Yup, at this point you’re better off buying last year’s 1060 laptops as they’re cheaper since you’re locked at 60 FPS anyways
144Hz is a option in predator, no idea about the Nitro though
big oof. To be fair with the Nitro 5, in most regions it maxes out with the 1650.
In my country the nitro 5 has a 144hz option for a 1650.

Just got the acre predator Helios 300 yesterday and it feels awesome. It’s really well built compared to the nitro 5. I used it at Best Buy and the build just felt cheaper compared to the predator. Both are great laptops but, I would rather spend a little more money for the build. Great review Jared!

I would say you would need an eternal monitor setup with either. I've heard people complaining about the color accuracy on the nitro for pro standards.
I saw detailed reviews about there colour accuracy and the helios is much better.

I was waiting for this review since a month ago. Well it’s the nitro 7 actually vs the helios. I eventually went with the helios 300 because i thought it has better cooling
Fair enough, I think the 7 is basically the same as the 5 just with a metal lid so probably no major differences in terms of performance.
Im lucky to get Acer Helios 300 2060 144Hz RGB for only 1400$ in my country.. I think Nitro 7 vs Helios 300 might even more interesting.....Great vid as always ❤️❤️

But with same specs in 5 and 7 it's the metal cover that's different.

@@josealfredfernandes i only play games on it. But yea it does heat up. The heat is not too much though. And the booting up and shut down time is fast af too. It hardly takes 10 seconds to boot up and shut down. It easily gives me 60 fps in 1080p ultra in most AAA games and atleast 45 fps even in graphic intensive games like ghost recon wildlands.

Acer Helios 300 can also be upgraded to Gtx 260 meaning
And Acer nitro 5 only upgrades to gtx1660ti so in all the Helios has the best settings
Depends how much money you're willing to spend, the Helios 300 goes up to 2070 Max-Q graphics.

Thanks! The options would be uninstalling any software that could be causing the issues, maybe disabling network might help, you can only do so much before it starts not being practical.

From what I've gathered in all the reviews I've seen
If you want a Nitro, go entry level (GTX 1050/1650)
If you want a Triton 300, go up a notch (GTX 1660/1660ti)
If you want a Helios, go all out (RTX 2060/2080)

Would not be surprised if it happens, or just the 1660 (non Ti) like the desktop side has, the gap between 1650 and 1660 Ti on the laptop side is too big.

I love the acer nitro 5 and was ABOUT to buy it, the edgy red gamer look just had to ruin it though.
Too good for me as red is my favourite color😊. Btw acer predator helios 300 with the sane specs as acer nitro 5 is around 400$ costlier. So I'll prpbably have to go with acer nitro 5 to save that extra bucks and get myself the accessories and games😆

What sort of benchmark? Cinebench sort of does that for the CPU? I've honestly never heard of those CPUs so not sure.

Great comparison. I would say if you have comparisons where you know the driver or game update differences affect performance, just remove those results. Better to show nothing than misleading results. Can you do a similar comparison of the Helios 300 with the Aftershock-equivalent to the MAG 15 that you're working on?
I do that if the Nvidia driver update specifically mentions a game will see increased performance. I am not sure what comparisons are possible with MAG-15, it depends what specs they send it with. Generally I only compare same CPU/GPU, wouldn't make much sense to do the 2070 Max-Q MAG-15 with Helios 300 for instance.
Im looking at a used Predator Helios 300 from 2020 vs a used Nitro 5 from 2021 at the same price, any thoughts on what's best? Im unsure how much the year matters

Hi there I have just purchased brand new acer helios 300 i7 with 16gb ram dual channel rtx3070 8gb with 512gb ssd 1tb hdd and i get less fps on ultra settings in games you have tested what am I doing wrong all drivers up to date also being to think there is issue with my laptop . Hey Jarrod, if you still have that last year's ryzen nitro 5, I'd like you do do an experiment. I've heard AMD lets GPU-APU crossfire, can you check if that's on by default and if it's not, then how much of a difference it makes in performance. Cuz the nitro 5 GPU hasn't changed this generation so it's a little bit of a bottleneck to the system and I wonder if GPU-APU crossfire with the Vega 8 will help
Unfortunately that laptop was sent back to Acer months ago. Never heard of that, if I get a new one I'll look into it more.
Tight race at high gfx settings but is the helios still going to get closer to 144hz limits at low settings because of the power limit on the cpu or is it still the same?
The higher CPU power limit will certainly help it at lower settings.
