I have a fun road runner story. My grandparents lived in the Palm Desert area in CA in their motorhome. My kids and i spent alot of time with them. Anyway, they had a road runner that would come to their door and peck at the door until they opened it. He would come inside, get on the back of one of the chairs and wait to he fed. They fed him hamburger. He was a huge bird and my kids loved feeding him.

I live and grew up in Maine, and here our second homes are called camps. Usually it’s quite rustic, and I loved spending summers in ours in the mountains. We took a bath in the pond every night, and played games and learned to sew. Moose walked across our yard frequently, and occasionally you’d see a black bear. It is heaven ❤️ If you & Roger buy a “camp” here, I’ll show you you all of the best thrifting spots 😉
@redviperk2696 Yep... sad. There are companies that won't even insure homes/properties in Florida now! I own a home in FL with my erstwhile brother-in-law. He let the insurance policy lapse, and we can't even find a company that will underwrite it! Sucks.
Glasses with pictures on them were common when I was a child. Had lots of milk and juice in glasses like that. They often came in the grocery store with peanut butter or jelly in them, and our frugal mothers saved enough of them to serve the whole family!! Very vintage. I'm a bit older than you, Karen :) Love the enamel refrigerator box! I have a small collection of the glass ones, which I use. Don't like plastic. Cool Corvette!!
I would love to have a place in Astoria Oregon. 40 years born and raised in Cali, but now 14 years in Alabama. Love it here, but miss traveling thru Oregon and Washington.
I would buy a vacation home drivable from your house on a lake or beautifully spot. You could get away more often to enjoy and relax. But remember it is work to own a second home, maybe less owning a condo. Good Luck!
Yep! I remember a little Italian bistro from my younger years that used raffia covered chianti bottles as candle holders on all the tables... so nostalgic!
Any place I'd consider for vacation property would need to be a Winter haven with snow and skiing. I already own a place on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe and live on the western side of the Puget Sound (WA state). However, I love VT/NH/ME and several areas of both coasts of Canada. Love the tiny pictures, the worm waterer, the clam shell server, the toll painted wooden plate plus that store had so much great stuff! I currently have a large enamelware bread bin/lid for sale locally - really hope it sells soon. Can't remember where I saw it, but someone had made artichoke sculptures using mussel shells and they were really beautiful. I was impressed by the use of those particular shells. Hugs, Karen! Hope you have a beautiful week!
If I could have a vacation home anywhere it would be Western NC. We just live down near Charleston SC and when Helene came through I made the comment that I was tired of the hurricanes. Losing power for days and I wish we were in the mountains. My heart goes out to all there and I can't wait until they are ready to welcome us back.
Hello we just found your channel and enjoy watching. We started to dabble in buying and selling and still look for antiques for our home. We'll be watching and learning.
I can't imagine living anywhere other than where I live. My other favorite states (N.C. and FL) are no longer an option so I'll just stay here in the good old Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Sometimes we get a lot of snow and some years we don't but nothing catastrophic.
The etched wine glasses were sold at fast food restaurants in the late 90’s early 2000’s. I bought mine from Arby’s. I live in the mountains of Colorado at 9,000ft, I live full time in my vacation home 😊
I love Florida's panhandle. The white sugar sand & warm Emerald ocean. Destin and Pensacola are my favorite. You should buy a condo because they'd be no upkeep on your part & safer
Glasses with carriages on them say the 1950’s to me. Maybe a gift with a laundry detergent purchase. Or collected at the grocery store as a bonus for your food purchase. Pistol handled tableware was a hot style in the 70’s.
10:36 I absolutely love the pinecone pattern dishes! My mother had those exact dishes & I wish my sister hadn’t called dibs before I did, haha 😊 Edit 17:36 - oh my gosh, the pistol handle knives were my mother‘s silverware style as well. Wow, you brought back a lot of memories in this video for me. Thank you! ❤
Hi Karen, great video again, thank you. Regards vacation house...pick somewhere with temperate weather ie no snow and no super heat. Avoid areas that get hurricanes.....condo is best, lock up and forget...no gardening to keep up etc....happy hunting for a place. Just think of all the stuff you can thrift to decorate the place!!!
Nice enamel refrigerator box, etc. Putting together dishes with rotisserie chicken is wonderful...I do that sometimes to save time. It's still made with TLC!
Hi Karen it’s Karen lol (I go by Kay) Those two souvenirs you picked up I would have taken them to the front and asked could you get them for $4 total. I ask things like that all the time and I get a yes. Especially the amount of items we pick up all the time! ❤❤❤
Hi Karen, I know you love the beach and to swim in the ocean. My friend rents a condo in Indian Shores for a couple of weeks a year, which I think was hit hard by the hurricanes, but beautiful nevertheless. She loves the area and the beach especially. We’re in Canada, and we are attracted to the heat during the cold months. Good luck choosing! You work so hard, both of you, you deserve a place to escape to. 🇨🇦
Florida does have its beauty. I lived there for more years than I ever planned. I now live in Md. Good for you if you love it and your daughter's there so considering it makes sense. Living there year round, I simply could not bear the heat and humidity...and the bugs. But near the coast or a body of water in the winter...it's really nice. But if you ever seriously plan to buy, you gotta be mindful of the HURRICANE SEASON, and it really does make an appearance annually! Best wishes 😀with whatever you decide. 👍
Hi Karen, I was in Lancaster a few days ago with family. Did you ever go to the Country Gift & Thrift Shoppe on Old Philadelphia Pike? They have some lovely things there, I thought of you knowing you love thrifting.
The Pig made out of beans-- I think some child did a great craft!😉😉Some of the AVON items were made by high end Manufacturers but not marked by that maker. The B&G plates can be used for food and make the loveliest table settings. I am very sad you did not pick up that painted wooden plate. I would not buy in FL-- Hurricanes and insurance is way too high plus gators.
Good afternoon lady. Thanks for your nice videos. At my age , get another mortgage No thanks. 💸 I save my earning for my retirement or any emergency. I rent a small RV and cruise around the States. I have fun 👍🫶 God bless you two.🙏

