Love the honesty Sam. I am sure someone at Ortur is watching this video and can't decide if they should be happy or upset. You gave an honest review and if I were in the market for this tool I would seriously considered buying this product. I would go ahead and change out the USB cable if there is any chance there might be a loose connection. Hopefully the price will be less than the price of another ruined piece of material.
I hope someone from the company sees this and listens. :) It would only help them develop a better product. That is also why I always tell companies I do honest reviews. I respect you guys (my viewers) much more than some company selling an item. :)

Phenomenal review. I watched this about 10 minutes AFTER I hit “complete order.” I’ve been doing so much research on these entry level lasers. I smiled through this video and felt better about my decision. Thank you for so much information, articulated so well and efficient.
@jenniferwendorf9003 Hey there! It's been a year after you purchased that machine, and I am now in a position where I am considering this machine as well. How do you feel things are going with your machine? Thanks!
I have the Ortur Laser Master 2 20W laser engraver. I was having a terrible time with disconnects on my machine and what I finally determined was causing the problem was that it would build up static on the machine while it was running. You can do a google search and find a grounding procedure that you can perform the will eliminate the disconnect issue. They sell a kit but I didn't buy it, you can get everything you need at your local hardware store. When I was having problems with the disconnects, I thought it was a communication issue as well but it was static. The problem would also not be consistent, so it was difficult to troubleshoot. When I first started to have problems with the disconnects it would happen occasionally and I learned to work through it, but it eventually got to the point that it would disconnect 20 or more times during one project. Since I performed the grounding procedure I have had zero disconnects on my machine. Hope this helps!!
I've had random disconnects on my ortur laser master 2 and 3018cnc pro the issue is usually caused by 2 things: -electromagnetic noise around the USB cable and machine motherboard -voltage drop caused by the start of powerful machines around like a welder, table saw, strong hoover, or anything similar. To solve this problem you need to get a high quality shielded USB cable, get rid of electric motors, transformers, big cables from the area surrounding the machine- about 50in. Schould be enough. Sometimes motherboards are not capable of running every element of the machine at the full power and doing that might pull so much power that your power supply will reset, or your usb connection will. Running a 3018 in 3axes and running a spindle (powered up from the motherboard) almost always disconnected my machine from the computer. If your fridge compressor starts and you notice it breaks down the connection between the machine and the computer get an ups device and your good to go👍
Was given this laser as a Christmas present in 2022. Doing pretty well figuring things out but am stumped on sending the laser to the x spot without it going way beyond and missing the spot all together. I am a little disappointed in it's inability to cut 1/4" wood but will be purchasing 1/8" this weekend and hope it's a go!!! I would greatly appreciate any thoughts of getting the laser on the x spot and not be roaming!! Thanks for your great videos!!! Trish
Hey Sam, another thing you should check is to make sure it has the most updated firmware. After updating mine I've had no issues with it disconnecting from the computer/tablet
Idk if they fixed it in the pro version, but the regular 2 had a problem with shorting out in more dry climates due to not being grounded properly. It first showed up with frequent disconnects until a mosfet popped on the mobo and that was all. That being said, my Ortur has been well worth the price despite the issues since these machines are incredibly cheap for what they are.
@@DavidALovingMPF102 They have grounding kit for older models that they send with basically no questions asked. Definitely among the best Chinese companies.
Dang! 300 jobs on it. I had to ground everything. Laser head circuit board, Y and square frame to the main pcb ground. I have the laser master 2. It was stopping and shutting off 3 out of 4 projects. I guess it was static electricity. It's pretty dry out here in New Mexico. Good video. I'm at 2:54 minutes so far.
Using Ortur laser master 2 pro to make more wonderful crafts. We love to discover the unknown and try to develop our products to the next level with vitality and creativity.
I would love a 2024 video like this. Maybe one where you highlight the top 3-5 lasers in the 500-1000 range. I want to do some of this both on wood, as well as the coaster/tumbler engraving. Cutting isn't immediate, but I'd prefer a buy once, cry once option where I could get into that. Would you suggest Ortur? XTool? I am not interested in a Glowforge.
