that's what I also do when I cook for myself, I tried to clean as I go whenever possible. But when I cook for the whole family then I just keep the counter clean and let someone else handle the dishes
My grandma tried to teach me that growing up. I ignored that advice as a young adult, as she tended to be a neat freak and it annoyed me... Ended up not cooking for a long time, as I dreaded the pile of dishes and mess to clean in the a.m. Then I started working in kitchens, and learned real fast that she was right. Now I'm religious about clean-as-you go, and get hella annoyed at coworkers and roomates that don't do the same. Tldr: your mom/ grandma was right, listen to her 😂
What makes this for me is the lack of "right" equipment and resources. Watching you smear olive oil because you don't have spray...using olive oil because you don't have neutral...faking the fork....all this encourages me that I don't have do it "right", just do it! Thanks for a terrific vid.
My dad was an executive chef, and he taught me to never leave panhandles sticking off the stove - since someone could inadvertently catapult the hot contents across the room. Just wanted to give a shout-out for kitchen safety.
When I was young we had a neighbor with a small child who reached up and grabbed the handle of a pot of boiling water on the stove and flipped it onto herself. She was too young to know much better but she ended up severely burning majority of her body and will live with the disfigurement for the rest of her life. It was heartbreaking and to this day, even though I don’t have children, I never leave a pot handle sticking out.
@@tjohn7174 It is very thoughtful of you to share this story. Hopefully, it can help to illustrate the importance of developing this essential safety habit - and to avoid this kind of heartbreaking injury from happening to others.
Thank you for the useful recipes Mike! I'm a single dad with 2 kids and 2 full time jobs. Putting home cooked meals on the table is extremely difficult to say the least. This helps me from ordering pizza and eating garbage.
Well done Steve, you'll look back on these years and wonder how you did it 🤗, I know I do, and my mum did, she had a full-time job and 5kids to bring up on her own, this was back in the 60s, as soon as she got home she had to start cooking!! So hats off to her, me and you Steve 👍😁😘🙋
More quick meals please. It is a public service to encourage working people to feed themselves and/or their family a home cooked meal once in a while..... Thank you for a great video.
Exactly, one of my favorites is tostadas. Is kind of the same salad but on the top of hard shell tortillas, not the one folded, the one unfolded, with a layer of mashed beans. Little cheese... and done. 10 min from start to end.
I've been in a depressive rut for awhile, I have almost no energy to cook for myself. This video really made me motivated to cook something for myself. Didn't know I needed this today but I definitely did ❤️
Let us know what you made. Maybe start doing a IG or tic tok to show what you make for yourself every day to help you get a routine, and share with others who may have the same situation 💞
Same! I’d love to see a video on how to set up a pantry and what are the essential cooking utensils for a pro home cook. Hubby and I are about to move into our first home and I want to put together a grown up kitchen instead of college kid haha
I made the quesadilla for my wife tonight after a really long day and she loved it. And it was done in under 20 minutes. Before this video I would have said let’s just get takeout, but knowing I’d have an awesome home cooked meal with a recipe already in mind… total game changer. Thank you, Mike!
I’ve been binging on your quick meal and freezable meal videos. I am disabled and cannot stand long in the kitchen while cooking without being in pain. These recipes are a lifesaver along with the freezable meal videos as they also help save time and don’t require me to stand for long periods of time everyday. A lot of us need to save time, some of us need to save ourselves and our bodies. Thank you so much. You have no idea how much videos like this make it easier. I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart. Have a great day! 🥰❤️
also the only fresh tomato I will buy outside of the summer months. They produce really good sweet cherry tomatoes year round in green houses around the world.
Personally, I have allergy on tomatoes and can‘t eat potatoes, eggplant or grapes either. From everything mentiones, cherry tomatoes are the worst (i get skin irritation already from touching them). So, my go-to meal is home made tagliatelle with mushroom sauce and Smetana. Easy, fast and tasty.
PLEASE do more of these, I barely have time to cook and because of that I just end up ordering. Your style of cooking and the meals you create are really in line with how my boyfriend and I eat. I'm so glad UA-cam recommended your channel
This is really encouraging. So many "quick" recipes online take hours still when you count all the prep time. I've been cooking for the household for years, and it's so time-consuming. Just found this channel, and it's got me excited about cooking again.
I love that you clean up as you go along. Once I learned that trick, I found cooking so much more enjoyable. Thank you for these tips, who can’t use them?
I like that you have always something for everyone - vegetraians, non-vegetarians, vegans. And your food is always super customizable to one’s liking. Great job! And yes on more quick meals!
@David Davidson Most these convert to GF pretty easily. For pasta, gf noodles are common in stores now, same isle. For quesadilla, use corn tortillas. For stir fry, he's using rice noodles already, and you can use tamari instead of soy sauce (near identical flavor, next to soy sauce at store.) For wings, use a gf flour blend (usually special gf isle) and add tsp of baking powder to help with crispyness. I get it though, finding gf recipes and learning the substitutions can be hard af.
This is 4 of your Top 10 recipes, you say?? Sounds like you need to make another video with the other 6 recipes! :-D Thank you! These are going to go into the rotation in my kitchen, for SURE!
