From what I understood, this song was about Freddie's life journey, coming out as bisexual, killing his own self as the person his parents knew, therefore disappointing his mother. Their record company didn't want to release it as a single because it exceeded the normal length of singles but they did it. There is no one that will ever out do Freddie and Queen when it comes to this particular song..
Yes, the drummer, Roger Taylor, does have an amazing voice, too. I think the best example of his high range is in the song “In the Lap of the Gods”, (1974 at the Rainbow version). His part is near the middle to the end of the song. The guitarist, Brian May, has a great range too. Check out his version of “Too Much Love Will Kill You”. 💕💜💕💜💕💜

Freddie started composing this as a college student and the working title was The Cowboy Song. Bits and pieces of it became Bohemian Rhapsody. He left the song’s meaning to everyone’s interpretation. Many people think it’s about his realization of his sexual orientation…that the man killed in the song was his heterosexual identity. Perhaps, but considering he started writing this so young, I tend to disagree.
@@sandrabutler8483 Actually, it was referred to as "The Cowboy Song" before it was Mongolian Rhapsody. Because of the killing the man and all that, Freddie was actually writing about a young cowboy with that part of the song. Mongolian Rhapsody was actually going to be the name of the finished song but shortly before he finished it, Freddie decided he liked Bohemian Rhapsody better for the name of the song. There are lots of copies of lyrics most on little scraps of paper that are covered in doodles that Freddie was constantly doing. By the time the lyrics got onto one page each, there had been several piles of lyrics on scraps combined to make those. Freddie even said that originally he referred to it as "The Cowboy Song" and so did the band members.
@@sherryheim5504 I saw the original and the story behind it at the auction of all of Freddie home Garden Lodge last year in London, it was referred to as cowboy but not on paper, I have the book from the auction as well as video of 30,000 items he collected over the years and his work, that's why the suit he wore in the video, lyrics, snake bracelet and piano, although not the one in the video but one he composed it on went for over five million Stirling, not including fees

The piano he has is gorgeous and according to Brian "It is a good one." I am certain that Freddie had quite a few pianos but I do recall seeing one at Garden Lodge as well.
@@sherryheim5504 two at Garden Lodge both were sold, Dr Sir Brian has sold his London home but hasn't actually moved he's still got his other home with Lady May with a huge garden where he can walk and work. The London home flooded a couple of years ago, which is one reason they decided to permanently stay in the other place. This actually was three different songs that Freddie had started writing well before recording this, but never completed any of them. Since they were all on a similar theme, he decided to combine them into a rhapsody. This song had several names before he finally settled on Bohemian Rhapsody. Mostly it had been referred to as "The Cowboy Song." What inspired this song was that the band was bankrupt due to poor management who had stolen money from them. Queen had had 3 successful albums and at least 3 successufl tours but they were all still living in the same little places they had before any of that happened and each only being paid around 20 Pounds a week. When they found out about their financial situation they fired their management which resulted in a law suit and Elton John's manager took on the band. He said he would finance them and for them to go into the studio and make the best album they could. This would be the album A Night At The Opera. Freddie knew he had to come up with something special or the band would be finished. So this is what he came up with. It also makes so much more sense than Freddie coming to terms with his sexuality because Freddie kept his personal life personal and it was not usually a part of his songs other than perhaps Don't Stop Me Now. If it was Brian who had written it instead, I would be looking for a personal connection because Brian's life experiences are painted everywhere across his songs.

If you haven't, a must listen is Somebody to Love from the Queen performance in Montreal 1981. I spent my 24th B-Day there, 8 row and center floor. I could see the sweat on his brow! lol. This is one of his best performances hands down.

Queen never performed the operatic segment live for obvious reasons . It could not be reproduced live . So many times they would pause there and play the audio and video on a screen behind them, then come back in live during the rocking portion. The song began as a mash up of three melodies Freddie was toying with . It is said that the lyrics represent Freddie coming out as Gay. He was VERY fearful of the response he would get not only from Family , but from their ever growing fan base at the time. The song especially the Operatic segment represents Freddie internal battle with who he really was. The Man that dies in the end is the Old Paranoid Freddie. And his final decision that " Nothing really Matters" except being who he really is.

