Need some help with self care routines, or some inspiration for some easy self care habits? This video is for you. :)
Self care means knowing what we need to feel our best, and then trying to incorporate these things into our days consistently. Which I know, isn't always easy. :) Understanding the different types of self care has been very helpful for me in this regard, because it helps me to know which kind I need when, and to do a variety of different self care activities.
Lots of love,
🌼 Vera

It’s so good to be back from my break! 🙃 Which of these 10 types of self care are you best at? 👇
I am best at not comparing myself to others, spiritual and mental self care, but I need to exercise and take care of my body and physical fitness. 💚
It is so nice to have you back! ❤
Welcome back! 💚
Welcome back; I missed you so much! I hope you feel refreshed!
The timing of this is perfect! My favourite self-care activities are; getting out in nature for a walk or hike, meditation with headphones in so I can fully immerse, and reading a good book while the house is quiet.
Welcome back, you’ve been missed!
Has anyone read Dopamine Nation? It was really eye opening for me. Our mental health is negatively impacted by any addictive behaviors including too much social media, screen time, overeating, alcohol, smoking, over shopping. Any of these can get out of control and totally mess up our mental and physical health. All of these are so easily accessible and way too easy to get hooked
Sounds like an interesting book. Thanks for the tip!
I've heard of the book but haven't read it, I will certainly check it out
I'm going to have a look on audible, thanks for the recommendation. X
Added it to my list thank you !
Thank you,will get it
Love the sleeping kitty!
Haha I know, so cute!!!
It’s so important to practice what we preach. Thank you for modeling for us how to actually take care of ourselves. Your videos always make me feel better, calmer, and give me thoughts to ponder.
I'm definitely best at "Surroundings". I genuinely enjoy maintaining a clean, tidy minimalist house. I've never thought of it as self-care, but it is, isn't it? I love that! These are all great habits to strive for.
Welcome back Vera! Your attempt to explain at the end of type 8 without explaining 😂 that’s a really important part I think! ❤
Hahahaha 😂 Yes!
I am not good at forgiving myself. I tend to always blame myself for any argument I might have. Maybe because I am used to always be blamed for it... I don’t know, but my introvert and shy and closed personality make other people see me as insensitive and that leads to arguments and then I blame myself. And then I tend to close myself even more and I don’t talk about my problems and I bottle them up.
Art is my self care number one activity, because I love to draw, paint, stitch, machine sew, make books, etc. I also love to walk.
This was such a great video. See you next time 💙❤️💗💜💛🖤💚♥️🧡
I can empathise with you there
@@renataanniejanerebeccaamet4340 thank you so much, Renata 🙏❤️
A lot of times when I'm talking through something to say my mom, stepdad, or grandma I do get more insight. It's amazing
I’m glad you are back! Please don’t ever think we would leave you and please don’t ever doubt yourself when it comes to this stuff. You are sweet and wonderful and give such great advice. Your voice is so calming I could listen to you everyday. Take as many breaks as you need to stay well. We will always be here for you! ❤️
Aw thank you so much for your kind words Lori :) Take care and have a happy Monday!
I've just found you!
I'm going to sieve my matcha from now on. I like rituals, they're like anchors in a stormy sea...my life is lacking routine and money at the moment...I'm recovering from post pandemic stress/trauma xx
Welcome back, you nailed it! I needed this video today! Thank you for being there for all your community 💚
So happy you enjoyed the video!!! Thanks for the warm welcome back 🤗💕
When you think about your goals, when you put your time, energy, focus on achieving them most of the time, you become what you think about: a great success.
Lots of valuable self care tips here and a warm welcome back Vera. For me, coffee, books and walking my doggy friend are my self care :)
I love all three! 😄🤗💕 Have a wonderful weekend
Welcome back Vera, wonderful message as always!! I’m so glad you took time for yourself and I hope you continue your own self care. Trying NOT to be hard on myself is challenging, but I’m working on it. Love yoga, meditation and walking my dogs. Thank you for your commitment to healing💕🐺
Yes it's not always easy huh :) Working on it is wonderful! Baby steps :)
Love this video. I didn’t realise there were so many aspects of self care. Time to start implementing more of them into my daily life.