I just made the pasta (it took about an hour since it was my first try at it). And guys… it is GOOD. 10/10 highly recommended. Cooking down the fresh tomatoes is so much better than the stuff in a jar. I cooked some Italian sausage separately and mixed it into the pasta at the end for some added protein. The pasta is delicious with or without the sausage :)
I would definitely be interested in a follow-up with some more 15 minute meals. The more I learn to cook, the more I'm realizing how important it is to have a well stocked pantry and a good selection of fresh ingredients.
@@AbrielMcPierce Soup. Soup soup soup. I know that this video is about 15 min meals, but the BEST use of your produce that's turning is to turn it into a soup stock (or freeze it, then turn it into soup stock), which is INCREDIBLY easy to do. Soup stock can be frozen too, so it's always on hand.
That was super helpful. I have an infant and wife to feed every day. I've prepared a ton of frozen meals, but sometimes reheating them thoroughly can even take about 15 min. These are great options to use up what's on hand or needs to be eaten. More of this kind of stuff please!
As a tomato lover and homegrower (usually between 30 and 50 tomato plants each summer). I must say my friends are always impressed when I pull off this tomato pasta sauce 🤤 with homegrown tonatoes, herbs, onions and garlic! Easy to grow AND easy to cook 😎
I was in a panic for dinner on the hectic day I watched this. By chance, I happened to have everything in the kitchen so I decided to make it. The tomato pasta was sooooo good. My three boys devoured it, and even thanked me for making dinner! Thanks for the practical recipes and encouragement. You can definitely get an amazing meal on the table in 15 min.
This is the content that sets you apart from other cooking channels. Accessible recipes, clear explanations and just getting scrappy with it! Keep it up
Fresh Tomato Marinara Pasta Ingredients: 16 ounces of the pasta of your choice 1 onion, diced 2 cloves of garlic, sliced 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil Pinch of salt 2 pints of cherry tomatoes ¼ cup of shredded parmesan cheese ¼ cup of roughly chopped parsley
Instructions: Bring a salted pot of water to a boil as well as bring a wide saute pan to a medium heat. Add oil to the wide saute pan. Once it starts to shimmer, add in the chopped onion and garlic. When the garlic and onion soften a bit, approx 2 - 3 minutes, add in the cherry tomatoes and top it with the lid. When the water is boiling add in the pasta. Once the tomatoes are starting to burst, grab a spatula and mash the tomatoes to release the juices. Turn the heat to low, sprinkle in some more salt, and let reduce. Drain the pasta and add it to the tomato sauce. Pour in ¼ cup of pasta water and toss. Let the sauce reduce and add in the parmesan cheese. Toss is the parsley along with a little more water and crack of pepper. Bacon & Veggie Quesadilla Ingredients: 2 flour tortilla 4 strips of bacon, sliced into chunks 1 tomato, sliced ½ cup of fresh mozzarella ¼ cup of spicy gouda 1 cup of spinach
Instructions: Heat a large saute pan on medium heat. Drop in the bacon and let that sizzle away. Once there is enough heat, tilt the pan to “deep fry” the bacon pieces. Take the bacon out and pour out 80% of the fat into a bowl or cup. With the leftover fat in the pan, add in your spinach and let it wilt away. In the meantime, prepare the quesadillas. Add mozzarella to the bottom, followed by crispy bacon, the wilted spinach, 2 -3 tomato slices, and some spicy gouda. Fold over and squish. Pour the reserved fat back into the saute pan and place the quesadilla down. Get one side coated in oil before flipping to coat the otherside in fat. Fry until golden brown and crispy. While it fries up you can make some avocado crema sauce to go with it or clean up the kitchen a little. Flip and crispify the other side. Cut in pieces and enjoy! Avocado Cream Ingredients: 1 cup of chopped cilantro (with stems) 1/3 cup of yogurt 1 Avocado 1 clove of garlic Juice of 1 lime Salt and pepper Water if needed to thin out Instructions: In a food processor, add in chopped cilantro with stems, yogurt, avocado, a garlic clove, juice of a lime, salt, and pepper. Blitz until smooth. Drizzle in some water to thin out the sauce. Pour into a container and store in the fridge until ready to use. Thai Noodle Dish Ingredients: 1 -2 tablespoons of neutral oil 1 onion, sliced 1 red pepper, sliced 1 clove of garlic, roughly chopped 1 knob of ginge, roughly chopped ½ cup of bok choy 2 eggs 1 package of rice noodles 1 teaspoon of sesame oil 1 teaspoon of rice vinegar 1 tablespoon of soy sauce 1 teaspoon of fish sauce 1 tablespoon of water A few leaves of basil
Instructions: In a medium saute pan, add in 1 - 2 tablespoons of oil. Once it starts to shimmer add in the onion and pepper. Let soften for 1 - 2 minutes before adding in the chopped garlic and ginger. Cook for another 1 - 2 minutes. Push all the veggies to one side. Drizzle in some more oil, and crack in the eggs. Poke the yolk and let one side fry up. Flip to fry the other side and break up the eggs. Combine with the veggies. Drop in the rice noodles and hit it with sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, fish sauce, and water. Toss to combine and soften up the noodles. Toss in a few sprigs of basil and serve it! Chicken Wings & Salad Ingredients: 12 chicken wings 2 tablespoons of flour 1 tablespoons of your favorite spice mix Pinch of salt A little bit of oil 1 tablespoon of lemon juice 2 teaspoon of maple syrup 1 teaspoon of dijon mustard Salt and pepper 2 -3 tablespoons of olive oil ¼ cup of red onion, sliced 1 - 2 radishes, sliced ¼ cup of chopped tomatoes 1 cup of gem lettuce, ripped
Instructions: In a bowl, add in the chicken wings with the flour, spice mix, and salt. Toss to combine and place into an air fryer. Spray with some oil and air fry at 380 for 15 minutes. While the chicken wings are cooking, grab a big bowl and add in lemon juice, maple syrup, mustard, salt and pepper. Drizzle in some olive oil while vigorously whisking until you get a nice mustard vinaigrette. Then add in the sliced onion and radish along with tomatoes and gem lettuce. Toss to combine and serve with the hot crispy wings!