Yes, the drummer, Roger Taylor, does have an amazing voice, too. I think the best example of his high range is in the song “In the Lap of the Gods”, (1974 at the Rainbow version). His part is near the middle to the end of the song. The guitarist, Brian May, has a great range too. Check out his version of “Too Much Love Will Kill You”. 💕💜💕💜💕💜

Freddie started composing this as a college student and the working title was The Cowboy Song. Bits and pieces of it became Bohemian Rhapsody. He left the song’s meaning to everyone’s interpretation. Many people think it’s about his realization of his sexual orientation…that the man killed in the song was his heterosexual identity. Perhaps, but considering he started writing this so young, I tend to disagree.
It was originally called Mongolian Rhapsody, I've seen the lyrics and it's three songs he just couldn't finish
@@sandrabutler8483 Actually, it was referred to as "The Cowboy Song" before it was Mongolian Rhapsody. Because of the killing the man and all that, Freddie was actually writing about a young cowboy with that part of the song. Mongolian Rhapsody was actually going to be the name of the finished song but shortly before he finished it, Freddie decided he liked Bohemian Rhapsody better for the name of the song. There are lots of copies of lyrics most on little scraps of paper that are covered in doodles that Freddie was constantly doing. By the time the lyrics got onto one page each, there had been several piles of lyrics on scraps combined to make those. Freddie even said that originally he referred to it as "The Cowboy Song" and so did the band members.
@@sherryheim5504 I saw the original and the story behind it at the auction of all of Freddie home Garden Lodge last year in London, it was referred to as cowboy but not on paper, I have the book from the auction as well as video of 30,000 items he collected over the years and his work, that's why the suit he wore in the video, lyrics, snake bracelet and piano, although not the one in the video but one he composed it on went for over five million Stirling, not including fees
@@sandrabutler8483 Brian has Freddie's favorite touring piano in his home or studio. I am not sure which at this point since Brian recently moved. The piano he has is gorgeous and according to Brian "It is a good one." I am certain that Freddie had quite a few pianos but I do recall seeing one at Garden Lodge as well.
@@sherryheim5504 two at Garden Lodge both were sold, Dr Sir Brian has sold his London home but hasn't actually moved he's still got his other home with Lady May with a huge garden where he can walk and work. The London home flooded a couple of years ago, which is one reason they decided to permanently stay in the other place. I have a friend who knows Sir Brian and his wife and also had been friends with Fred and Roger, so information I give actually comes from the inside
This actually was three different songs that Freddie had started writing well before recording this, but never completed any of them. Since they were all on a similar theme, he decided to combine them into a rhapsody. This song had several names before he finally settled on Bohemian Rhapsody. Mostly it had been referred to as "The Cowboy Song." What inspired this song was that the band was bankrupt due to poor management who had stolen money from them. Queen had had 3 successful albums and at least 3 successufl tours but they were all still living in the same little places they had before any of that happened and each only being paid around 20 Pounds a week. When they found out about their financial situation they fired their management which resulted in a law suit and Elton John's manager took on the band. He said he would finance them and for them to go into the studio and make the best album they could. This would be the album A Night At The Opera. Freddie knew he had to come up with something special or the band would be finished. So this is what he came up with. It also makes so much more sense than Freddie coming to terms with his sexuality because Freddie kept his personal life personal and it was not usually a part of his songs other than perhaps Don't Stop Me Now. If it was Brian who had written it instead, I would be looking for a personal connection because Brian's life experiences are painted everywhere across his songs.

If you haven't, a must listen is Somebody to Love from the Queen performance in Montreal 1981. I spent my 24th B-Day there, 8 row and center floor. I could see the sweat on his brow! lol. This is one of his best performances hands down.

No one actually knows, just Freddie, however it's three songs he just couldn't finish so put them together, the song is actually sung by just one person for the majority of what you hear, Roger has the high notes in the middle section, but it's just Freddie for the rest of it, there's a documentary about it on the official Queen channel " Inside The Rhapsody "

Yes, greatest song of all time! The more you listen to it, more and more layers of brilliance hit you. I get a kick that you have heard covers of it, but never the real thing. I have enjoyed some of the covers, others make me sick, but nothing compares to the original.

Queen never performed the operatic segment live for obvious reasons . It could not be reproduced live . So many times they would pause there and play the audio and video on a screen behind them, then come back in live during the rocking portion. The song began as a mash up of three melodies Freddie was toying with . It is said that the lyrics represent Freddie coming out as Gay. He was VERY fearful of the response he would get not only from Family , but from their ever growing fan base at the time. The song especially the Operatic segment represents Freddie internal battle with who he really was. The Man that dies in the end is the Old Paranoid Freddie. And his final decision that " Nothing really Matters" except being who he really is.

Hi, new to watching your channel. You should watch this live in Montreal 1981 (same concert as Somebody to Love) if you haven't. The live performance are always such a powerhouse performance in comparison to the studio version.