Lots of opportunities to practice self care :D
Welcome back Vera. I missed seeing your videos and rewatched some of the older ones and even found some that I had not previously seen. But I am glad that you took the time to prioritize your well being. Continue to do so. ❤ The timing of this video is perfect. I needed to hear about restorative self care. I'll be doing that this weekend.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. You are such a blessing to all of us.
One of my favorite points you made was that part of pampering can be simply being kind to yourself. Why is it so easy to overlook that? Lovely video. Thank you for your great content!
I think because it's not something that gets talked about a lot, or something that we learn as children as something important :) But it is!
Welcome back. So happy to see you safe and sound
So happy you are back Vera! Thank you for reminding us how important to take breaks. ❤️
I will say I am at 5. I have tried my entire life to have balance. Still a work in progress. I think it has a lot to do with who you live and work with. How people do their share of the work load. You can only have control of yourself. I have found I do more than my share of household chores inside and outside. This does lead to burnout and hard feelings. I try to do the best for myself and others. Most of the time it doesn't bother me but sometimes I feel exhausted with no time for myself. All work and no play. Thanks Vera for the video. Balance is very important for one's health, mental and physical. ☮️🌍🌲
Hi Jennie, thanks for sharing your thoughts! It's definitely still a continuous work in progress for me too :) Can totally see how you could sometimes feel frustrated, perhaps share these feelings with the people you live with? Sending you a hug!
@@SimpleHappyZen I do. The problem can be people are not always on the same page as you. ♥️
We have missed you Vera, glad to see you glowing from the screen. You look refreshed, and you definitely needed this break. Looking forward to your next videos :)
So happy to see that you're back Vera! Good to hear that your time off has made you feel a lot better. Keep taking good care of yourself. Thank you for the wonderfull video. A lot of helpfull advice. Enjoy your weekend! ♥️
I'm definitely best at the physical self care and inspirational self care. I love watching videos and listening to podcasts that inspire, and I have a great physical habit routine. I would like to incorporate more expression. Journaling always makes me feel so good and I need more of that in my life! Also starting work with a somatic therapist on Wednesday :)
Thanks for breaking this down in this way!
Thank you, Vera!!! I really needed these reminders today. Great to have you back! 😇
So glad to have you back and rested. Great video today!
Hi Vera ! I’m happy to see you come back ! Thanks a lots for all videos ! 😍🙏
Welcome back Vera! Ones again you are sooo right!! Thank you!
Welcome back Vera! You look great, relaxed, beautiful. I love this video! Just what I needed, I’ve been lacking at most areas of self care. I don’t think I can say I’m best at any. ❤
I LOVED this video! You self-care categories make so much sense, but I truly didn’t think of all of them as self-care. You are so soothing and refreshing. So glad you took time for yourself (practice what we preach 👍). Thank for creating this. Blessings from Canada! 🇨🇦💜🙏
It’s so nice to have you back Vera, you are glowing🤩. Perfect timing, it’s a total self care day for me. I woke up early, walked my dogs, had French toast with wild berries and latte, cleaned my space, I just came back from a half day hike with my sister, now it’s siesta and tonight it’s gonna be a nice bath and Netflix! Don’t wait too long before you take some time to recharge, we’re here 😊
So glad you’re back!! This video came at just the right time!! Thank you for sharing!!
I like the way that some of your self care tips were in specific categories relating to the mind , soul and body. I feel that this is more helpful for treating our whole selves. Sometimes how things are presented makes a difference. So they bear repeating. You asked what we are best at. I am best at inspirational self care through reading, playing with the dogs, going for a bike or moped ride. I have recently started with explorational self care by carving my first pumpkin. ha developing confidence in some arts and crafts areas that i have always put myself down about. You look recharged. Take care!
So good to see you back. Wonderful and helpful video as always. Thank you!
Welcome back and thank you!! Restorative! My nutrition is also a big part of my self care right now.
You look so refresh ….. Happy to see you back making videos ! ! !
🙏🏻
Thank you so much Teresa! Happy Monday :)
Good to have you back. Enjoyed this. You mentioned some types of self care I'd not thought of ...