@@CT1010101 gloves? Or washing them immediately afterwards, so the oils don't stick to your fingers too long? There's probably better advice out there, tbh
I just want to thank you for giving me the motivation to cook. I don’t have the healthiest relationship with food and cooking is something I do only at knife point. I stumbled upon this video today and immediately went to the grocery store to buy ingredients for my first 15 minutes meal. The first one turned out super good. I’m so excited and I can’t wait to make chicken teriyaki tomorrow and coconut curry and many many more dishes on your channel. Thank you! Could you make a video on a week meal plan? That would be really interesting for people who doesn’t have time to cook everyday.
One of the best and easiest ways to cook is the oven. Americans way under utilize ovens. I am a chef and use it just about daily. Sheet pans and parchment paper are your friends. You don't have to constantly watch like a stove. For a curry, I'd just throw all veg on a sheet pan with some fat, roast off. Do sauce separate and toss together. Oven cooking is perfect for those who don't like to cook or beginners.
What the above person said, baked dishes are super low effort and hard to mess up, and create less mess. Also... 1. clean as you go, because leaving a mess for the morning will make you stop wanting to cook real fast 2. Learn how to multitask and what order to start the meal, it'll help cut down cooking time so it doesn't seem like such an effort. This takes practice and some basic cooking knowledge, so best to start with meals that dont have a lot of separate steps 3. Start with really basic meals like omlettes, meat and veggies, stews, casseroles, etc. Dont try and be fancy, start with the basics like how to season and cook a good steak or chicken thigh 4. Choose forgiving meats and veggies (chicken thighs or legs are harder to make dry than breasts for example, asparagus is really easy to overcook but not squash, etc.) 5. Never cook on high as a beginner, youll just burn shit. Medium high is the most you need as a beginner (for searing thin meats and veggies quickly). Use mainly medium on stove top (or 350 in an oven). Low (2-4 stovetop) is good for soups and things that need to simmer for awhile. 6. And most importantly, if you mess up and make a bad meal, just try again another day. Like all things it takes practice, view mistakes are a learning opportunity instead of a failure! Sorry it's so long, hope this helps someone, coming from someone that used to hate to cook, and now does it for a living and at home =)
So happy watching how much this channel has evolved over the last several years. Proud of everything you've accomplished Mike. I will never forget Brother's Green though....Congrats on the new set!
I made the first dish, the pasta, 4 times already since seeing this video. It's literally one of the most flavorful pastas I've eaten! It was so good, I didn't even need any cheesy added. This has become my go-to dinner when I'm lazy but craving some good flavors; it's quick, super affordable, and absolutely delicious!
a little tip by an italian, salt the water when it's boiling before the pasta, unsalted pasta taste not half as good as salted pasta no matter what sauce u add :)
I skipped through the video and noticed the lack of flavour in most dishes. The pasta sauce will be far better by adding a combination of olives, capers, and dried chilli flakes. The noodles need oyster sauce (and veggies were over-cooked). Etc.
I loved these. I work a TON. And we usually are doing frozen pizza, fast food, or spaghetti-Os. While my husband is very picky and doesn't eat hardly any veggies, I crave some home cooked fresh meals. I usually cut corners by buying rotisserie chicken or canned sauses, but you have inspired me to try to look beyond that! I'd love more meals to keep in mind for those days I can cook.
Love how efficient you are in the kitchen. Part of the reason i've been put off by cooking is the cleaning afterwards, but you incorporate it into the whole process when you have time, I love it!
Taking the time to prep all of your veggies first before you even heat the pan will allow you to clean as you go. In French it is called mise en place, or getting everything in place. It makes a huge difference! Happy cooking!
I generally avoid recipes where I have to prep all the vegetables first. “Mise en place” translates to “washing all those little dishes is someone else’s problem”.
@@dressmaking oh. I don’t use a bunch of little dishes. I just make little piles on my cutting board that I scrape in when I need it. The only time I use a little dish is when I am measuring spices, but they all go in the same dish.
