- Not a cover this time, but and attempt to remove that annoying filter, I am not an expert in color correcting and this is the best I could do. I hope you like and enjoy this memorable performance withouth that inverted color filter.
Chi play-through by David Silveria at Indigo Ranch studios.
Thanks to Kornmemorabilia.com for uploading all this valuable moments of Korn.

Ray is a solid, polished, technical drummer but Dave was just pure raw feels and grooves, nitty gritty full of flavor! He was such a part of their sound!
So fucking true
ray is the man but david definitely wins me over
Every drummer in the nu metal scene were trying to copy him. His fills, the way he tuned his snare, his beats and his style.
@@Ajox191 he influences me to this day on drums
That's what made him different
When Korn came out, make no mistake Silveria was a massive part of their sound and attraction. There wasn't a drummer like him, the drum sound, the grooves, the intricate fills and hi-hat/cymbal/midi work were insane! No doubt he inspired a shit ton of drummers.
David is the Reason I have been drumming for 30+ years.
Yep. Him and Dave grohl were my biggest influences to start. David’s piccolo popping snare and wicked ghost rolls were what got me playing heavier styles. The sound he has in the first 2 albums are just one of a kind
Amen, 8 years here. I had never heard a drummer that played so heavy but kept it just as groovy. I HAD to pick up the sticks after the self-titled album. Him and John Stanier of Helmet are the only two to directly influence me
30 years for me as well. David as my main influence.
Holy crap it has been 30 years since the debut album dropped and changed my ear for drums forever.
Samesies!
David Silveria you're one of the most underrated drummers ever!
50% of korn sound was david silveria. i miss the old korn
Ok, just it can't be 50, as Jonathan takes at least 50 :) I don't miss them too much. 'Cuz I listen to them every day =)
@@Kommaer you are right
Shut up
I don't miss the old Korn, but I do miss David. However, if David had stayed in the band, Korn might have dissolved by now
70% of Korn sound is Richard Kaplan, and another 30 - Ross Robinson.
Dude got that natural hard hitting funky groove . Killer drummer . Love the snare work too.
Him & John Otto really had something special going on around the turn of the century
One of the original heavy hitters with a deft touch and the technical nuances to boot. Incredible drummer and massive influence of mine in his prime.
@@Greatlakeskyle.I was just thinking that. He and John Otto had the groove.
Holy shit I dont remember Chi being this hard. David was a way better drummer than I remember.
Man, his drumming was so perfect for these songs. The first three albums of Korn truly were timeless. Most bands can’t hold it together beyond that.
Korn was no exception. Life Is Peachy was such a killer album
Silveria in his prime was something special.
David rocked the fuck out that piccolo snare!!
David was the groove machine behind early Korn
I've seen this video at least 50x and I hate the part that it inverts the color. Thanks, good work!!
Same here. Probably my most viewed UA-cam video!
It still inverts lol, this guy just inverted the inverted. 😅😂❤
Lets Just admit that without David there would have been no Korn! He was such a big part of their whole sound, First 3 albums are still the best Korn albums hands down! This dude inspired a generation of drummers including myself in the 90s and early 2000s then I got into more heavier technical stuff but Davids grooves were nothing to fck with back in those days!
The snare drum rolls are smoother than a Payne of glass.
Beating those cymbals like they owed him money! Just an amazing drummer in his prime. Ross really knew how to produce these guys and get the best out of them. In my mind he was almost a 5th member when it came to the original KoRn sound. After that it all just turned from ripping, powerfully raw emotion and palpable tension to watered down corporate pop rock. Those first couple of albums were just so dynamic and eerie - I never even done meth, but I could feel the paranoia of that shit oozing out of their music.
Korn already had 5 members. Ross would have been like a 6th member
amazing comment i agree
I've done meth, Korn is my favourite band
Yes ,thank you Ross Robinson was in his element when producing Korn albums . Although Follow the Leader was well produced , it really missed something characteristic of the band and they really f*cked it up not bringing him back for Issues imo
Poor cymbals 😢
David was light years ahead with his style and set up for 1996
Watching this... Makes me wish David would come back to KoRn so bad like goddamn bro
He can't or at least doesn't play like this anymore though. Sadly.