Click Hardware and Sound, then click Power Options. Click Change plan settings for the plan you want to change. Click Change advanced power settings. Click the plus sign (+) next to “USB settings” and “USB selective suspend setting” to expand the options and change the setting to Disabled.
The USB selective suspend feature allows the hub driver to suspend an individual port without affecting the operation of the other ports on the hub. Selective suspension of USB devices is especially useful in portable computers since it helps conserve battery power. Many devices, such as fingerprint readers and other kinds of biometric scanners, only require power intermittently. Suspending such devices, when the device is not in use, reduces overall power consumption. More importantly, any device that is not selectively suspended may prevent the USB host controller from disabling its transfer schedule, which resides in system memory. Direct memory access (DMA) transfers by the host controller to the scheduler can prevent the system's processors from entering deeper sleep states, such as C3. NOTE: If you have a USB mouse or other USB (and sometimes Bluetooth), this silly "selective suspend" might impact the USB bus. ESPECIALLY on Laptops.
Thnx for the review! I am considering in getting one to engrave on a 24cm x 28cm marine plywood mostly boards for abstract strategy games.....such as checkered boards or hexagon boards consisting of many hexagons and I was thinking whether this can be a good buy.... I am really tight on budget....and I am trying to get the most out of it....
I have to original ORTUR LM2 20 watt and now the LU2-4 long focus on order. Really happy with the original and it's still going after more than a year of heavy use. I will add that I have never purchased an item with pro in the name that actually was what I'd consider professional quality. It's just a buzz word.
Hi Sam, I just got my Laser. Boy am I confused on putting it together. I get 1 part put in then 2 & 3 walla, yay me. WHAT UGH. What did I do? Undo everything thing, redo it. Watch a video stop 🛑 watch again & again got it. WHAT UGH. So many videos & 3 hours later all I got was an even square. Looked at a video again. Nope, I don’t normally have any problems with these things. In fact I’m pretty darn at putting things together. I have looked, but didn’t anything of a video on putting it together. Do ya by chance 😃
Well done review. Subbed. Mine is supposed to be here today. I got the "LF" or Long focal length because it is supposed to be better at cutting. Which model did you test, the LF or the SF?
Very nice job on the review Sam, I really appreciate your honesty......going to watch some more of your videos right now to see the cool stuff you made.
Hello...So I have an LU1-3 and pretty sure it is a 15W. If there is no height adjustment, then what is the optimum distance for a perfect beam on the material? The fixed distance to the board I have it mounted to or have to play with the speed and power?
If you hadn't already changed out your USB cable try tying an overhand knot in the end by the tablet, not a tight one but somewhat loose about the size of a nickel.. That may help reduce the interference of signaling to the machine.
I changed my usb and designed a wooden block to glue the usb onto the machine. It's made the amount of disconnect drop from 5 a week to about one. Air assist ruled. Reduces lens cleaning by at least a third.
Found your channel just watching some videos, do you have the ORTUR Laser Engraver, Laser Master 2 PRO S2 LF or the SF, looking at getting one but being in the UK they only seem to have the LF version here but I'm told that more for cutting than engraving and I'm looking to engrave you like do. Thanks
Top notch video Sam, I've narrowed my search to this machine and your review is very helpful, just got yourself a new sub, look forward to following yiu more. 👍👍
Thanks Garry. I still use this laser to this day and it’s been great for all my engraving needs. If I were in the market to buy another one today I would take a good look at the xTool D1 Pro or Ortiz Laser Master 3. Not to discredit this model, just saying the new ones that catch my eye as I see other’s videos on them. :)
Air assist? Can you show it on action? I have a machine that is still in pieces. But I may need air assist. If I see it on use, I can make one work. Thanks
Thank you for a great video. I'm just starting to investigate the laser engravers for a side hustle. Can you please tell me what you mean by "air assist"?
I love the "after good amount of use" review. Much better than just out of the box. The cable management issue makes me a bit less enthused but it didn't seem to dissuade you from using it - and giving it a permanent home, so I'll likely pull the trigger about a month after I get a CNC in... after the shop construction is done (hopefully in a month or less!) Keep the videos coming!!!
