Damn, this was really cool! As someone who has no background knowledge of flying, or communicating with ATC, it would be awesome for you to do a series explaining things, like what does all the jargon mean when you talk to ATC and how you're able to take all that information in so quickly😂
LOL I know exactly where you are coming from - I'd love to fly but I have to tell people to slow down spelling their name - this would give me anxieties on another level :D
I am an aeronautical engineer, but unfortunately have no flight experience. I would advise you to keep watching videos and you will eventually start to pick up patterns in what they are talking about. For example before taxiing he does his pre-flight checklist to determine whether everything is functioning correctly, then over the radio states his status that he is ready and requests permission to taxi. ATC gives it to him and tells him what runway to taxi to and where to hold short and line up (a.k.a. where to wait and where to position himself). Then he requests permission to takeoff, receives it and proceeds to takeoff. V1 is the speed at which he has to make a decision whether to proceed with the takeoff or abort, positive rotation means the nose of the aircraft is pointing upwards etc. Reaching cruise altitude has it's own procedures, as well as landing. You will get the hang of it eventually ;)
The speech is always in a specific formula kinda like semi scripted and you would have a scratch pad to write down the info as they gave it to you in a rw situation

I remember working at an FBO and just sitting in the office looking out into the ramp and having my radios on ground and tower frequencies. You learn so much just listening
Few tips. Study the ground charts before you start the flight. Know where you are and where your going and anticipate the instructions your going to get. Listen to the instructions to the aircraft ahead of you and anticipate the instructions your going to receive. Have a pen and paper at hand. Learn to write short hand. Be ready to write when you hear your call sign.
Most of it is anticipating what you are going to be cleared. You know what you are going to be cleared, you just don’t know when. The other thing is using stuff in the aircraft to help you. As soon as you hear climb or descend, being ready on that altitude knob to just dial in the altitude. Same with fly heading.. just crank it in there. Read back what is displayed. Next frequency? If you don’t already have it in the backup or it’s a different one.. just throw it in the FMS scratchpad (no decimals or 25khz.. just numbers. 135.325 is just 13532) and flip to the TUN page and paste it in COM1 with the line select key. Then there’s shorthand. Lots of times I just use single letters or numbers to jog my memory. Altitudes always have two zeroes taken off. 20 for 2000 feet. 260 for 26,000, etc. And if you get a full clearance read back or something else from left field like a weird hold.. they usually say “when ready to copy” as their hint to get a piece of paper and pen ready. I just use post it notes on the yoke. Or one of the scratch pads on my iPad in Foreflight. And if you screw up? We all do. No big deal. The big thing is not to read back a canned response of what you usually get. It’s far better to ask for clarification or to repeat it than to say the completely wrong thing.

*When the world needed him most, he vanished.*
Wow, I almost reached down for the seat belt clasp after this was over. This was awesome 👌well done, Airforceproud - and best regards from your newest sub.
This is so realistic that I was tackled by air port security for having a bayblade in my pocket.
commitment to VATSIM is unreal when youre willing to play as the aircraft line-man
That was pro, man. It was beautiful. The guys of the tower are also pretty professional. Loved it.
“Ah, crap sir! We forgot the yoke! I knew I forgot something...”
"Welcome to Boston"
Master caution:
*I'ma Activate now*
Was about to go to bed, but then afp uploaded, less goo
Lurking for a while now...bit late to the party, been a while since check in. This was the best video so far. So much more was "explained" just by watching this video. Thank you.
Amazing realism thanks for getting immediately into the flight. Plus, funny interaction with the quiet liver passenger on a very cool medical mission.
Thank you for yet another *amazing* video, Appleslice59.
Make sure to file that paperwork over that near miss at bravo 🤣
"Ground, i'm going to have a number for you to call, let me know when you are ready..."
“November Two Kilo-Hotel, Boston Ground, I have a number on standby for calling....”
@@inucune if it was the other way around for sure lol. NEVER call the number
I'm really curious how VATSIM community handles pilot deviations. Would be hilarious if they actually had numbers to call.
@@astronichols1900 you get a supervisor text and if you make it a habit, you get banned
"Pretend that this never happened" -- I'm sure that kind of stuff really happens all the damned time
Yeah but instead of oops, it's "I have a number for you"
Little do you know, but any time a flight takes people away from Bradley, you're saving lives.
I've been back and forth about getting into VATSIM again but this made up my mind.. Great vid, love the realism