This is from 1996. He does not play even remotely like this now.
As much as I love Ray as a person , and how awesome of a drummer he is, korn lost something special when David was out
Ray doesn't touch this feel and groove on his best day!!
Respect for Ray he isn't a bad drummer but he is just too straight forward of a drummer for KoRn's sound. David was 10× better for them and they just need to let by gones be by gones and bring him back.
Ray can play circles around David, especially since David is retiring from music.
Can’t deny it. The man could groove.
He was an integral part of Korn's sound.
David is one of the most underrated drummer's ever, his drumming really shines on the first two albums.
Man I wish David would go back to KORN I love Ray but David really had that groove sound with his drumming skills that really gave Korn their signature sound
listen to anything he has done lately he cant do those grooves and hits anymore. its sad to think about and watch his decline.
@@mikabass yeah well he is getting old so I don't expect david to be able to play drums like he used to getting older does affect all in one way or another
He had the groove but David doesn’t hold a candle to his former self in any way now. His playing is stiff and uninspired. He started loosing it soon after his injury.
Joey Jordison would've actually been a really good fit for the band but who the hell knew that he was going to get canned from Slipknot just a few years later after he subbed in for Korn, Brooks Wackerman would've been legit as well. Ray Luzier is a great drummer and an awesome guy but i just cant get into his drumming for Korn especially on the older stuff. Alot of times Ray kills the groove on the older stuff by simplifying things up so he can focus on doing stick tricks instead. I hate when drummers do that
@@steviemac2377 yeah I can see where your coming from with Ray but you Know bands gotta do what they feel is best for them I mean as far as attitude and getting along with someone Ray is a perfect fit for Korn cause he's so laid back and seems really easy to get along with and that's what bands need besides skill level
I’ll be honest… when David left… I stopped listening to Korn…
Same.. the heart was ripped out of their sound for me.
So did I, I was wrong tho Ray is fucken amazing. Also dave sounds nothing like this now its pretty sad
Same ngl.
Same
Many of us did. I stopped after follow the leader came out. It felt like a parody or satire of the first record and that pissed me off. Korn was hella important to me as a kid, found them when I needed it. Was rough watching them sell out but I’m glad they are happy. Those first two albums are pure genius tho
one of my fav Korn songs off my fav Korn album. i had no idea the song was this busy on the drums! this tune is a monster!
David: Dookie booty, power, groove, execution, Ray: fills and speed. David wins hands down
Where has the time gone
Ray actually plays at a slower tempo compared to David. Watch the live shows. He plays here to stay at such a slow bpm, the entire energy is gone.
He wins by Booty alone 😂
Those cymbal hits 😵
Fantastic era for Korn back then, Silveria irreplaceable in my opinion
Shit makes me wanna crip walk! Nasty groove!
The original Korn drummer David Silveria 🤘🏻
Founding member of not just KoRn but L.A.P.D as well. L.A.P.D might not have been that great but that band helped to create KoRn and L.A.P.D got a small-time record deal too so that is saying something.
The soul of Korn
I love that this is THE take on the album! Dude was really on fire!
This man had a disease and drums was the cure.... played like it saved his whole life😂
Dave is such a bad ass drummer with his own style. Theres a video out there when he was a teenager ripping FAST death metal double bass
David was in the band L.A.P.D before KoRn with 2 other members from KoRn. They got a small-time record deal this was around like 1990-1991 I believe. L.A.P.D wasn't bad but their singer was pretty awful unfortunately!
Playin with 2 hi hats,in those years,GENIUS.
I think Charlie of Anthrax had been doing the same since at least 1984
Putin said he would stop his invasion and even help Ukraine rebuild if KoRn would accept David back into the band
Please on both fronts!