My second home would be in Italy or near the Ocean of Delaware/Maryland or up in the Adirondack Mountains in NY. You mentioned in one video selling merch. You need a t-shirt that says; " Here's the conundrum"! I'd definitely buy!
I live in Illinois. In 2016, we bought a condo on the beach in Destin, FL. We renovated it and put it on the rental program, reserving a few weeks of the year for ourselves. In 2020, we were approached by an agent friend who wanted to show our place to a buyer. Given the uncertainty of everything going on at the time, we ended up accepting that buyers very good offer. We have regretted doing that ever since. If another opportunity like that came along, we would buy another place in Destin. By far, the prettiest beach I have ever seen.
I have several different tiles (not necessarily in a frame) that are decor in my home. My first exposure was to historic Pewabic Pottery in Detroit. Nature tends to be my favorite but liked the one you showed in your video.
I have been blessed to now live where we used to vacation,at the beach in California. If I could have a second home I would honestly choose Pensylvania . Those bowls at the end were really pretty. U inspired me to look for something similar when i thrift next! Ive been making a yummy thai style soup since it started getting colder
For the money invested in a home, the upkeep, the furnishings, de decorations, taxes and hassle factor, you could book some lovely hassle free vacations each year. A second home gets old really quickly. But these are just my thoughts. 😎
Edisto Island, South Carolina. Just many memories with my mom, dad and family. I lost my Daddy Momma and one brother and we were together there for many summers.
Yeah I can not get down to the bottom shelves either not the really tall ones... I also think people hide items on lower shelves teh really good stuff in hopes of getting the item when the color tag changes

Someone had a sense of humour with the piggy art 🖼️ lol. Pork and Beans 🫘 I don’t know what your budget is . But try Vancouver Island . That’s the “ Hawaii “ of Canada . Or the Pacific North West . Don’t get me wrong , Florida is beautiful , as I’ve spent some time down there . But the hurricanes … For a while I was considering moving to the Barbados . I lived there for 6 months when I was younger . But again … possible hurricanes . Vancouver Island however can get earthquakes … So I don’t know what to say .
