Hey guys, I made this and it was awesome! I might have cooked the meat five minutes longer. It was so easy to prepare and everyone said it was so soft and delicious.
You can even add cumin and cumin seeds towards the end to give it that central Asian taste!

For all those with a viewpoint that meat and butter are unhealthy. Do some research. Red meat and butter are some of the healthiest things to consume. Fruits and veggies aren’t as nutrient dense as steak. If you don’t over season the steak and cooking it without oils then it’s a healthy meal

Imma try this but add Serranos with the garlic to add some spice. Ill see how it goes
I used red wine instead of Chinese cooking wine, Serranos, and all purpose flour instead of baking soda, thin steaks, and let it marinate for 30 minutes. That was one of the best meals ive made in a looooong time. I really recommend.

mirin kind of implies it's japanese, I'd use a Chinese rice wine. might have different flavor profiles. another common but darker wine is Chinese Shao Xing Wine

To make it tender and soft instead of it being tough if it's a cheap cut.
Submerge it in water for 15mins or more then rinse. If you don't rinse, it'll taste bitter
