I have a fun road runner story. My grandparents lived in the Palm Desert area in CA in their motorhome. My kids and i spent alot of time with them. Anyway, they had a road runner that would come to their door and peck at the door until they opened it. He would come inside, get on the back of one of the chairs and wait to he fed. They fed him hamburger. He was a huge bird and my kids loved feeding him.

We say ready and the get up on their hind quarters like they are begging , I actually have one that I would say "wave" and he would stick his left hand up and wave it at me LOL I have that on video to prove it.. The squirrels last summer learned to knock on the side door one ven chewed the screen to get at the wood door so now I have to leave the screen oopen

I live and grew up in Maine, and here our second homes are called camps. Usually it’s quite rustic, and I loved spending summers in ours in the mountains. We took a bath in the pond every night, and played games and learned to sew. Moose walked across our yard frequently, and occasionally you’d see a black bear.
It is heaven ❤️ If you & Roger buy a “camp” here, I’ll show you you all of the best thrifting spots 😉

There are companies that won't even insure homes/properties in Florida now!
I own a home in FL with my erstwhile brother-in-law. He let the insurance policy lapse, and we can't even find a company that will underwrite it!
      Sucks.

Glasses with pictures on them were common when I was a child. Had lots of milk and juice in glasses like that. They often came in the grocery store with peanut butter or jelly in them, and our frugal mothers saved enough of them to serve the whole family!! Very vintage.
I'm a bit older than you, Karen :)

Any place I'd consider for vacation property would need to be a Winter haven with snow and skiing. I already own a place on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe and live on the western side of the Puget Sound (WA state). However, I love VT/NH/ME and several areas of both coasts of Canada. Love the tiny pictures, the worm waterer, the clam shell server, the toll painted wooden plate plus that store had so much great stuff! I currently have a large enamelware bread bin/lid for sale locally - really hope it sells soon.
Can't remember where I saw it, but someone had made artichoke sculptures using mussel shells and they were really beautiful. I was impressed by the use of those particular shells. Hugs, Karen! Hope you have a beautiful week!

Florida does have its beauty. I lived there for more years than I ever planned. I now live in Md. Good for you if you love it and your daughter's there so considering it makes sense. Living there year round, I simply could not bear the heat and humidity...and the bugs. But near the coast or a body of water in the winter...it's really nice. But if you ever seriously plan to buy, you gotta be mindful of the HURRICANE SEASON, and it really does make an appearance annually! Best wishes 😀with whatever you decide. 👍

In 2020, we were approached by an agent friend who wanted to show our place to a buyer. Given the uncertainty of everything going on at the time, we ended up accepting that buyers very good offer. We have regretted doing that ever since. If another opportunity like that came along, we would buy another place in Destin. By far, the prettiest beach I have ever seen.

You thrift stores have the best inventory and prices are 1/4 of what they are here and we don’t even have flea markets with vintage treasures. Oh yeah ,and I could visit my brother and his family too. 😂They just moved there. He went to Roots flea market last week and he called me telling me it was like nothing we have ever seen. Someone had a sense of humour with the piggy art 🖼️ lol. Pork and Beans 🫘
I don’t know what your budget is . But try Vancouver Island . That’s the “ Hawaii “ of Canada . Or the Pacific North West . Don’t get me wrong , Florida is beautiful , as I’ve spent some time down there . But the hurricanes …
For a while I was considering moving to the Barbados . I lived there for 6 months when I was younger . But again … possible hurricanes . Vancouver Island however can get earthquakes … So I don’t know what to say . Calgary , Alberta , we get tornados , floods , devastating hail storms , nasty cold weather … so no place is perfect .

Me, I'd want a place closer to the ocean. It's very relaxing to me, and I love how some days it's foggy. Hope you find what you're looking for. Hugs * L

As I live at the Jersey Shore and get to enjoy the beach anytime, I would love a cottage by a lake in NC or GA.

Watch you most often and recently heard you mention a 2nd home in FL. Try the space coast around New Smyrna, Port Orange. Very nice and safe!

Also, think of buying no further than a day's travel from your home. Poconos maybe

I live in SW Florida,if I could buy a 2nd home it would have to be in Maine where I have family. It would be great to escape the summer heat & hurricanes!

I love when you go down the rabbit hole. I collect Murano both bowls/vases and jewelry. You were correct on the blue decor piece. It looked like just glass. I live near Elizabethtown and go to the newer Goodwill on Cloverleaf Rd and 230. It seems to me that they raised the prices 👋💜

Since you're living in PA, FL is a nice place to head for a vacation. We've done it for years. But, everyone's different. Good luck on your search.

Karen - get some bar keeper's friend powder cleanser - it cleans anything from gray utensil marks on old dishes to metalware. It is great - non abrasive! Cheap!