I have definitely upped my easy cooking game having watched for several years. I have a tendency to over complicate and you always demonstrate how easy it can be! More please!!
cherry tomatos are extremely expensive and quite hard to get here in venezuela, i replace them with normal italian tomatos (the long ones, are cheap and year round available) dice them big and stir fri them with a bit of vinegar and sugar to cheat the flavor profile, my mother and brother like to blend them after for quick creamy tomato sauce i like them rough
So true. On the east coast of the USA in the Bidet economy, cherry tomatoes are $5 American for a pint ( about 1 1/2 cups), but looking at this home and subs on the channel, tax deductible meals are what’s happening. Romas as you described would do just as well. ☝🏼
Hey I´m also from Venezuela and let me be honest, I´ve never seen cherry tomatoes before, my dad always cooked with regular tomatoes and he rocked it everytime
Been doing the pasta for years, and got it down to 10 mins. My tips: 1) Fill your kettle & boil. It's faster than boiling a full pan of water. While the kettle is boiling have your pasta pan preheating with a enough water just to cover the bottom. 2) While kettle is boiling & pans preheating, quickly dice onion & garlic. If you have a hand held pulley dicer $8 from Kmart, it makes it really quick & easy. 3) I use a passata base, or tin of diced tomatoes. Some tinned tomato already come with herbs & nothing else added - always check the ingredients, some have added salt. Passata or tinned tomato are also already broken down. Obviously not as yummy as cherry tomatoes, but where I live, cherry tomatoes are $$ and you can keep toned tomatoes/passata in the cupboard for using anytime. 😇 Say no to pasta sauce in a jar people!
I’m so glad I found your channel. So many others have so many expensive ingredients and equipment. I just want to cook after a long day of work and not have 100+ dishes to wash afterwards.
Adding a can of Cannellini beans to the pasta and tomato sauce will add fiber and protein. This would be more satisfying and last longer in your belly.
easy way to extend to more portions too. I hope he'll do a show making the quick polenta now on the market (superfine) it cooks in abt 5 minutes all it needs is seasoning and a protein to go over it and a green. Sooo delicious. It s my go-to way to use leftover cooked meats, stews, braises. etc. Yummy simply with a fried egg too.
Thank you! I am seeing a trend of using Cherry Tomatoes for a quick pasta sauce and that makes sense. Can't tell you how many times we buy cherry tomatoes and eat 1/2 and the other 1/2 goes to waste. Enjoyed watching the video and inspired me to make even more dishes when I am tired. I have to begin to stock the right FRESH foods and actually use them!
This is really smart. My favourite thing about all of these is that it’s perfect for when someone drops by, and you can whip it up in no time. Well done, Mike! I would love to see more of these.
Noodles stir fry was the best. I tried it and result was amazing. Confession I did a twist on the recipe according to my test buds..add some chilli and black pepper. Spot on. Thanks for shearing your knowledge.
Kudos on keeping the lost art of 'cleaning as you go' alive; it's how I learned to manage my kitchen as a kid in 7th grade Home Ec and it really makes a difference. (I'm still having a hard time getting my wife to follow, though!)
Reminds me of when I had a Christmas dinner in France and afterwards there was almost no mess. I was amazed but it did inspire me to try clean as you go.
You sir are a street smart cooking genius. Been watchin' for years, always impressed at the simplicity and creativity, and I'm not a novice cook. I will make each one of these. Thank you for making all your fans healthier! 2.7 million views, hell yeah!
@Ford Wayne -- A year later (February 21, 2023), and there are 5,926,027, or *NEARLY SIX MILLION VIEWS!* Yeah, he _DOES_ put out a lot of excellent ideas, and I'm looking forward to eating these four, very soon. (The *bacon Quesadilla literally GOT ME TO DROOLING!)*
Loved this video! I’ve been struggling with making meals because they either take too long after I get home from work, or I just don’t want to cook the same things over and over again. Would love to see another one of these types of videos! Thanks!
Can't thank you enough for the simple pasta with cherry tomatoes recipe. So much better than jar sauces. It's become one of my go-to dishes for dinner. So easy and so much flavor. Good on ya, Mike. Keep it up.
The very best pasta dish I ever had was a simple spaghetti bolognese I had in an upstairs restaurant right next to the train station in Rome back in 1990. Halfway through I thought... I hope they take credit cards. They didn't!! It was a family operation, the women cooked and the men were front of house. I used my high school italian to ask 'domani'? Meaning I would pay the next day. They waved us away indicating yes, and then asked if we wanted anything else to eat that night! Amazing. Next day we went back and paid. They took it as normal, not overly effusive or anything. I have never forgotten their commitment to their food and belief in us and also (I imagine) their capacity to write off those who don't come back to pay.) Back to business, I have often wondered why that dish was better than anything I had had in Australia. Now I know, it was using the pasta water.
I love that you thanked the chickens for the eggs. I always thank the rosemary plant as I clip a bit off. (The rosemary plant is the only food I have on the property - I live in an apartment with tiny windows facing the wrong way so I cannot even grow basil or mint on a windowsill.) Anyway, these all looked good. I also like that you mentioned multi-tasking - I also dislike a huge pile of dishes after cooking, and doing some of the dishes and cleaning while something roasts or sears or boils is such a help. Thanks again for thanking the chickens.
I definitely want more of these "quick and easy" dinner recipes. Thanks Mike! It does take longer than 15 minutes for a novice cook to whip up these meals but at least I won't be in the kitchen the whole night cooking and cleaning just to make a meal.