Que cosa tan mas chingona!!! Desde que salio silveria korn ya nunca fue lo mismo!🤟🇲🇽
Legends, miss this stuff
David is a most underrated drummer, pure groove and clever
Watching David back in these days brings a smile because when you see him now all thick and bloated and discouraged it just makes me sad. Even when you listen to David's newband it doesn't have that Passion or even half the energy of this...
People get old, dude. The same will happen to you.
That tom roll is one of the coolest I've ever heard. Classic like In The Air Tongiht (Collins)and Jump (VH). Dave killed it. Love this.
always loved his drums..
David is one of the my fav all time drummers. He took Korn’s sound with him IMHO. Wouldn’t listen to Korn now if you paid me.
This is insanely good drumming.
Nice to hear what he's actually playing. He had a very unique style.
I remember J.D dissed David's drum style once I think it was because he thought David overused his cymbals or whatever. I'd love to see them reunite but I think they have let their egos get in the way. I miss David, honestly, I just wish he was an active musician again and just toured with bands, did interviews, interacted with fans it doesn't even have to be KoRn I just want to see David out there doing his thing! Sad part is David is probably too talented to play with most bands, he needs to play with a band like KoRn where he can truly utilize his talents.
We need Dave back for one more album. Need those grooves back man. Never realized how good his drums are by themselves and how much more there is to it too. Miss that dude he was great
Sadly he lost his skill :(
@@jimbowjonez prolly because hes freakin huge now lol he looks like hes on the juice
@@jimbowjonez No he didn't he is the youngest member of the band and he sounded great in his most recent band he played in.
One take drumming. Oldschoolskill.
Unbeatable.
Album=Liveperformance
Huge Korn fan to this day but man I miss Dave behind the kit… nothing against Ray but Dave’s groove and how well his play style meshed with the other members own unique sound was just unmatched.
to be fair though, his drumming seems to have gotten a lot worse over the years. Listen to the other bands he joined after Korn, the drumming is a lot more simple and boring.
@@JamesGames101because of wrist injuries… he use to go hard as fuck back in the day.
@@pabloenrikay But even back before leaving Korn his drumming seemed to suffer. When watching live shows I see a lot more mistakes in the post issues era live shows, and considering Davies took over drumming for a lot of studio work (Silveria seems to claim this was due to not wanting to work in the way they were going, but it doesn't create the best look to just go "fuck it then, i'm not gonna drum, you do it so I can make fun of you for it on facebook years later")
@@JamesGames101 he suffered from these injuries even back then, early Korn.. just got worse after follow the leader
I think Ray knows this too, he knows that Silveria is a few steps over him and that him coming into the band changed them. He, as an honest drummer, has to know this by playing Silveria's songs and seeing what he has added can only be seen by an honest drummer. Obviously Korn being the professionals that they are sees this as well, you can't help but see it.
Потрясающе!
All the groove and innovation that Korn lost without David behind the kit
Damn he was rockin tf out🤘🏼
Been listening to korn since the second album came out. First time listening to this gem being recorded. Shit thats fresh.
Dave was a groove Master and Jesus this kit needs paramedics after this session 😳
i've been thinking about doing this for ages, thank you!!
Thank you soooo much! Back then, as Ross Robinson said recently, they PLAYED AS ONE! So much POWER!
Could you please do this for other videos from this time period? I don't know who was filming (HamCam or KareBear), but they just couldn't get over the built in effects of a new video camera in 1996 LOL
So sick!!!!!!! First 3 albums Korn, especially first 2 albums Korn will always be my all time heroes! Epitome of cool! Innovators! Super talented. Having fun! 🔥 They push me to keep following my joy of playing music. David is a massive influence on me. I picked up sticks because of him. Historic video! Thank you for editing it without the filter!
Finally without colors inverted 🎉
Great work, thanks. David is a PHENOMENAL drummer, I knew that when I was kid with 0 musicality, and can appreciate it so much now. Show this video to your drummer friends, definitely something to strive for rhythm-wise.
