Please do a follow up and show us that tremendous gold hammered coin after it's been straightened out. What a fantastic day for you all. That great triangle item may have been the head of a weapon from the bronze era. Keep digging in lovely Scotland, that's where the best of the best are found!
Well done fantastic find If you hand it in to Treasure trove you shall be lucky if you get it back in a year, they are pretty much not doing there job due to covid and the many changes at the museum plus they may not straighten it out, it's amazing how much gold is being found can't wait for the next one..
Great video and some nice finds, just joined your channel on the advice of Cleggy. Well put together video, keep them coming. Clear, concise and full of great content. Kind regards Andrew
@@thescottishdetectorist - Entirely my pleasure. I live in an area of North Carolina that was settled in the mid-1700s. I have found a few of those Tombac buttons, exactly like what you found, a few musket balls, a "Dandy Button" (large decorative coat buttons) a KGII half penny and one farthing. It's fun watching you guys pull all that old stuff. BTW my family name is Stewart. My family drove around Scotland in the 1970's, felt like home.
Wow!! Another find of a lifetime. And he's been metal detecting for 9 months only.... Congratulations to finder! You post great vids. Detecting fields like this one is like a dream for every metal detectorist out there. And I learn a lot about Scottish history as well, and about Kings and coins.
Hey lads, from Alaska, USA.. Good finds.. That folded Gold coin, I'd say it's been folded by farming instruments, and so the discoloration on the edge would be from rubbing on the plow! That's my guess and I'M sticken to it. This is my first time seeing your video. Will look for more. Thumbs up!!
I am watching your video because of Cleggy. His shout out has weight. But also he is a good judge. Enjoyed the video very much and of course the gold was spectacular. But overall good content even without it. I think you will have to invite Cleggy to your gold fields😉. The best of luck to you fellows.
The large "bullet" looks like a designer ball point pen cap or possibly a calligraphy pen well as with other small (bullet) bit later in vid. WOW! and congratulations on the hammered gold find! great shout out Clegg!
Wonderful finds indeed !! You all did very well , lots of old coins but that Gold Hammered Coin takes the cake ! Please do a follow up on that coin. After a big celebration at the local pub you might all be known as the Hammered Detectorists !! Cheers from Canada
13:51 pity that wasn't a gold "Sea Horse" (LOL). It's the long connecting rod off a ballcock float valve for cisterns and water tanks. Great compulsive viewing I've been telling everyone about your filmings, keep them coming.

Great finds and the hammered is incredible, will take some work to straighten it! (assume TT will be all over that!!) The heavy triangle thing is a iron insert from a clothes iron, would be heated on a fire prior to use. GL & HH
Do you ever check around the nearby water sources in areas that you detect? Everyone requires water and bathing and clothes washing results in lost items.
Ps. The unidentifide piece of ‘plough-like’ item is the insert for an clothes iron. It would be heated on the fire before being put into the clothes iron.
It's called a slug and is definitely for an old iron I dug one up at a garrison and it had markings on it. Cool find but not as good as that lovely gold coin.

Can’t believe it. Gold coins are apparently like buses! None for ages then two turn up at once. Can’t believe I had to wait 22 years and Marty gets a bigger one after 9 months 😆
There should be a law that until you recognize a gold coin, you aren't allowed to find them. You reminded me of a couple of things. First, strangely my thistles are not up. They usually are blooming by this time. Temps still in the 90's until Wednesday when a cool front blows through and drops to the upper 80's. So it's very late for the thistles....and almost sweating to see you all in hoodies. Second thing is that Wallace Simpson and I are distant cousins. Her mother was a Montague and so is my 2nd great g'mother.
What a cracking hunt! The George II was cool, even the pin was pretty cool, but that gold coin: WOW! I agree: gonna need a follow-up vid once you get it (professionally!) straightened. You make running commentary about "spendable" vs. not. Has the British gov't actually de-valued past currency? Here in the U.S., I could dig an 18th century large cent and still legally spend it (even though I wouldn't, of course). I don't think ANY of our money has been de-valued, except of course the Confederate States coinage (which is a country that no longer exists, naturally). Interesting stuff!
I'm with Peter on this, and I know you can't tell with pictures but it looks very dull for hammered gold and almost sure the edges are dark where the gold plating has rubbed off and the silver has oxidised. I also suspect that is why its been deliberately folded in such a way. I hope I'm wrong but a very interesting and rare find if it is indeed a counterfeit.
I've only been detecting a few times, each time with a borrowed metal detector. Where I live was a military base in both wars so there is a lot of garbage. After finding many shell cases I found a 1933 silver shilling. The soil here has plenty of natural iron, to find the Viking gold I'm going to need advice.
What a outstanding find! Martin! Some coin heaven guys! That one man has no respect for martins find. Good god man. Don't scrape on someone eleses find!
The jury is still out on this. The experts say it’s the real deal. A Flemish issue Gold Ryal of Edward IV but we won’t know for sure until it’s straightened and weighed and given the once over. Certainly seems to weigh around 8g with the mud attached, just not sure about that edge!