Yes please post more of these videos!! As a college student, I’m really trying to find quick, nutritious, and good tasting food that won’t break my wallet. This was great!
Every time I try one of your meals my husband is especially appreciative. Just cooked the pasta as I had all of the ingredients on hand and it was super quick, easy and tasty. Love your work Mike!
teach me how to do it WITHOUt tools that I don't have like a $400 mixer and I might learn that I need that mixer. 90% of your viewers have disposable income but everyone loves seeing food made from scratch scratch
More of this, please!!! I really like that you improvised on the fly. This feels very real-world and practical for the average person. Since covid I've gotten into cooking and during the weekdays if I'm preparing for just myself, I'm very lazy. I just want quick yummy meals that don't cost a lot
Every time I try one of your meals my husband is especially appreciative. Just cooked the pasta as I had all of the ingredients on hand and it was super quick, easy and tasty. Love your work Mike!
A quick tip from an itallian regarding the pasta, please remember to add coarse salt to the boiling water BEFORE adding the pasta. In italy we usually go bye eye and by quantity of water in the pot, in the case of this video i'd personally go with a handfull and a pinch of salt. Remember if you dont salt your pasta it will DEFINITLEY taste bland and well... american no matter how good the sauce is XD. all in all tho nice dish!
The main reason to use salt on the water is because it boils faster, water is awlful heat conductor, adding a mineral (NaCL / salt) will make your boiling faster
@@matheusgomes3386 im sure it helps it boil faster but in this case at least in Italy we add the salt when the water is already boiling to season the pasta a bit so it doesnt taste like cardboard XD (it also has the effect of seasoning the sauce further when you add the pasta water to the sauce)
Yea even growing up in Louisiana I’ve always been told by natives it is disgraceful to not salt your pasta bc it will taste like shit no matter what ya do lol
Glad someone finally talked about cleaning during the cooking process because really who feels like washing dishes after sitting down to have a nice meal. Those quesadillas looked so good! Will definitely add that to one of my meals.
I just made the Quesadillas and used rotisserie chicken instead of bacon (so my toddler can eat it too) and we all loved it! I really love how customizable it is and how quick it was to make. My ADHD thanks you :)
Thanks so much. I was feeling very blah about cooking. (I cook most nights and it’s just become a lot). Your little pep talk at the beginning made me feel better about my efforts 🥺 I proceeded to make your pasta with the ingredients in my fridge and enjoying a new pasta dish! Never had this creamy of pasta before. 😋 Thank you so much! 👩🏻🍳
honestly, air fryer wings with flour just makes it soggier. I've made my air fryer wings without flour and it turns out better every single time, the skin gets crispy and delicious without worrying about the breading ruining the skin texture. the rough skin also holds plenty of sauce once you toss it in butter and frank's, and you can also add more seasoning directly to the chicken to give it char.
I love coating mine in oil and seasonings, then air frying them and tossing them in whatever sauce I feel like, normally butter and Louisiana hot sauce. Gloriously crispy, minimal effort, and SO good.
I'm a student, and I have a full package of cherry tomatoes that I hadn't done anything with all week, I'll have to hurry now not to lose them, so this has come at the perfect time!!
@@samkc3423 it was super delicious!! Idk if it was the pasta water or what, but I loved it. Will definitely be buying cherry tomatoes instead of sauce when I crave pasta next time. Enjoy!
I just harvested a bunch of cherry tomatoes and was trying to figure out what to do with them. That pasta recipe was really good. I definitely will make it again!!
I’m making the tomato sauce from the first clip. I’m waiting for the tomatoes to pop so I can smush and finish it off. It smells so freaking good. I can’t believe I’ve never made this or even seen this made before. I can not wait! Edit: omg it’s so good thank you for this!
wow. life changing way to fry up those quesadillas.... that extra bit of oil makes them so crunchy and carmelized on the outside!! i used my carbon steel pan...and to die for. thank you so much.
An alternative for the pasta: use garlic (whole, uncut) and an anchovy, then add cherry tomatos and parley: very tasy and even easier. With fish I don't suggest to add cheese, but if you like do what you want. Anchovy are kinda strong, so you don't need anything else
I make the same pasta dish at home all the time except I use shallots instead of the onions, add lemon juice, and linguini. Love how you can transform these simple dishes.
This is one of my favorite cooking videos! I’ve already made two of these dishes and there is no way that you can screw these up. Thank you for a great video. Look forward to some more 15 minute gems.
PLEASE MORE OF THESE VIDEOS!! I've loved learning some really spectacular meals and great cooking techniques from your other videos, but more of these smart quick easy but delicious recipes are awesome!!!
I get out at 8pm and need quick dinners. Those stir fry, and enchiladas are items I always have in the kitchen. You have motivated me with the right dinners! More cooking! Less fast food!
I absolutely love this kind of content. It's not like I don't love your long form stuff but this is what I needed. I've been slacking a bit lately because ya know I've just been very busy, I'm tired, I don't feel like cooking. Sometimes I need to be reminded how amazing of a meal can be created by just a few ingredients and a little time.