Yeees so happy you're back ☀️
I needed this video 😍 Thank you for making my day better ☕
I agree with you 😊I am a minimalist and I love it ❤ trying to improve more and more 🤓
Thank you for putting all of this info in one video. This feels helpful.💞💞💞
This is one of my favorite of your videos, Thank you Vera! 🌿💖
So so grateful you are back! This was an amazing video. I had never thought about all these categories in this way and I’m going to do a personal inventory of what I enjoy or could explore in each of them. Thanks for continuing to share; you are a treasure ❤
Aw thank you so much, so happy you enjoyed the videos and found the categories helpful! :)
Welcome back vera😊 i missed your videos. Stay healthy and good vibes to you from the Netherlands. ✌🏼 i try to make my bed in the morning like a zen monk☺️
Perfect timing for this video, thank you!!
Hi Vera!
Thank you for making these kinds of videos. 🥰
Love from the Philippines! 🥰❤️
Welcome back! 💖 I enjoy your channel so much. You're sharing some great tips and I'll definitely try to implement them (esp tip number 5 explorational self care). Your content is always awesome! Thank you! ✨
Thank you so much Monika! Glad you enjoyed the video and found some helpful advice in there. Take care and have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Vera! Welcome back... take it easy and keep calm. Thank you for this video. Great tips for self care. Xo
Amazing video...welcome back vera🙏
You look so incredibly refreshed and glowing, Vera! The holiday was well deserved, for all your hard work. You may not feel 100%, but you look and sound totally refreshed. I have pushed myself into bad predicaments at times throughout my life as a type A++ personality. I cut everyone else some slack except for myself. I love your advice!
Thank you so much Renee for your kind comment! The fact that you recognize your tendency to be harder on yourself than you are on others, is already a great first step. Now you can just practice cutting yourself some slack as well :) Step by step is the way to go :)
Vera 🌸 I love your videos, I’ve been following you for years and you always inspire me ☺️ I resonate with all of these self-care habits and try to put them into practice every day… I really like what you said about not being so hard on ourselves and the 80% rule
Lots of love 💕 glad to see you’re back!
Thank you so much Erika for being around all this time, that's wonderful! 😁❤️
Happy to see you back! You look wonderful. Thank you for the helpful and thoughtful content that you provide us all, especially with this video. 😊
Thanks so much Diana! :) Happy to be back :) Have a great weekend!
I really enjoyed this list and look forward to implementing it more often 💚
So happy you're back and feeling better! I really need your videos right now going through a major change hoise move career change etc thank you!
Hi Nancy! Wow, those sound like really big changes. So excited for you! Take good care during this time, you can be extra with self care haha :)
🤩Yay!! Welcome Back!! & What an excellent message to start with. I enjoyed watching even your past vlogs. Continue to take care & be blessed! I'm focusing more on physical care at the moment especially as an elementary school teacher in a new position who has NOT been doing that since I returned to work on August 1st.
Thank you so much Maria!! :) Yes I have a few friends who are elementary school teachers, and they told me it's quite hard to look after yourself properly on work days when it's so busy, and when you don't have that much time to yourself.
Beautiful video Vera thank you so much!
Good to hear you are feeling better!🔆 thank you for a lovely video on a very important topic! Lieve groet van Esmee🤗✨
I am so grateful for your videos. This video was such a reminder to take care of ourselves. You look rested and I’m glad you had a nice break. I missed you and thank you for all you do!💕🤗
Sending you a big hug!! 😁💕
Hi Vera, Welcome back. It looks like you had a nice vacation. I love your content and channel. Thank you. Hugs. 🥰
Hey Vera! I’m so glad that your break was helpful. One thing in this video that you spoke about that I need to also work on is knowing when I need a break. I got sick this past Thursday, and just put on a mask and went to work. I mostly did this because I didn’t really have the PTO to use to call out for a whole day. On Friday, I still came in but was really feeling like I needed to go home and rest. My manager saw me in with a mask on and said that while she appreciated me coming in, I could let her know if I needed to leave. There was no point in pushing myself; I knew I was tired. I ended up going home early, and I feel so much better now. Still tired, but I’m taking it easy on myself. My health is way more important.