I don't like doing (or watching) the unboxing videos either. It's something I'm going to get away from... no tool reviews until I've used them at least a month! :) Cable management is annoying with this one, but can be fixed if I would just buy a drag link or something. :) Shop build?!?! Saweeeeet!!! There is a shop build in my future (not been mentioned on this channel at all yet)... I both dread and look forward to that one. :)
@@Samcraftcom It is, for the most part, an exciting and very rewarding experience. I'm about two months behind schedule largely due to a labour shortage... it is a dog eat dog world out there right now and getting skilled help to do something as simple as framing was a massive challenge! Here's hoping things end smoothly and that when you get around to it, supply costs are at a decent prices too!!!! I can't wait to see what you have in mind (32x16 here).
Great video Sam. BTW my Ortur M2 Pro had two fixes the x-axis cable now runs through x carriage with a connection from the drag chain. Also, the 20W (5-5.5 output) comes with an air assist nozzle and plumbing but you need your own air supply.
Hi Sam I guess as it’s been a year since you got your laser cutter that you’ll be sending in for a service . I’m really interested to see any laser cutters and the ease of processing a servicing after a year
@@Samcraftcom The model I just got says: "True 10W Laser Head Output Power: Ortur 2 Pro-S2-LU2-10A laser engraving machine equipped with 2022 Newly Upgraded 10W laser module, which adopts dual-compression diode technology to achieve true 10W laser power. Its cutting penetration and accuracy are twice of ordinary lasers which is able to cut 20mm wooden boards and 30mm acrylic sheets, it is almost beyond the effect of 60W CO2 laser. And the fastest speed up to 15000mm/min. In addition, the laser module has a built-in air-assist interface, which is designed for cutting." Was yours this one? I hope it will cut 1/4 inch wood OK. I haven't got it cutting at all yet. Waiting on replacement mother board. Thanks for the video.🙂
I bought the smaller ortur unit when it first came out, within a few weeks was wishing for a larger model. 24"x24" would be good. I got it just to burn my logo on cutting boards and bowls. Which leads to wanting a z axis that has 6" to 10" of travel. Keep up the great work! Can't wait to see all the stuff you're doing with yours.
I enjoyed this Ortur product video. I suppose the big Q for everyone, is did this $500 product “pay for itself,” in the first 30 day’s use in your business?
Sam, Xtool has been advertising heavy lately and I was wondering if you have compared any of their "Pro" features to your laser? I don't mind (as much) spending 3 times the money if I know something is a better product (and better for me is customer and community support as much as the physical machine). The advertising makes the Xtool D1 sound amazing but that is what advertisers supposed to do. I have experience in woodworking and carpentry but know just enough about CNC and lasers to be able to spend a whole lot of money and not really be happy with my purchases. Any advice would be most appreciated.
Ensure you run it on a filtered and regulated power source. The commercial equipment suppliers I dealt with require filtering and power regulation. Also ensure wires are channeled within a grounded RFI protected sleeve not exposed to potential stray RF sources like an very close WIFI system, 2 way radios or other not too distant sources that have arcing like bad relays, welding etc. Exposed wires can potentially be receive antennas for noise sources.
Can this laser do items that have a changing depth of the main surface (like the curve of a flask) or cylindrical items such as drinking glasses or stainless cups?!?