So I just made the quesadilla and avocado cilantro crema. And following the advice of "use what you have" I made the quesadilla with arugula instead of spinach, and switched the cilantro for parsley. This was so easy to make, thanks for the recipie Mike!
I'm all about cleaning up the mess as you go. I freak out when I walk into the kitchen when someone else is cooking and there's pans and ingredients all over the counter lol
Same! I always clean as i go, the only thing i have to wash up after dinner are plates and cutlery. When i see people leaving everything in a pile near overflowing sink i get anxious.
YESSS! This is how I cook and its honestly the best way! And agreed, I clean while everything is cooking and also have multiple burners going for faster cooking. Once you learn to multi-task in the kitchen cooking doesn't seem like such a chore
Been following since brothersgreen way back. So happy to see you’re getting the success and recognition you deserve. I always loved cooking but you guys have shown me a whole new world. Much love 🙏
Practice gets you there more confidently, I've been "confident" enough to forget a step/Ingredient a time or two lol, still...it's experience. I'm loving my food so much a restaurant meal is a disappointment now, so it's all about the engagement of the people I go with. 😁
This is sooooo helpful thank you for doing this. Please do more!!!!. I'm a music producer so I stay busy and this helps when Im cooking for my family. I plan on making all of these dishes!!
It's one of my faves too. If you want to make it even better try and find higher quality small tomatoes or some pecorino romano cheese and have it 50/50 with that and parmesan.
The style of your quesadilla actually has a name of its own here in Mexico, it’s called sincronizada, although bacon is not often added, it looks delicious
According to Google; The main difference between the real quesadilla and the sincronizadas is the obligatory inclusion of ham in the dish and the main ingredient used to make the tortilla (wheat flour instead of corn flour,...).... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sincronizada
Would love to know the back story behind the studio switch. Is this your home or a place you rent? Why leave the older spot, which seemed nice. What do you look for when choosing a new spot?
I would add one or two anchovies to the tomato sauce, and put them into the pan together with the onions. The anchovies will dissolve but they add a salty-umami tase which makes the marinara sauce taste even better.
For the stir-fried noodles, you can just as easily replace it with any kind of pasta and it will taste great too (obviously remember to boil it first!)
Oh my goodness, you have literally saved me sooo much time in the kitchen!!!! This cherry tomato pasta dish was so delicious and the whole family LOVED it!! I find making a bolognese sauce so cumbersome, so this will definitely be my go to from now on. I even added some bacon for some extra flavour :)
These are great, thank you! If rushed or tired we often do what we call a basic pasta. Get the pasta cooking, fine slice a couple of small hot chillies (Take out the seeds if you prefer it not too fiery) then slice garlic (or use some frozen.) Pop in the pan with olive oil & about half a stick of butter on a lowish heat & stir from time to time. Add salt & black pepper. Drain the pasta but leave a tiny bit of water in the pan. My grandmother taught me to cook. Her #1 rule was “clean as you go”. While something is simmering, frying or boiling, you clean up your work area. 👍❤️
Best advice my mom ever gave me!
Great advice
that's what I also do when I cook for myself, I tried to clean as I go whenever possible. But when I cook for the whole family then I just keep the counter clean and let someone else handle the dishes
If you can lean, you can clean - is my motto
What?
I thought the same thing! He was relaxed and natural, and the results were great!
Why would you use spray? It’s not a bbq
Why would you use a spray? Haha

My dad was an executive chef, and he taught me to never leave panhandles sticking off the stove - since someone could inadvertently catapult the hot contents across the room. Just wanted to give a shout-out for kitchen safety.
Noted.

@David Davidson LMAO
Honestly vegetraians sounds like an actual diet
Agreed!
And I know it’s tough, but one pan meals would be awesome
@David Davidson Most these convert to GF pretty easily. For pasta, gf noodles are common in stores now, same isle. For quesadilla, use corn tortillas. For stir fry, he's using rice noodles already, and you can use tamari instead of soy sauce (near identical flavor, next to soy sauce at store.) For wings, use a gf flour blend (usually special gf isle) and add tsp of baking powder to help with crispyness. I get it though, finding gf recipes and learning the substitutions can be hard af.
There were no vegan recipes in this video...
This is 4 of your Top 10 recipes, you say?? Sounds like you need to make another video with the other 6 recipes! :-D

Fry uo the sausage first and use the oil for flavor to fry everything next time

That was super helpful. I have an infant and wife to feed every day. I've prepared a ton of frozen meals, but sometimes reheating them thoroughly can even take about 15 min. These are great options to use up what's on hand or needs to be eaten. More of this kind of stuff please!

Fresh Tomato Marinara Pasta
Ingredients:
16 ounces of the pasta of your choice
1 onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, sliced
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
Pinch of salt
2 pints of cherry tomatoes
¼ cup of shredded parmesan cheese
¼ cup of roughly chopped parsley
Instructions:
Bring a salted pot of water to a boil as well as bring a wide saute pan to a medium heat.
Bacon & Veggie Quesadilla
Ingredients:
2 flour tortilla
4 strips of bacon, sliced into chunks
1 tomato, sliced
½ cup of fresh mozzarella
¼ cup of spicy gouda
1 cup of spinach
Instructions:
Heat a large saute pan on medium heat.
