My younger brother tried to get me to fly with him, I always jokingly said “no way, I’ve seen you ride a bike.” He had his captains wings and flew a Lear jet for his job. He’s gone now, I should have flown with him. What I’d give for another chance!!
Go out and take a flight or not he will be with you.
Flying. Skydiving or raising kids is truly not for everyone.
He loved you and understands your fear of flying.
Take care for life is life and we all have things that upset us at times

As a glider instructor I sent a young lass on her first solo. She had an inferiority complex and low self esteem even though she was a natural. Asked how she enjoyed her first solo. "It was terrifying " She said.
"No No the word is exhilarating" I said. " I was exhilarated to death" she said.
She went on to be a good competition pilot and her confidence and self esteem grew and grew with each mile stone.
I suffer from anxiety and I can tell you that brave woman was not acting during that takeoff, her face said it all. Well done young lady :)
The fact that she's afraid of flying and actually flying is pretty impressive.

you're a very brave lady ... that look on your face taking off showed how terrified you were .... it takes a lot of guts to overcome that kind of fear and jump in despite it... well done

Yeah, that was a pretty shallow climb. I was right seat in a Beech Baron 58, taking off out of Columbus OH, and they asked us to expedite our climb out. I can't remember, but I am thinking we were somewhere near 2000 fpm.
Christy...you did great....No matter how much people try to logically tell you how safe flying is etc. etc. when you're a white knuckle flyer it doesn't matter it's a phobia that is tough to overcome. I was for years even with my father-in-law being a pilot it's a personnel thing. When you talked about the bumps & Kevin doesn't even notice I've been there. All I can say is keep flying and hopefully one day it goes away which it did for me.
That was the gentlest rotation and turnout that I've ever seen you do Kevin! It was obvious that you were trying to make it as easy as possible for her! Great job!

Good for her for overcoming her anxiety and doing it. As someone who has anxiety I can recognize it. It’s pretty awful.
God, she is so cute. I like the way she helped you on that landing with her hands showing you the distance between runway run outs. And then she says she loves you right at the end and that is just so sweet. I think she's proud of you too! Great video.

Your sis is freaking adorable....my 310R has a small hatch in the floor between and slightly aft of the seats with a relief tube ..never used it but it's hilarious to reach back..open the hatch and hand it to people when they want to pee...ya'll stay safe and take care

My boss flies in flipflops, he has over 15 000 flight hours and is 82 year old. He's badass, has more than 10 planes and flies up whenever he's going greater distance.
Good job keeping her busy and talking to her. "Look at this...Look at that". Good way to help non flyers get through it!

Glad you enjoyed it Patrick! Going to try to start editing today and hopefully will have the return flight ready by Friday. I was so busy flying I didn't have time to see her freakout on departure. I was laughing my butt off the first time I saw it editing. :)

Howdy Kevin! Jaime and I had a Europe trip planned soon and the EU has it shut down to people from the US so we looked into Australia...unfortunately it didn't look friendly right now. Can't wait for this virus to be resolved so the world can get back to normal. We'll make it down under one day!

I’ve never seen someone need oxygen on takeoff, but watching your sister roll down the runway and lift off, it appeared she might have needed some. I think it’s awesome she’s flying with you, the more she does the more comfortable she’ll become.

310 Pilot For me the key was getting the controls. When that happened it served as a distraction and I felt empowered. First time I flew the plane and held it level during pretty rough air, I was cured! Then I really learned to fly!

Hey! Just realized I took my first flight lesson around Cherokee airport. I departed pdk to the north, then went to Cobb, and then to Cherokee. I remember we topped off at Cherokee before heading back to pdk, and a helicopter departed right over our heads while we were fueling. So cool to see you go there! Great flying!