Hey Sam.. Just found ur channel tonight bro.. How good is this Shapokoe CNC man?? I'm in the process of building my own CNC. I bought all the Extruded Aluminium, I have the CNC kit with the shield, 4 Nema 23.s with the stepper drivers (TB6600) for each motor. I have the power source but somebody keeps telling me I need a VFD or variable frequency drive as well? Why would that be so important?? Do u know why I would need something like that my bro?? I'm going to spend the XMas hols trying to build this CNC router in my shop. I'm only beginning on the road with my CNC journey and I've only really known about CNC's over the past 5/6 months. I never heard of it before that. Am I taking on too much by trying to build it myself having no experience with electronics? I never had any experience with electronics before beginning a new job in this field 4 months ago. I am honestly saying I know little or nothing about the electronics side of CNC's but I'm beginning to learn fast now.. Would u suggest buying a fully made Shapokoe so I don't have to go thru the pain of my homemade build atm?? If u think so then how much does one of the good CNC routers like ur one cost? I was told it will cost me about 2500 euros to buy brand new?? That's a big outlay considering the size of it.. I got quoted 3000 euros by BLUE ELEPHANT FOR ONE OF THEIR DESKTOP CNC ROUTERS but the work area on the one they showed me was 1200x1200mm which is a very big space indeed.. Now that didn't include shipping which I might be able to get free but something tells me I won't.. LMAO.. That could mean another 3/400 euros on top which I wouldn't mnd but I want one ASAP so maybe one for abut 2k would be fine. Somebody told me they are not going to be using the belts drive anymore on their newest model? They're going all in on the lead screw design now?? That will be the upgrade of all upgrades if u ask me bcos the belts take a lotta work keeping the tension up to scratch all the time and I don't want to be worrying about that stuff at all.. My home build would be about 1000x1000mm working area which is massive compared to most of the entry level ones on the market so I may buy a small CNC just to get to grips with the software and the electronics and build ideas before going all out on my home built CN Sam.. Thanks for this brilliant video man.. Salute from Dublin, IRELAND! Also APOLOGIES FOR THE LONGWINDED COMMENT .. LOL
Thanks Sam, just caught your video. I’ve not purchased anything yet, budgeting, you know how it goes. The pro explanation you give is a valuable insight. There really is enough “pro” in this model to justify the noticeable rise in expense from the first model. E,g. I have and use the reMarkable 2 tablet, very thin, very light, monochrome(look it up) and it costs more than the first version, but has many improvements over that first one. That this pro model ORTUR has only superficial upgrades makes me want to research and wait longer. I know for some folks 500 isn’t a big deal, it is for me. Looking forward to seeing your next set of “biz” talks on this device and profitability.
disconnects can also be caused by poor grounds. You need to make sure the laptop/computer are using the same grounds. Meaning plug both into the same outlet and you can also ground the system as well.
Can't wait to see what you produce. I haven't set mine up yet. IT's sitting here on the table in the shop looking at me. :) Glad to see it is producing for you.
The big question is, what did you do to recover your project instead of scrapping it when you had a disconnect? I just returned a Comgrow 5 watt laser engraver because of the disconnects, or just plain lockups. It always happened on long projects after 2 hours. I never could get a long project to finish, but I did a lot of small ones OK. Like you I couldn't get a "resume" in light burn to work and it required me to reset everything to get it out of the lockup. If you would please share with us exactly what you did to recover from a lockup it would be greatly appreciated. I also suspected Lightburn, but since i'm on an apple computer I couldn't run LASERGBL.
I have seen only couple videos of yours till know but great content. I have one question. Can you engrave on polished surfaces ? For example if I would like to get photo to engrave on a metal plate would that be an problem for this machine ?
Very cool review on this product. I’ve never used one but I’m interested it it and I have a question can you scan a picture say of a truck or car and etch it on something or is it more involved than that ?
Thanks for the honest review. Are you familiar with the Sculpfun S9? I am trying to decide between the Ortur and the S9 and would appreciate your opinion.
Hmmm never heard of it, but that's not saying much... the diode laser market is exploding with new models daily! A brief look at the S9 and it appears to be a replica or knock-off of the Atomstack brands. If choosing between the two, I would go with Atomstack as it is more well-known and will likely have a larger user base.
@@Samcraftcom Thanks, videos show it cutting 15mm wood and that was the attraction for me. But like you said, not much out there must be a very small user base.
My understanding is that the flame detector is UV sensitive and can be triggered by sunlight. Could being by the window be triggering your flame alarm? You can disable that feature in the firmware.
I know these two machines are different in their make up and purpose, how could you compare this Ortur Pro vs the Genmitsu Jinsoku LE-1620? If a purpose was to engrave coasters or wood, does it matter or is the Genmitsu better for that? Is paying $500 for the Pro overkill then? Unless you are doing more and more complex jobs, then maybe the Pro is the route to go. Your thoughts Sam?
Been using my laser for a couple months now, but suddenly it seems to be floating the start point between jobs. I've tried homing between jobs, cleaning off the tracks, and tried searching for an answer but I'm coming up empty. Anyone have any answers for this problem?