Thanks so much for this reminder, and for all of your content. I like the way you speak about minimalism. It’s not pushy or aggressive and it feels like something anyone can implement in a way that works for them. Thank you again :)
Welcome back.. missed your wonderful videos. So uplifting! 🌹
Thank you so much Susan!! :) Happy to be back! Have a nice day today
Great to watch your latest video… so full of great advice. Thank you🥰
Welcome back Vera! Hope you feel closer to 100 percent soon ❤ Always enjoy your videos, but was also happy you took a break when you needed it! Nice to see/hear you again!
Thank you so much Ellie!! :) I appreciate it. Have a happy Monday!
This is the most comprehensive self care overview video I have ever seen (and I have seen a LOT)!! Thank you thank you thank you!
Wow., thank you so much!
welcome back Vera! you look wonderful
Welcome back, Vera. So WONDERFUL to see you again (sounds of rapturous applause). I'm glad you took a month-long break for yourself-you deserve it! (just don't wait so long for the next one ❤).
I really identified with the tip about not trying to get through a whole to-do list even when you're tired. I frequently do that, especially when trying to cook lots of stuff for the whole week. I don't really like cooking, but I want to eat well, so I make the supreme effort, though sometimes I wear myself out. Occasionally I fantasize about ending it all by getting up on the counter and flinging myself on to the floor 😆(though it probably wouldn't work and then there'd be guacamole or something everywhere).
Instead I try to take a balanced approach and do something else at the same time that makes it more fun. And today that was watching your video - thanks so much for your generosity and all you give to us. xx
haha loved reading your comment, thanks for sharing :D I promise I won't wait so long to take my next break :)
Good to see you again!
lovely to see you back Vera. your video is a good reminder to be aware of what's going on with my mind and body. you've inspired me to focus more on physical self care 🙂😘
So happy to hear it!! :) Have a happy Monday!
Soooo good to have you back. Love your videos!
Thank you, it's good to be back!! :)
Welcome back Vera. Really missed seeing your videos but glad you're back.
Thank you, I'm happy to be back :) Have a happy Monday!
Aww it's so nice that you are Back Vera. Always love your videos. I suffer from ME/CFS and so I understand what you are saying in your videos and I try to implement them. Thankyou for doing these videos take care xx
Thank you so much Kerry, glad to hear my videos provide you with helpful insights as well :) Take good care!!
Welcome Back ❤️All the best !
I love this list. There are a lot of ideas here that I had not considered self care before. I would also propose that giving to others can be a form of self care. I volunteer once a week with a food bank and while i often don’t feel like it beforehand I always feel energized afterwards.
That's amazing, good for you!! 😊💕
It's nice to see you back and looking relaxed. So glad you enjoyed your break. You say you're nor 100% yet so make sure to keep taking care of yourself. I think sometimes if you have had a break it's trmpting to think " right - now I have to make up for that time" but that's a mistake - if you do that , it cancels out the break! So continue to be aware of signals and take things easy.
Love this video - ok at being tidy and my partner and I do talk and share a lot. My main problem is that I' m lazy - no other word for it. Have lots of ideas but not much application! That said, I do try and do act on at least some projects. ☺ so that's ok x
You're so right in what you shared about approaching breaks as if they have to make up for everything. Not how it works, I've learned haha :) Have a great day!
I am so glad that you are back. Welcome back!! I like to spend a little time every morning alone and read, just be. This helps me to focus to start my morning. It's my me time. First thing in the morning.
I love that! Sounds wonderful
So nice on this Fall day to hear your lovely voice once again. Greetings from Chicago.
Welcome back Vera!
Good to see you back..take care vera..
Hello Vera, I feel so blessed to have found your Channel. It is really helpful especially when you feel so alone and nobody is there (in the natural) to just sit, listen and understand what you are going through. When these things happen it feels so overwhelming when you know you are trying to be the best version of yourself each and everyday. So, from me (Manila Philippines) to you Vera, Thank you so much for all your videos. ❤
Thank you for this video, much appreciated
Thank you for the reminders! As a fellow HSP I really appreciate finding the right balance is essential to our wellbeing and requires constant review then rebalance.
