- Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro Unboxing & Full Assembly - perfect laser for a beginner?
I have been gifted this laser by www.madethebest.com and I want to make that clear. If you are interested in this laser then here is my affiliated link to it. You can also read there about the full specs of this engraving machine:

Is the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro the best budget laser engraver out there? Well check out the whole video to find out.
Please be aware that they have not payed me for presenting this laser and the content of my video is mine only. In short I think its a very good engraving machine, perfect for a beginner as the ease of putting the machine together is very simple. Operating the software plus connecting everything together is also very simple and does not require vast amount of knowledge on this topic. The quality of this product I see as very high, all the components seem to be well fitted and very good quality.
It is not the cheapest laser you can get but for sure the build quality is there to vouch for the price tag. Check out my video and go to the product website to learn a lot more about this engraving machine.

Thank you. Yes its quite good, now I just need to spend some more time with it so see what it can really do👍

Using Ortur laser master 2 pro to make more wonderful crafts. We love to discover the unknown and try to develop our products to the next level with vitality and creativity.
Thanks for the video, a lowish cost laser has been on my wish list for a while. Seems like a reasonable bit of kit and the 400x400 size is about right too. I'm after a new table saw so this has moved down the list now!
Yes the more time I spend either it playing around the more I like it 😁👍
Hello my dear friend,
Good choice. Thank you for the introduction and detailed information. See you. Big greetings. Your friend Mehmet.
Thank you kindly 😁👍
@@CasualDIY see you.
Congratulations! That was really interesting and also nice to see you're getting stuff from companies now. I would have liked to hear a little more about the limitations of the machine - especially what would be possible on metal with these kind of lasers or possibly engraving on kydex. Anna
Thanks, yes that's all still to come 👍😁
@@CasualDIY Great! Looking forward to that :-) Anna
One of the first jobs for the Evolution Rage 5-S I'm buying is to make an enclosure for my Ortur LM2 Pro!
Yes I need to sort one out as well👍
I just bought the same saw and am assembling it now. I hope You like yours!
Great content of the video. I will say and maybe I'm wrong but it looks like you may have put the rails together wrong. 'From the lower left corner of the machine behind the control panel both the X and Y axis, the numbers should start at zero and increasing upward as you move right and up. The software part was great. I had a problem downloading it onto my computer. i then purchased Lightburn. I would have liked to started out with what you downloaded. Thanks for the great video and keep up the good work. I will check out your channel.
Thank you very much. Hmm you may be right I need to check that. Thank you
So nice! I wish I have one.😀
Yes it seems to be very good 👍
Awesome
thanks
Great video. Just wish you hadn't use double or more speed to recorded it for the assembly. Other than that great job. Keep up the great work.
You can slow down the video on UA-cam 👍
Nice one Tomasz, that comes in handy for names on Xmas Presents, start early mate. Pity i don't have any spare cash???
Stay Safe,
Barry (ENG)
Yes it can be quite handy for some nice Xmas decorations👍
Hey you never know what awaits around the corner.
All the best mate
Thank you. A really interesting video. Can this laser be run as a stand alone? Does it have to be connected to a laptop or can it run from a SD card ?
Needs a laptop to run
Oh ok ... just saw a control box add on on the website and wondered how it worked.
I’ve watched a several videos on various brand machines like this. I love the technology and how it is now getting affordable for individuals. However, I have not seen any uses that make me think I can enhance my products or create new products that will make my money back. Logo engraving can be done with a makers mark tool.
What are some other uses that others have done that I haven’t seen? I’d love a reason to invest in this area. Thanks.
I think batching out engravings. For example I made 20 bookmarks, placed them under the machine and in one go they all been engraved with some signs and logos. If you use 3mm ply you can cut some shapes and then put them together, like Christmas decorations. I engraved a map of Poland as a wall decoration. I also used it to engraved patters that later I was either cutting out or routing out. I think there are many options to use these lasers. Imagination is the only limit here👍
Hmmm, makes me want to buy one. Problem is, I haven’t got the space for it.
Yes fir me that always was an issue. To be honest not sure where this one will end up, and still got my 3d printer to put together and my other laser 🤔🤣