As of right now, the Genmitsu Jinsoku LE-1620 with the optional air assist add-on kit from SainSmart. Here's the review video when I got the laser. I don't think the air assist was an option back then, but well worth it now! ua-cam.com/video/JwlHCYmTdww/v-deo.html
Totem S 40W / NEJE Master 2S Max / Atomstack A5 Pro / Ortur Laser Master 2 pro I found the four. want to know which one is best and which one is best for small knives, normal kitchen knives, silver key rings, Zippo, silver engraved bracelet for children. or is your device better. Thank you in advance for the help and information I get. beautiful day
Great review, I've been in the market for an engraver and was leaning towards the Ortur, but I'm still not 100% on it yet. I've also thought about just splurging and grabbing a beefy CO2 laser so I can do cuts as well, but that's an even harder sell. On another note, it'd be interesting to hear about how things are going with your online business, excluding (or including if you prefer) the UA-cam side of things.
Yes, this laser will absolutely do that! One thing you will want to consider is the size of your cutting boards (LxW) and the cutting size of this laser. Want to make sure it will fit within the rails of the machine.
The only problem I have had with mine is with the fire detection, I couldn't get a good placement in the room I have for it that a random beam of sunlight wouldn't trigger it randomly at times. I opted to just tape up the sensor and only run it while I am more or less watching it. I haven't had any issues with machine disconnects so far.
Get a USB cable with the filter on it. Next be sure that all the power setting are set to performance and that the USB port does not sleep. Check and see if you need the static fix for your machine. Like you videos!
A very concise and honest video. I have been waiting for your review on this product. I have a Shapeoko XXL and went through the disconnect issues for about a month upgrading the USB connection, grounding it and everything else you could think of. Most of the disconnect issues were in the winter when the air in the shop is much drier. Of course that was running a CNC with all of the EMI that is possible, not sure about a laser engraver. As for spending the $500 for the machine you bought a dump truck for $2,000 without telling your wife so I am sure she would have been fine with $500 :) again great review, I may have to buy one now.
Hahahaha indeed I did... but I also learned my lesson... Hahaha Sit tight on your money for a little longer. There's a cheaper laser I'm waiting to get to test for another company. It has more bells and whistles on paper than this one, but we'll see how it really performs.
@@Samcraftcom That is what marriage is all about, learning lessons :) been married almost 37 years now. Sounds great and thank you! Love both of your channels. Always excited to get a notification saying you have posted a video.
Nice Video Sam. You hit the nail on the head. If they mark it as a Pro It should come with all the bells and whistle as you mentioned. I got the Laser Master 2 and only after about to weeks found the cable hanging up all over the place. Yes I did add my own cable chain and air assist this should be a must on any laser for about 15 bucks they could have added that as well. I finally said have to make an enclosure that the table can raise and lower which works pretty cool. but those little add on would make a better package Keep up the good work Cheers Fred
Liked the down to earth report on the laser .Am wood turner been looking at this printer as you say Sam £500 is a good bit of money so this my bottom line am a woodturner wanting to try something new would you think good investment the way things are now.
Great channel. I am a new to this world, will this make "cutout" in paper?? Those done with paper and scissors in the "good" old days?? Greetings from Denmark.
I couldn't with my collector design, but perhaps you could? Although I may be concerned over the smoke possibly igniting in the DC unit itself. Maybe overly Safety Sally of me, but I don't like fires in places I don't want them. :)
My 2 cents..from a laser master 2, 20 w, You need a computer to run it. I bought a kids laptop from Best Buy, a KANO. I think that's the name. About $200. You need laser burner software, like Lightburn. ($40 ). There is GRBL? free. Big learning curve for me at age 65, but ok. You have to import B&W photos or schematics, drawings, some will need to be worked on for cropping, contrast. Some fixes to graphics can be done in Lightburn. I have tried color photos. More settings to learn so the color photo burns correctly to B&W. It can work. Lots of different shading settings. I have learned a lot from youtube, Lightburn people. Some folks are getting 2 colors on tile by spraying 2 colors of paint and just burning through the top layer. Sealing the paint on the tile after cause that method is not permanent. Image will wash off with solvents. Norton method actually melts the paint into the tile surface. Use white gloss paint for black image on tile. Burning paint with a laser creates some bad fumes. I burnt some wood with the laser too. Wrong power setting for cedar. Not what I intended. Make a good exhaust system and wear the laser goggles. I have green, then went to the dark orange color for the frequency of light from a blue laser. I just burned a "Merry Christmas" on a white tile using off white paint, 1200 speed at 45% power. Came out good! Ok, I talk too much.

