift early and she managed to find it gonna try to build it bases off my 89 d100 not 100% the same but old dodges didnt change mucj

That is a mopar it's molded well and it looks like a good investment brings back some of those memories haha
I just picked up a 1977 dodge d100 slant 6. She started today after three years of sitting pretty badass.
Another awesome build. My Dad used to have a Ford in Daytona Yellow - it was a magnet for Bees, Wasps, and flies in the summer, who were mistaking it for a giant flower!
I had a Daytona Yellow Ford too.... Faded badly and every insect in the country was having sex on it...

WOW Chris, you really out did yourself on this build/review. This well worn work truck is spot on!! EXCELLENT build and presentation on this one.

3 years late, but yes... distributor on the front of the engine = B/RB engine
This guy is super cool how he puts a little story behind the truck and mini bike for his son

Love the “beater” look on this one mate, all the mix-matched parts and weathering details really suit it. Nice one
Thanks Dale!
This came out amazing Chris. Everything looks the part. I was loving the steely missing the hubcap that was a great touch.
Thanks much Brian!
Excellent build Chris! Loved your weathering, choice of colors, that green door as well as the mis matched wheels!
Thanks a lot John!
Looks like you shrunk down a real ol' truck, VERY realistic, very nice, thank you

Pretty cool build. If I ever get one of those, I wanna paint it Panther Pink!
That will stand out!
Love it! 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻😍

Yes, mid 60s POWER WAGON.
I always liked the 56
In college I drove a 1974 Dodge pick-up. It had the 225ci slant six engine, 3 speed on the column
Awesome work and great detail in your work!
Thank you very much!

Thanks!
Great kit, great job, typical hard working family truck. 279,000 miles, little late for an oil change, smokes just a tad. Extremely dependable. Nice.
Little blue smoke off the line but she's got another 50K in her!
I always enjoy your storytelling
Thanks man!
Wow! Chris, great build. I really like how you got the rust in all the right places. Nice realistic build.