Avocado Cream
Ingredients:
1 cup of chopped cilantro (with stems)
1/3 cup of yogurt
1 Avocado
1 clove of garlic
Juice of 1 lime
Salt and pepper
Water if needed to thin out
Instructions:
In a food processor, add in chopped cilantro with stems, yogurt, avocado, a garlic clove, juice of a lime, salt, and pepper. Blitz until smooth.
Drizzle in some water to thin out the sauce. Pour into a container and store in the fridge until ready to use.
Thai Noodle Dish
Ingredients:
1 -2 tablespoons of neutral oil
1 onion, sliced
1 red pepper, sliced
1 clove of garlic, roughly chopped
1 knob of ginge, roughly chopped
½ cup of bok choy
2 eggs
1 package of rice noodles
1 teaspoon of sesame oil
1 teaspoon of rice vinegar
1 tablespoon of soy sauce
1 teaspoon of fish sauce
1 tablespoon of water
A few leaves of basil
Instructions:
In a medium saute pan, add in 1 - 2 tablespoons of oil.
Chicken Wings & Salad
Ingredients:
12 chicken wings
2 tablespoons of flour
1 tablespoons of your favorite spice mix
Pinch of salt
A little bit of oil
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
2 teaspoon of maple syrup
1 teaspoon of dijon mustard
Salt and pepper
2 -3 tablespoons of olive oil
¼ cup of red onion, sliced
1 - 2 radishes, sliced
¼ cup of chopped tomatoes
1 cup of gem lettuce, ripped
Instructions:
In a bowl, add in the chicken wings with the flour, spice mix, and salt.

Also...
1. clean as you go, because leaving a mess for the morning will make you stop wanting to cook real fast
2. Learn how to multitask and what order to start the meal, it'll help cut down cooking time so it doesn't seem like such an effort. This takes practice and some basic cooking knowledge, so best to start with meals that dont have a lot of separate steps
3. Start with really basic meals like omlettes, meat and veggies, stews, casseroles, etc. Dont try and be fancy, start with the basics like how to season and cook a good steak or chicken thigh
4. Choose forgiving meats and veggies (chicken thighs or legs are harder to make dry than breasts for example, asparagus is really easy to overcook but not squash, etc.)
Definitly give us more of these 15 min dishes! Really amazing work and well done

Seriously, just made it for the first time tonight and it's incredible.
My husband HAD to have some even though he usually rejects meatless dishes. It's a winner, and a great way to get rid of loose tomatoes!
Just did it tonight and I agree, it was awesome and so much more flavorful than it looks on screen.
a little tip by an italian, salt the water when it's boiling before the pasta, unsalted pasta taste not half as good as salted pasta no matter what sauce u add :)
I skipped through the video and noticed the lack of flavour in most dishes. The pasta sauce will be far better by adding a combination of olives, capers, and dried chilli flakes. The noodles need oyster sauce (and veggies were over-cooked). Etc.
We want MORE 15 min Dinners …. Thank You ❤️❤️❤️
I loved these.
The only time I use a little dish is when I am measuring spices, but they all go in the same dish.

cherry tomatos are extremely expensive and quite hard to get here in venezuela, i replace them with normal italian tomatos (the long ones, are cheap and year round available) dice them big and stir fri them with a bit of vinegar and sugar to cheat the flavor profile, my mother and brother like to blend them after for quick creamy tomato sauce i like them rough
I know what you mean. Here in South Africa, it's just as pricey, I always have, tomato puree on hand.
Roma tomatoes might be the next best thing to cherry tomatoes. They have a good strong flavor and they are relatively small in size.
So true. On the east coast of the USA in the Bidet economy, cherry tomatoes are $5 American for a pint ( about 1 1/2 cups), but looking at this home and subs on the channel, tax deductible meals are what’s happening. Romas as you described would do just as well. ☝🏼

@@quietmadness1768 mid terms can't get here soon enough
The noodle stir fry is legit, I know from literally eating the dish this past weekend, and by literally I mean the one on camera.
Goals
Been doing the pasta for years, and got it down to 10 mins. My tips:
1) Fill your kettle & boil.

They have someone who will follow you.

@@heshwuan noooooo, its a myth, the pasta will only stick together if you overcook them or let it dry for a hour
The water should be as salty as the sea!
Your little pep talk at the beginning made me feel better about my efforts 🥺
I proceeded to make your pasta with the ingredients in my fridge and enjoying a new pasta dish! Never had this creamy of pasta before. 😋
Thank you so much! 👩🏻🍳
Yes, sir. More of these. I like how authentic this video was. Reminds me of when I have to improvise when I can't find utensils. LOL
honestly, air fryer wings with flour just makes it soggier.
I totally agree with you, I never use flour on my wings because I love that crispy skin!
I love coating mine in oil and seasonings, then air frying them and tossing them in whatever sauce I feel like, normally butter and Louisiana hot sauce. Gloriously crispy, minimal effort, and SO good.