Very true! :)
Yay! Welcome back, Vera! Taking your advice and am about to do a live-stream yoga class now. Yoga checks a lot of boxes for me in terms of taking care of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Glad you're back and that you enjoyed your time away!
Same 💖
Me too! :)
Thank you for this wonderful video❣When you talked about cathartic self care, I immediately thought of crying and writing/journaling. Maybe also singing and dancing? 😊🌿❤
Great video with lots of helpful self care tips! Thank you ❤
Thanks for these tips !
Such wonderful tips Vera, you are so right that we cannot be doing perfectly or at 100% all the time so we need to shoot for keeping as consistent as we can. BTW I love your pumpkin colored sweater on you! 🧡
Well said!! :) Oh yeah, now that you mention it, it really is a pumpkin color isn't it 😊💕 Perfect for this season
Thanks as always
Ohh so you took a break! :D I was happy this morning when you re-appeared in my feed and I was wondering why your videos were not coming my way any longer. :) I hope your break helped you and you feel better now. I am just there, about making changes in my life to fight stress before stress kills me. I had already a big wake up call recently. One of my first changes is to start my day having breakfast with something nice, inspiring, and good energy for my day, such as your videos, rather than reading emails and my checking my social media. So thank you. I wish you a lovely day taking care of yourself. 🌻
Thanks so much Susan! I tried my best to let everyone know about the 1-month break I was taking (made a whole video about it, community posts, tweets, newsletters, everything), but unfortunately my messages didn't end up reaching everyone.. But I'm happy to be back :) Also, I think you made a really wonderful change in how you start your days, and I hope these changes will be as helpful for you as they've been for me! Take good care and have a nice day today
Welcome back Vera you look really well glad you had a good rest. Love this uplifting inspiring video thanks for sharing Vera you're the best 😘
Thank you so much Deborah, have a happy Monday!
Welcome back Vera. Missed you. Thanks for your tips
Thanks so much, it's great to be back! :)
I have missed you so much.
Times are overwhelming these days and we have to take care that we do not get involved mentally too much. Therefore I‘m so thankful that you made self-care the topic of this video💕.
Sending a hug 🥰
Hi Vera so happy you're back. You look great. Awesome video and thank you. For me physical and mental self care I need most. Hugs ❤
Thank you so much Cathy, hugs back!!! :)
Welcome back Vera! I spent 2 hours at the thermal baths last week and it felt amazing. Just needed to take a break from the crazy everyday-life 🍵
Sounds lovely!! 🥰
Also, welcome back❣Your videos feel warm and calming and inspiring to me. ❤🤗 Thank you. 🌿
So happy to hear that, thanks Marika!! :)
Thank you, a much needed listen for me today! You bring great comfort and calm...you are providing a wonderful resource for mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, whole being health!! KEEP GOING!! :)
Thank you so much for your kind words, that means a lot :) Take care and have a lovely day!
Welcome back! Great video :)
Welcome back. Missed you but so glad you had a chance to take a much needed break. 🎉❤
Thanks so much Aleta, it's great to be back! :)
Qué bueno volver a verte!
Me alegra que hayas disfrutado de tus vacaciones.
Me gustan tanto tus vídeos que siempre busco alguno anterior para ver 🙂
Cuidate mucho!
Abrazo desde Uruguay 🇺🇾😘
Thank you so much Laura, have a nice day today!
One of the best self care videos out there. Thank you very much ❤️
Aw thank you so much!! :)
My self care habits at the start of the month started off strong: I've been taking more walks during the days where I have school (both in the morning and in the early evening), I'm slowly starting to eat healthy again, and I'm taking more time to just rest and be lazy if I feel overwhelmed with my studies. It's helped me a lot (especially for my mental health), but now that I'm getting close to the middle of the month, it seems like the energy I have has started to dip a little.... Not sure why that is when I've been feeling like my best self so far, but perhaps this means I need to add another form of self care.
Very relatable :) Also, perhaps it has to do with your cycle? I've been looking into that a while ago and it was very interesting to learn about these natural shifts in energy during the month
Thanks Vera. Very much needed for me lately
You got it! :)