Great to watch a review of a product that is not 'geeky' and gets down to the facts right away. I was originally going to buy the original Ortur Master 2 but was holding out as I knew that the Pro was under development and was scheduled for release in March but was held back pending upgrades. As you said, the machine comes with all needed to get going and has upgrade parts for the likes of focusing, the air assist is something that makes work flow better and also minimises clouding of the lens and as you say needs to be addressed, the X axis issue can be resolved by using a wire hanger for the cable until Ortur come up with a cable handling system as on the Y axis.. Extraction is a necessity as you pointed out with the risk of chemical fumes from the materials being processed. My main interest is tile etching and the Ortur has been proved to be more than capable for this process as well as slate etching. You have convinced me that it is a worthwhile investment, many thanks!

Could have shown some of the things that you had made would have been nice.
I've had random disconnects on my ortur laser master 2 and 3018cnc pro the issue is usually caused by 2 things:
-electromagnetic noise around the USB cable and machine motherboard
-voltage drop caused by the start of powerful machines around like a welder, table saw, strong hoover, or anything similar.

About disconnections, are you sure to have disactivated the energy saving of your USB , to avoid it to go sleeping ?
PRO TIP: If you are using Windows (not sure if the Jackintush has this), Disable "USB Selective Suspend" in your control panel!!!!
Do you have a video on how you did grid template to engrave more than 1 coaster?
Thanks for the great review, I am looking forward to unboxing it this week.
Hope you enjoy it!
Which model did you test, the LF or the SF?
also interested in knowing this
Makes sense. The in focus area would be larger so the power is more condensed over a larger area.
Great review! I just got mine in the mail yesterday and put it together, reading up on lightburn and looking forward to giving it a try!
Very nice job on the review Sam, I really appreciate your honesty......going to watch some more of your videos right now to see the cool stuff you made.
Where did you get the air assist from?
Good video. I'm torn between this one and the Xtool. This did help though. Thanks brother.
Thanks
Can you show some of the projects you Have Made with it
Top notch video Sam, I've narrowed my search to this machine and your review is very helpful, just got yourself a new sub, look forward to following yiu more.
for disconnects, make sure your baud rate is correct on the USB port, you can try bumping it up and see if it stops
Do you know if it will cut thin (3 & 6 mm) EPP foam?
just found your channel, i'm considering one of these engravers for my small woodworking business. thanks for all the great info
Great review! I love your in depth explanations. I have Master 2 Pro and I am hoping I see the comparison with the Sculpfun S10
Thanks! My next video (coming out today, 11/9/22) is going to be my One Year Review of the laser.
@@Samcraftcom That;s awesome. WE are looking forward to it.
Air assist? Can you show it on action? I have a machine that is still in pieces. But I may need air assist. If I see it on use, I can make one work. Thanks
Sam, just found your channel! Really peaked my interest with these lasers engravers. Keep up the good work brother!
Thank you for a great video. I'm just starting to investigate the laser engravers for a side hustle. Can you please tell me what you mean by "air assist"?
Video starts at 2:00
Hay Sam, THANKS a lot.
The things on the usb cabled are called Torids they are made of ferrite
They are there to help eliminate spurious electrical noise.😀🛫

I’m really interested to see any laser cutters and the ease of processing a servicing after a year
Thanks for the info! It has also been fun to watch you grow as a creator and video editor. The opening montage is 💪.
I appreciate it!
What laser module did you use? There are several options. Seems like that would affect thickness capacity.
The LU-2 one -- default one for the laser when I got it.
Will it cut through wood vernier?
