Bought 2 brand new 2015 Hyundai Elantras the same day. 1 for me and 1 for my wife. At 20k mine started knocking loudly when starting while engine was cold. Knocking would last 4-5 seconds depending on how long it sat cold. Hyundai told me this is normal. I asked then why wasnt it knocking for the first 20k miles ??? Meanwhile my wifes car had 18k i was driving while my car was at dealership. I noticed blue smoke coming from back of her car while getting on the freeway. Well the car would smoke while accelerating on entrance ramps. So i brought her car up for service the day the dealer returned my car unfixed. Next day dealer said they couldn't find anything wrong with my wifes car and its ready to be picked up. Traded both cars in that were less than 2.5 yrs old for 2 brand new Honda civics and couldnt be happier. Never will purchase a kia/Hyundai ever again.
My brother bought a new 23 Hyundai Sonata and it burned/consumed oil from the start. Was up to 1/2 quart per 1000 miles by 3500 miles. Dealer would do nothing until it got to over 1 quart per 1000 miles. He dumped it and got a Civic. 0 oil consumption in 6500 miles.
Don’t be fooled by the Hyundai warranty yes is a great warranty. However, my mom has a 22 venue with 50k miles roughly and we’ve had weird issues with it. Touchscreen likes to randomly not work when starting the car they did a software update and was told if it continues the screen would have to be replaced it continue to do it, and we were told that if it wasn’t doing it when the car arrives at the dealership, they were charged us a service fee. we’ve also noticed a hesitation when accelerating from a stop or after coasting and then getting into the gas pedal again, it will hesitate and we got the same runaround if it’s not doing it when we take it to the dealership, we have to pay a service fee. We’ve also had weird issues with it where it will say a bulb is burned out and it’s working just fine. We’ve also had pre-collision system malfunction warnings come up that go away.

I have a 2024 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid. The powertrain has been used in many Hyundai Hybrids for the past ten years with little to no issues. They’re a lot more reliable than some of the other 4 cylinder Hyundai’s/Kia’s
Bought my Elantra GT in November 2015 New, it is a 2016 model and has been a great reliable car. It has had a battery, new tires, oil changes and filters. Still runs like it did when it was new.
Rental cars are usually kept in good shape, brakes, oil changes, servicing as manufacture suggests. Since they're well maintained they get a better price.
Funny that you're talking about the cars with the plate readers on them. I saw one a few weeks ago and I didn't know what it was now that you say it now I know what it was.
On average, the quantity of cars on a repo lot, auction lot, or any other lot, is at steady state. It may go up or down for a month, but the amount of space is the amount of space. If a bank or dealer makes a car sit there for 6 months, it helps the lot fill up, and it eventually helps drive the prices down of what is actually selling off the lot. Eventually the lot is less than 100% full again, or the cars are going somewhere else. It is not sustainable to have a lot which is full with nothing selling, that is called storage rather than auction. Sellers eventually take market price. Any one specific car not priced to sell, is just like a boulder in the river. The flowing water goes around it. Ignore the boulders, buy something that is in the flow. The lots can reduce the number of boulders by charging the crap out of sellers, for storage fees.
I'm surprised by how much I like the interior design on that Elantra. Super clean and simple, plus physical controls for the HVAC is a winner. Such a great economical commuter.
I had a 2010 Kia Forte brand new off the lot with 11 miles on it kept it four years. The only thing that I had a problem with was that the oil pan kept leaking but the dealership kept fixing it free of charge. Unfortunately I had to have knee surgery and couldn’t stand to ride in it anymore because it sat way too low to the ground. Traded it in for a used 212 Ford escape limited. The used car dealership I traded it in to got it for his daughter saw him a few months ago and he said his daughter still drives it and other than routine maintenance and him replacing the oil pan rtv gasket every twenty thousand miles or so it has never given her a single issue. Almost 220k miles later.
2:07 I’ve seen this before. What happens is the dealer approved them for a loan. Then they drive the car home. Get a call a few days later maybe a week later saying” there’s been a problem with your loan and we’re gonna use to bring the car back” sleazy dealer
I had a older Sanfe and looked it all the options but hit a deer messed it up fixed it then two months later hit another one this time insurance totaled it out. It was 2009 I still miss it. Had to have quick reliable transportation and bought a 2002 Toyota solora just gave it to my daughter only has 120 k on it. Had 100k when I bought it with a salvage title.
The 2GR engine was used in virtually all V6 FWD Toyota products from 07 until very recently. It's a 3.5L. A variant of it was also used in the Tacoma from 2016-2023.