@@CasualDIY Tomasz loves a gadget!
Great video, thank you. I have ordered a LM2Pro and unboxed it. The side rails have no markings like I have seen in videos. Every video I've seen says to line up the ruler markings on the side rails, but mine are just black anodized aluminum.
I sent the laser cutter back for return and just received the new one. It also has no ruler markings on the side.
Now I'm wondering if I'm crazy and somehow overlooking the rulers, or if there shouldn't be any in my model, or what. I'd appreciate any insights. Thanks!
Hi, there should be some markings, at least mine has them. If they are actually needed for anything I don't know as I had no need to use them yet🤣
I would email the seller and just ask about it.
@@CasualDIY Thank you! As it turns out they sent me the older version which is why it doesn't look the same. In other news I can't wait to stabilize some pen blanks. great videos all around.
@@robl2844 I'm glad you got to the bottom of this. And thank you 👍
Good luck with your future projects 👍
Tez się zabieram zeby złożyć go do kupy 😂
Calkiem łatwy proces i super fajny sprzęt dla początkującego 👍
It would be nice to see if it works as well on pallet wood as I make small items from this free wood
It would for sure burn out in pallet wood
I meant engraving, not cutting. Do you think it will burn out engraving pallet wood Tomasz?
@@homewurks1 it will engrave in pallet wood no problem
Mine takes so long to engrave things! I’m going to have to figure out what I’m doing wrong.
You can set the speed in the software, depending on which one you are using
Nice vid! Been looking at this model for some time now and i've got a (probably stupid) question: I'm a boardgame enthusiast and looking to start cutting my own inserts out of foamcore (5mm). Would this model be sufficient to get it done ? I'm pretty sure it would cut through this no problem, but still want to be sure before i commit to it
Hmm not sure if that's suitable, flame hazard plus hazardous fumes coming from the foamcore?
@@CasualDIY the fumes wouldn't be An issue normally, i've got a dedicated filter that i can use for this. But the fire hazard thing does worry me a bit. Can't seem to find a basic cnc or laser cutter in my area without paying for a industrial Quality type.
@@Blade90210 yes I see your problem, not sure if even risking $400 on this laser would be a great idea either. Unless you can use it for other jobs if the foam cutting wouldn't work for you. I would try asking around if someone has got a similar laser and then ask then if you could use that laser even pay small amount for the ability to use it and see if there will be any issues when cutting the foam.
@@CasualDIY I'll probably switch to 3mm plywood then, i've seen the E-raptor inserts that are made of this material and i can draw those kind of designs fairly easy, so it wont be a waste. I've got a million ideas for this thing to be honest 😀 Thank you for your input!
@@Blade90210 yes ply won't be an issue 👍 no problem, thanks for an interesting chat👍
Hi might seem like a daft question but which plug adapter did you use to convert to UK use as it comes with an EU plug. Mine just arrived and after assembly connected it to my shaver adapter and nothing, no power whatsoever.
I thought there was an option to choose UK plug? Just a daft question from my side. Have you unlocked the safety button? As it comes locked as standard. If you unlocked it I would head to PCworld or amazon and look for an appliance adapter. The one for a shaver may be different.
I bought mine from Made The Best and it came with a UK plug. Ortur themselves said they don't supply a UK plug version!
Does this laser and software only do script, or are we able to import photos or drawings or some sort of art work to engrave? How deep will it cut?
It does photos. The laser doesn't actually come with any software. They just suggest what software you can use in the manual you get with the laser. So you can use a photo of anything you want. I think I seen in somewhere it can cut up to 5mm but don't quote me on that. I have not tried the cutting aspect of the machine. Check out the link in the description of this video, the info should be there.
Thank you very much for your reply. Understand.
Loved the horny board , nice to see your new toy ,its something I was looking for, looking forward to the follow up video 😎
Thank you. Yes there will be some experiments going on 🤣
500$ ? This is for begginers? For real?
Video is good. But i dont think this is price for begginers
I think it was 450$ on the website. Am I do mention it's a bit pricey. That doesn't mean it can't be for a beginner. I would say the super budget lasers around 200$ are fir sure not for beginners. They require more skills in putting them together and in most cases they are far harder to set up. So yes we need to establish what is better for beginners. Super cheap laser that they will struggle putting it together and then setting it up send using or something bit more expensive but easy to use and work with🤔
@@CasualDIY good point
