You have to remember that drum kit was made for like 3 year olds. They had to build it tough so the little kids didnt rip through the drum heads or get stabbed by the cymbal stands

Mike is such a lovely guy and is really into helping up and coming drummers. i work FOH sound engineer, working the festival circuit here in america and then australia , uk, germany circuits , and have had the opportunity to meet him. i am also female and a drummer, the whole time i spoke to him, he wanted to here about me and how i have worked my way through a very male oriented profession. i had a heap of questions i wanted to ask him about his life and he just wasn't interested at all , no massive ego which is rare these days ! i got a free drum lesson as well, not on the kit but talking about the kit and he is the most knowledgeable drummer i have ever met.

Such an awesome guy. I was fortunate enough to go and meet the guys and walk to the stage with them when they played here in Southampton. I remember Portnoy telling me he was practically addicted to Irn Bru when I asked what was in the massive cup he had with him. Very down to earth guy.
