Yep, and IIRC failure to understand this is a large reason why Air France 447 crashed. Iced pitot tube led to computer disconnecting autopilot and switching to alternate control law. The co-pilot didn’t realize he was repeatedly stalling the aircraft due to his belief that the flight computer wouldn’t let this happen- which would’ve been true if the system weren’t operating under alternate law. That investigation was such a fascinating lesson in the complex interplay between human factors and automation… it just really sucks that 228 people died before we learned it.

And he wasn't wrong. Last resort would be to reset the circuit breakers, but some parts of the computation systems can only be reset on ground, or as a really last resort, because they reset themselves, messing up the computations systems making things worse.

@@shinkicker404 A bunch of the settings seem to randomly change with updates. Had MSFS disable my online connectivity settings during on eof the first few updates (4 or 6, I think) which led to a very big headache.
What I don't understand is why Auto Rudder doesn't well AUTO rudder. Like if I don't have a rudder (sometimes I like to just grab a stick at main my PC and fly), the auto rudder won't actually keep you on centerline on its own.
@@JohnVanderbeck even with auto rudder, the rudder axis is so damn sensitive you almost lose control half the time anyway. And nope, turning sensitivity down, and increasing the deadzone does absolutely nothing to fix that.
I really love when you break out of the clouds and just admire the beauty of this game. As a person that has been watching since high speed hot air balloon passings in FSX, I'd have to agree that we've come VERY FAR. Thanks for the fun videos AirBudDad66
I've been flying in the MS Flightsim since 2000... it's incredible how far things went and what data masses our computers just swallow these days. I still got an install of the FS2002 on my harddrive, it really does not like modern hardware, getting like 30 fps with... well, 2002 optics. Meanwhile I run the MSFS, high graphics settings, at double that, with the PC using no more than 150 Watts.
I have 0 interest in flight sim in actuality, but when I had gamepass and MSF actually worked, I would just sit at an airport and have autopilot (attempt to) bring me from one place to another just to enjoy how amazingly beautiful the game was. It was always breathtaking looking at the clouds.
I spend a lot of time flying in VR and this game invokes the same feelings of awe as real life. It’s weird to experience a deeply beautiful vista but not be able to share the story of the experience with others because it’s not real. It’s oddly lonely.
4:05 TIP: Your life would be a bit easier if you setup the aircraft for takeoff. The TO Config checklist is displayed on the ECAM, and when you throttled up you didn't have the Autobrakes set to Max, and the spoilers weren't armed. Also, when you set power for takeoff, you left the levers in CLB, where they should be in FLX/MCT or TOGA (should be TOGA considering the state of the runway). Leaving them in climb wont engage the autothrust and there wont be any FD guidance for takeoff, not to mention severely reduced thrust. In fact, during the takeoff roll you can see a Level 2 alert on the ECAM for setting the thrust levers to TOGA. You can see after rotation the FD fell back to VS mode, but without A/THR on the plane has a good chance of overspeeding unless you either increase your climb rate or reduce thrust. 8:10 Clearly a sim hiccup, which threw off the computers and knocked you back into alternate law.
@@python.programmer5567if you have to abort a takeoff for any reason, you’ll need anything that can help slow you down. The spoilers will help slow down along with auto brake activating and reverse thrust.

1:45 It's spring thaw season here in MN, so roadway surfaces are all kinds of janky right now. Probably a culvert being frost heaved up. It'll get beat back down in a couple weeks when the ground finishes thawing
It’s been like 3 sim updates and I still keep finding those weird ass speed bumps and terrain irregularities. I believe that in Tokyo Haneda you could probably find one of the worst with a whole runway’s island taxiway bridge that connects to the mainland with like a 1 meter difference with the rest of the taxiway.
Love some mishaps in videos once in a while. Makes for good watching experience, but also I would be terrified if that happened irl lol. It makes me all the more appreciative of our pilots.
As someone who's been in and out of MSP dozens of times on Northwest (RIP) and then Delta, sometimes even from Gate F7, the takeoff sequence was weirdly nostalgic. And that terrain glitch definitely doesn't exist outside of MSFS's imagination.

That flight was fraught with peril! MSP - my hometown airport. Lots of invisible cliffs and jankiness generally, although the heavy, wet snow we got might have had something to do with the speed bump (not to mention the lovely cloud tops). Lord knows it clogged my snowblower a few times yesterday when digging out. Perhaps your video will inspire iniBuilds or FlyTampa or somebody to put out a better version of MSP, but it will probably wind up being Captain S- hiyoooo! Entertaining as always, and thanks again for showing the Twin Cities some love.

Hey airforce proud, I just want to tell you, I’m not sure if you have the Fenix A320 but it is WORTH IT. Insane realism with every button, switch, screen, page all working. I think you should fly it on the channel more often
Alternate LAW means you are no longer using 3 computers (or 2 depending on Mode). In simple words there is no longer a computer checking to make sure the other ones are working correct.
If you ever have that happen again, disable AP, disable ELAC 1 then go over to the FO Chair, disable ELAC 2, then renable both, then renable AP. You'll be golden then. Had the same thing happen in the stupid headwind like 6 times on a 9 hour flight... absolutely blew.

Ya pushing out from the odds on the F concourse is really weird and can be tricky.