2:26 - Christy's hand grabs anything for "security"... 2:35 - grip tightens, neck muscles go rigid...2:40 - gritting teeth... 2:59 - she declines cool air, since it requires releasing grip on door.. 3:06 - Kevin give Christy something to "watch for" outside the cockpit, knowing this will relieve some tension (smart move).. 3:17 - Christy lies about the scenery, to appear interested.. 3:25 - she exhales for the first time since takeoff roll.. 4:44 Pushed to her personal limit, Christy retrieves pre-prepared strong cocktail, placed to appear innocent in a water bottle. 17:18 - wee.. THATS better ! And yet, she remained cute during the entire ordeal. Great job Christy and thanks for sharing Kevin !

Took my sister up in a 172. When we got to altitude her first words were: "So this is what the maps are all about!"
When I give a nervous PAX a ride in the right seat I give them something to do or watch-they completely focus on the task like thier lives depend on it....and forget they are flying.
Have 'em watch the RPMs, or the manifold pressure....lol.

What a great video! Fun seeing Christy doing the "I'm not touching you" thing lol! Poor lady was soooooo tense taking off! I felt bad for her! She seemed to comfort right down with that refill of her drink though! Too bad she didnt try taking the controls! Maybe that would put her at ease?
I cant wait to see some follow up videos! Fun hearing the radio callouts you got from viewers and someone talking your photos near your hanger as you went by them.

Just curios, is your sister afraid of heights? I noticed a lot of pilots are afraid of heights, but love flying. So I was wondering if the inverse is true. Are people afraid to fly not afraid of heights?
Spot on. I fly and I'm afraid of heights. I can't even climb a 12 foot ladder without getting nervous. One time I was climbing out of KDVT and there was this black speck in the windshield. I didn't know what it was. At first I thought it was an airplane at distance but it rapidly got bigger and I thought we were going to collide. It was a black balloon with a yellow smiley face and when it went by the plane I had a weird sudden vertigo. The brain plays weird tricks!
My sister lives in WV and I'm in South Alabama. This video made me miss my sister so much..... I paused and texted her "I love you sister."
The family dynamics are great. I love seeing the love and faith in one another. Everyone with more than one kid hopes their kids get along this well later in life. Sweet.

@@310Pilot AWESOME! My old stomping grounds. I've spent a lot of time on both lakes. When I was much younger, I used to clean the bottom of houseboats at Ft. Loudon Dam marina and also go down and find watches, wallets, necklaces and other items boat owners and guests would drop overboard. I grew up in Knoxville. I've lived in FLA for the better part of 30 years. I love going back to visit every chance I get. One day, I want to build an AirCam and take it to Tennessee and visit all the lakes around the area.

As a pilot and former ATC, I love that you call out the airspeed, rotation, PAPI, GUMPS check etc. You're a well trained and competent pilot. Kudos! It also makes for great listening.

I've been air crew for over forty years. You wouldn't catch me going up in one of these light aircraft in a million years. It's like being in a tumble dryer.
Kevin does a good job keeping out of the clouds. The bumpiest part was on final approach. The clouds can bump you around a little.
Shucks, the 310 is a six place "big" aircraft compared to the light stuff (single engine, two seats) that I am used to. The 310 has been my dream plane since I watched the "Sky King" TV show, where the lead character Sky King flew his plane, the Songbird, in adventures out west. The show was aired from 1951 to 1962. There were two "Songbirds" used in the series--the first was a Cessna T-50 Bobcat, the second was a Cessna 310B.
And by the way I'm watching you from UA-cam to you guys have the best flying shows in a Cessna 310 that is so cool to me because I flew in a couple twins but I still love my Cessna 210

I've taken up a few people who were really terrified of flying. One went into another state on takeoff. I asked her why she wanted to fly, and she said she wanted to confront her fear! - Thanks a lot, lol Another, my mother told me and one day I just taxed around. Then came the fateful day. After we landed the joy and gratitude on my mother's face was so beautiful as she told me it was the greatest experience of her life!

Lots of folks have a fear of flying, nothing to worry about. Your sister is a sweet girl and she obviously trusts you more than she fears flying so that's great. You need to find her a flying buddy - whoops is she married ? If so forget my previous suggestion ! Great video, glad you're back.