I bought the smaller ortur unit when it first came out, within a few weeks was wishing for a larger model. 24"x24" would be good. I got it just to burn my logo on cutting boards and bowls. Which leads to wanting a z axis that has 6" to 10" of travel. Keep up the great work! Can't wait to see all the stuff you're doing with yours.
Can’t you make higher z easily by making stand off feet. As I see it, you are providing your own floor, right? Looks light enough to be a reality
Or you can make sub floors of different heights that has profiles cut out for the different products you want to laser.
Have you grounded the laser yet? That may help with disconnects. Also, an upgraded usb cable is a good idea.
Do you seal your slate coasters?
As a general rule, no. Unless requested by the customer. :)
can you show a video on hooking this up to a xtool RA2 rotary?
Sorry, I don't own that.
I have seen only couple videos of yours till know but great content. I have one question. Can you engrave on polished surfaces ? For example if I would like to get photo to engrave on a metal plate would that be an problem for this machine ?
Very cool review on this product. I’ve never used one but I’m interested it it and I have a question can you scan a picture say of a truck or car and etch it on something or is it more involved than that ?
is there a video that shows all the items you engraved and cut?
Thank you for an excellent review.
Glad it was helpful!
Sam, do you have a build for your dust collection? I’m looking for something

Great review! Very informative! Thank you for putting it together and sharing it!
Glad to help!
Anyone have any answers for this problem?
so if you said that maybe you'd go into this as a stepping stone, what would you buy as your first if not this laser?
As of right now, the Genmitsu Jinsoku LE-1620 with the optional air assist add-on kit from SainSmart. Here's the review video when I got the laser. I don't think the air assist was an option back then, but well worth it now! ua-cam.com/video/JwlHCYmTdww/v-deo.html
Totem S 40W / NEJE Master 2S Max / Atomstack A5 Pro / Ortur Laser Master 2 pro
I found the four. want to know which one is best and which one is best for small knives, normal kitchen knives, silver key rings, Zippo, silver engraved bracelet for children. or is your device better.
Glad to hear you're interested in the business side! :) I've been thinking of doing several series of videos on various topics.
So if I make cutting boards and want to do some laser personalization, is this a great machine for that? Money is not an issue
Yes, this laser will absolutely do that! One thing you will want to consider is the size of your cutting boards (LxW) and the cutting size of this laser. Want to make sure it will fit within the rails of the machine.
Can you engrave on 3/4” thick poplar or pine wood? Just engrave not cutting through.
I had the same problems so I disabled it via gcode in the console.
@@Samcraftcom I know the code to do it when it boots, is there one to do it permanently? I got sick of putting it in every time i used it.
Good honest review. You did good Sam. Now where are the good stuff that you did with it.
Plz tell anyone about it Can we use it professionally or is it for hobby?
Nice Video Sam. You hit the nail on the head. If they mark it as a Pro It should come with all the bells and whistle as you mentioned. I got the Laser Master 2 and only after about to weeks found the cable hanging up all over the place. Yes I did add my own cable chain and air assist this should be a must on any laser for about 15 bucks they could have added that as well. I finally said have to make an enclosure that the table can raise and lower which works pretty cool. but those little add on would make a better package
Keep up the good work
Cheers Fred
Great Video Sam Thank you.
Greetings from Denmark.
can you hook it up to your dust collection for the smoke and fumes . my dust collector vents outside not into a bag
I couldn't with my collector design, but perhaps you could? Although I may be concerned over the smoke possibly igniting in the DC unit itself. Maybe overly Safety Sally of me, but I don't like fires in places I don't want them. :)
Great review, Sam! Very thoughtfully presented. Good job!
Thank you kindly!
Does it come with computer software? How do you do customized drawings or picture transferred to laser.
Thank you Sam

Happy to help! I have been pleased with it thus far.
Thanks. Doubt that a laser engraver is in my future but it is interesting to see what they can do.
Thanks for the review Sam. Been looking at lasers myself. If you ever need small 3d printed parts, hit me up and I will print a few and send them to you. Enjoy all the DIY videos. Thanks for your hard work.
Thanks allot Sam I have been using the Laser master 2 for over 2 years now and must say the Ortur is worth the money but not sure I would move up to the Pro version. great video looking forward to more great content.