David, apart from his way of playing and the fact that he gave soul to the rhythmic part of Korn, was beautiful! A Tama drum kit with beautiful colors, the sound was great with those powerful Paiste cymbals I think
Such a dope video. He’s so underrated and creative.
Wow. I had no idea how great the drums were on this track. Unbelievable. So much detail I never heard.
This is great! Colour change always annoyed me. Such a unique player, I prefer David over Ray
What an amazing drums!
Dave was for sure the backbone of Korn
I kinda feel like when Korn lost Silveria, they lost a huge part of their kinda eerie Korn conventional sound with the commonly used (touchy) snare rolls. While Luzier is ok, it isn't what Korn was, and in fact I would say that there is nothing special about him that makes him stand out from the casual everyday drummer. You could hear him in any band and not be able to name him, while Silva has a very distinct sound that is peculiar to just him and stands out to where when you hear him you'll know that that is him.
Silveria had a unique sound that they lost with him and Luzier made them sound more commercial, sadly. Silveria gave them a more unique garage, underground sound and it is amazing how much you can change a band just by changing the musician for an instrument that is not super easy to be known for a peculiar style. Say like a guitar where you don't necessarily have to be super good to have your own style that is known, understood and noticeable. Also the style and energy that Silveria brought to the band I feel like was lost with Luzier. With that being said who knows what direction Korn would have taken with Silveria vs Luzier. TRUTH.
So good!!! Bring him back!
KoRn is these five guys and the first four albums. Everything after that is just bonus material
Korn lost its magic when David left. I as a drummer myself was totally influenced by him like no other drummer. He made a huge impact on me and my style of playing. When he left it was never the same. Ray is an awesome drummer don’t get me wrong. But David was Korn along with the others. It’s a shame once in a while there is a band that’s different than any other like it’s kind the conditions are just right to make that perfect bowl of soup but never the same when the spice is taken out, personally it has lost its flavor
What many may have forgotten, he was 15 when he joined 'Love and Peace Dude' and was maybe 17 at the oldest here. Hes a metal fucking BABY 😂
David quando era novo tocava muito, tá louco. Saudades dessa época.
these new metal drummers had the chops eeven metalcore drummers of today cant get to.
Cause Metalcore is for nerds who think they’re edgy.
wow haha finally somebody did it!! thank you!
Esto si que era el sonido korn y no el batería virtuoso super cool de ahora
Thanks for this!
My favorite Drummer
Was a real treat to be a fan during the 90s. Post 2000 korn got way more "Gothic"
David You are Korn!
I instantly hear where Joey Jordisson took his inspiration from. David Silveria inspired him a lot!
What a fking beast man, incredible!
His sticks are huge! Niw wonder he mest up his hands. Jonathan even said they were like Lincoln logs.
One of the most LIVE sounding studio recordings ever. Listen to the guitars at the end of the song. You can hear their amps or pedals are malfunctioning.
THANK YOUUUU!!
That verse beat 🤩🤩
Thank you very much! Would you do this on all rare footages from Korn? :)
I just hope Ray brings that kind of drumming into the new album. He has the skill, but the only taste we had of that was on Remember Who You Are.
Cuándo dijeron que Eloy Casagrande es una bestia en la batería por su energía siempre sostuve que antes estuvo Silveria.
This man.... Whoa! 🖤
Выдающаяся барабанная партия!
The ghost nooooottteeessss
Original Korn sound
Thanks... I'm from the time era and I always hated that stuff.. thank you!!
I don't really like Korn, but this guy is underrated- he'd have been good with stuff ranging from like Steve Vai to Primus to weird jazz stuff- because he's carrying this stuff
The best forever💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯♥️
0:58 is that Adam Jones from Tool doing some camera work? I wouldn't really be surprised if it was - what with his background in film.
Thank you for removing that anoying color invertion. I dont know how anyone would think that was cool. Well its the 90's 😂
KING
Also, would love to hear a remix of that drum track. Honestly feel like the 808 shots David played weren't present in the cd release of the track.
Thank you
Fucking great groovy drummer. Shame he was not in the band anymore