The original owner may have passed away . Few years ago my brother passed and Mazda had a company tow his car to a auction site , it only had 3000 miles on it .
The bank has a valuable asset; they may have unrealistic price but they’ll come down in time and get most of what they are owed. A lot of what makes the loans unsupportable is the interest and fees tacked on by the loan companies.
0:43 actually it’s pretty well known that they will do anything they can do void the warranty. I mean stupid shit like if somebody puts a cold air intake they’ll avoid the warranty. Now I did lease two brand new Elantra. I had 2013 and a 2017 both fully loaded and they were great because they were new and both had less than 30,000 miles on them by the time the lease was up. I also had the genesis 3.6 V6 naturally aspirated rear wheel drive 350 hp coupe fully loaded and that car was awesome. Leasing worked well for me because I own my own company. Therefore, I use my company vehicle for work therefore I can keep the mileage down on any vehicle that I lease.

I've been shopping for our daughter a car and the repo's are a great start for her. Unfortunately, they are all trying to sell under a high reserve that just aint in our budget. Sooner or later, those have to sell. Theyre gonna be overwhelmed soon.
On top of plate readers, there are some that will have gps transmitters installed on the car. More likely if financed through the company selling or had been a rental car.

I'll bet a car lot flooded. I sold cars on a smaller lot. We did not own most of the newer cars. They were owned by a finance company. Basically the cars were on consignment. A person from the finance company came by once a week and inventoried the cars. That would also explain where some of the cars are going....back to other lots.
Westlake services is moving them from Florida on up to North Carolina. Dispersing them throughout as many auctions as they can and hope for the best. Notice all the sand and marshy remnants. #hurricanesalvage

That Lexus engine is the most reliable engine Toyota has. Look into it. I have seen that 3.5 with over 500k. Those also hold there value very well. 10 years old with 100k miles still sale for 20k retail.
I bought a 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe brand new in 2015, it had an electrical issue that took them two years and me suing them to get fixed. I even had a service manager infer that I didn’t want or couldn’t afford the car, until by the grace of God the car finally died on them. For two years I kept telling them to take the car back and give me an exact replacement, they refused, gave me the run around, and in the end what it ended up costing them, it would have been cheaper for them to do what I requested. I agree, Hyundai makes a good product, but the way I was treated, I’ll never own another Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis product….

Hyundai was doing the fixes but they wasn't dropping brand new motors in em my girl had a 14 sonata & the motor went out fall of 20 & Hyundai had the car 3 months they just get another motor out of a smashed one & drop it in she got the car back & didn't like it the dealer told her ok we fixed it if it goes out again she's on her own & it would cost 6k so the next month we got her a equinox with the 3.6 was a good ass car only had to do a batter lower control arms & struts then a cab driver totaled it
About dodging the repo tow truck. How can someone go years with an expired license plate and registration? Some states give 2 yrs on the registration. So 2 yrs would be the max.

I have a 2022 elantra hybrid, bought new. Never any issues. Push button start, heated seats, all the electronic warning systems & I get around 55 mpg.
I got a 2024 Elantra limited I was going to get the hybrid but I was scared about the reliability. Have you had any issues?

I have a '23 Elantra, no issues -nice car with lots of options. That one looks like a mid level one.

That Lexus engine is the most reliable engine Toyota has. Look into it. I have seen that 3.5 with over 500k. Those also hold there value very well. 10 years old with 100k miles still sale for 20k retail.
I bought a 2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe brand new in 2015, it had an electrical issue that took them two years and me suing them to get fixed. I even had a service manager infer that I didn’t want or couldn’t afford the car, until by the grace of God the car finally died on them. For two years I kept telling them to take the car back and give me an exact replacement, they refused, gave me the run around, and in the end what it ended up costing them, it would have been cheaper for them to do what I requested. I agree, Hyundai makes a good product, but the way I was treated, I’ll never own another Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis product….
That's the base model Genesis without door handles. If you want door handles, you have to move up to the LX trim.

Hyundai was doing the fixes but they wasn't dropping brand new motors in em my girl had a 14 sonata & the motor went out fall of 20 & Hyundai had the car 3 months they just get another motor out of a smashed one & drop it in she got the car back & didn't like it the dealer told her ok we fixed it if it goes out again she's on her own & it would cost 6k so the next month we got her a equinox with the 3.6 was a good ass car only had to do a batter lower control arms & struts then a cab driver totaled it