I'm a student, and I have a full package of cherry tomatoes that I hadn't done anything with all week, I'll have to hurry now not to lose them, so this has come at the perfect time!!
same!! Doing this tonight. Have cherry tomatoes in the fridge and didn't know what to do with it
@@samkc3423 it was super delicious!! Idk if it was the pasta water or what, but I loved it. Will definitely be buying cherry tomatoes instead of sauce when I crave pasta next time. Enjoy!
just shared this with my two daughters and my two daughters in-law...... Well done!!!
I just harvested a bunch of cherry tomatoes and was trying to figure out what to do with them. That pasta recipe was really good. I definitely will make it again!!
you can also make Feta Pasta!! Look up the recipe it’s so so so so good. I usually make it with shrimp too
I will put them on a sheet pan and season with herbs and oil and roast them in the oven, then toss them in whatever meals I make. 😋
I’m making the tomato sauce from the first clip. I’m waiting for the tomatoes to pop so I can smush and finish it off. It smells so freaking good. I can’t believe I’ve never made this or even seen this made before. I can not wait!
Edit: omg it’s so good thank you for this!
Yes !!! I’ve got so many cherry tomatoes from my yard that I need to use up . Thank you!!!
wow. life changing way to fry up those quesadillas.... that extra bit of oil makes them so crunchy and carmelized on the outside!! i used my carbon steel pan...and to die for. thank you so much.
I'm a uni student with not really much time to cook so I would love more of these vids!
An alternative for the pasta: use garlic (whole, uncut) and an anchovy, then add cherry tomatos and parley: very tasy and even easier. With fish I don't suggest to add cheese, but if you like do what you want. Anchovy are kinda strong, so you don't need anything else
I’ve been making a lot of “stir fry” style meals lately, this was a great source of inspiration to branch out with a quick meal. Thank you!
Please, more easy dinners! Made the stir Fry and it was so incredibly delicious! Keep the easy weeknight recipes coming!
Lol first thing i tried is stir fry only. Added more sauces as what i made was quite blunt :D
My Mama has always taught me to “clean while you cook”. I’m So Thankful For That💖
So excited about these quick dinners, now I have 4 meals scheduled for this week that are easy and tasty!!! Thank you!!
Dude seriously!
Absolutely!
I’m a wait and clean kinda cook because I’m always nervous to leave it alone lol
Same! I always clean as i go, the only thing i have to wash up after dinner are plates and cutlery. When i see people leaving everything in a pile near overflowing sink i get anxious.
I cook with my children and don't mind the mess at all. I excell in chaos :D
Much love 🙏
Your channel is changing my life! Started cooking at home recently for the first time and these recipes have been a lifesaver! 🤩
I love it. Even though I'm learning to enjoy cooking - it takes me ages to get it on the table. I'd love to see more of these 15 minute meals. 😁
Practice gets you there more confidently, I've been "confident" enough to forget a step/Ingredient a time or two lol, still...it's experience. I'm loving my food so much a restaurant meal is a disappointment now, so it's all about the engagement of the people I go with. 😁
You're bringing back memories of my Dad's land. It was fun to go outside to find eggs or pick thyme off of a plant.
This is sooooo helpful thank you for doing this. Please do more!!!!. I'm a music producer so I stay busy
and this helps when Im cooking for my family. I plan on making all of these dishes!!
I was a professional cook for years and i love you! You're my favorite and I tell all my friends about you. I dig your style. Thank you!!
I just made the cherry tomato pasta and it is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten! Thank you!
It's one of my faves too. If you want to make it even better try and find higher quality small tomatoes or some pecorino romano cheese and have it 50/50 with that and parmesan.
@@Cubeforc3 will try that next time, sounds delicious. Every component being high quality is important.
Make this often but with ample crushed red peppers.
The style of your quesadilla actually has a name of its own here in Mexico, it’s called sincronizada, although bacon is not often added, it looks delicious
Curious what about it makes it a sincronizada? The fillings or how it was kind of deep fried in the fat or what? Looks freaking delicious
That's so cool. It looked really really good too. Is it the fillings or the way it was cooked that give it the name?
I used to frequent a place with sincronizadas, so good
@@nikiTricoteuse lmao yes, we all want to know
According to Google; The main difference between the real quesadilla and the sincronizadas is the obligatory inclusion of ham in the dish and the main ingredient used to make the tortilla (wheat flour instead of corn flour,...)....
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sincronizada
Would love to know the back story behind the studio switch. Is this your home or a place you rent? Why leave the older spot, which seemed nice. What do you look for when choosing a new spot?
* A place with no utensils to taste the food! * 😂
Great recipes here and I found more at (a cookbook collector)
I would add one or two anchovies to the tomato sauce, and put them into the pan together with the onions. The anchovies will dissolve but they add a salty-umami tase which makes the marinara sauce taste even better.
YES
Oh yes! Couple of capers wouldn't be wrong either! 😁
healthy recipes in 1-2 minutes. this is only available on this channel,
For the stir-fried noodles, you can just as easily replace it with any kind of pasta and it will taste great too (obviously remember to boil it first!)
Return to hot pasta pan & pour the chilli/garlic oil through the pasta with lots of grated cheese (any).. . Takes ten minutes & is really tasty.
Bought ingredients for all these this week, started with the quesadillas and they were bangin! I also added a jalepeno to the green sauce. I def recommend making the sauce to go on it
