IF *Scientology* IS a "religion", then why do they *REQUIRE* you to sign a lifelong contract? Sounds more like servitude or something. They don't exactly have "Sunday church services."
I hate scientology just as much as the next person, but saying it isnt a religion because they dont have sunday church is silly. The only religion that does that is Christianity. Are you saying Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism are not religions either? Find a better argument because there are plenty of better ones than this.
It's a religion, because it's a group of people united by their share beliefs in some form of higher power. Whether or not it looks like what you consider normal is irrelevant. All religions are weird to outsiders in one way or another. I don't agree with Scientology, but someone's right to believe what they want is something I strongly agree with.
Crispins interview reminded me of the stunts Andy Kaufman would do..... Is it Crispins fault the world has narrowed its view on what they think is funny?
Dick Cavett knows his stuff. You ever see his interview with the Green Beret killer? That scumbag was acting like he just released a hit movie instead of like a grieving husband and father "desperate" to find the killers.
I began appreciating Tom Cruise in one of his early films, All the Right Moves. But his sudden pursuit of Scientology, due to his first wife's influence, has sickened me. I had hoped he was smarter than that. But I continue to watch his movies, such as Collateral, in which Cruise played a villain.

Morton Downey Jr was a complete ass to his guests. I don't think I would have handled myself with as much as Seka did. From his smugness, to his ridiculous cigars, everything about him was annoying. He ended up dying of lunv cancer from his smoking so I guess everything worked out in the end.
I watched that episode, where Rosie O'Donnell and Tom Selleck had their discussion. I applaud Selleck's handling of everything. He could have gotten rude or even crass, but he was very polite.
I went and watched the full interview after this video I don't get why she brought that subject up in the first place considering he wasn't even there to talk about that he was there to talk about his new movie and she should have just stuck to talking about that because there was just no need for her to start bullying him like that but Tom being the gentleman he is handled the situation very graciously

I'm kinda surprised you didn't mention the Jenny Jones show that had a man telling another man that he had a crush on him that led to the man who the crush was about killing the man that had the crush.
The Morton Downey show was pure trash. They manufactured full blown physical fights out of issues that weren't all that controversial. It quickly became tiresome.
Frankly as someone with Depression and Anxiety, it bothers me when people like Tom Cruise think that others should not have medication and therapy. My treatment is no one's business. It doesn't hurt or cause pain to anyone else. Meds are there for a reason to stabilize our moods and clear our heads. True there are some who have real reasons to not take meds but others do. Treatment is not a one size fits all thing. Physical illnesses aren't minmized or misdiagnosed by people with no experience. Someone with a broken leg is not told to pray the pain away. Someone with cancer isn't told that their problem isn't important and they just need to think positive. People with heart or respiratory problems aren't told that they don't need to see a professional. Everyday people with mental illnesses are told that. The i only time that mental health becomes an issue to many who don't have them is to deflect from other issues like gun control. As though the worst case scenario is the only example of people who need psychiatric help but not those with every day problems. We are often considered weak, entitled, and part of a lazy generation instead of a person who just needs help.
Dr's are sending chronic pain patients to therapy to meditate the pain away. If you look up how pain is being treated the thought is we can control our pain with meditation. It's stupid. I agree to a point that medications can be overused, but just like depression, anxiety, and other issues, we can't just make them go away. I hope you're doing well and have a blessed day.
As a gay man I applaud Hall. They weren't activist they were just pissy cry babies. Hall was absolutely right, maybe his guest didn't want people to know their sexuality. Idk Hall so I can't say if he is homophobic or not but I highly doubt he is.
Since they ended with Geraldo Rivera, so I want to mention an episode of his, one of the funniest, not violent, or cringy or anything like that. I don't remember who the guest was, or what they were discussing, but I think Geraldo was getting on his case a little bit. Anyway, the guest was talking away, "and blah, blah, blah, almost like Al Capone"......... and then he pauses for a second or two, and points towards Geraldo, and goes, "Geraldo, YOU remember Al Capone, don't you?"! The audience just erupted in roars of laughter. Geraldo tried to formulate a comeback, but couldn't, and finally had to break for a commercial.🤣
Once I saw the Tom Cruise and Matt Lauer clip, I went "there ya go!" I would have been incredibly surprised if that one wasn't on the list. Yet it made my skin crawl all over again! Perfect choice for this list imo.
I was very young when his show was on but he always seemed like one of those hypothetical men who would vilify a woman for how she is dressed in public but assault her in private. I don't know if he did or not but he just seems like that kind of moral crusader on the outside but sleazy perv on the inside.
Yeah. Apparently he became nicer when he was dying of lung cancer. I also read that he blamed "Big Tobacco" for not warning him of the dangers of chain-smoking. Loser.
Matt Lauer VS Tom Cruise: I have never been a Lauer fan. Not because of his sexual harassment of women - I didn’t like him years before that became known. He was just too full of himself. That being said, Lauer did the best job of going up against the nut job known as Tom Cruise. Although that interview did not make me “Team Lauer”, I respected him for his questioning of a person, who I still feel is dangerous to anyone that is dealing with a mental illness. Cruise went from “not agreeing with” psychiatry, to being an expert in the field because he studied the history of psychiatry. With that logic, everyone is an expert on many subjects. Cruise is a poster child of proof that mental illness is a very real thing. I am a person who has been diagnosed with mental health issues. And yes I do take medication to help me level out the symptoms. For the first 28 years of my life, I was miserable every day of my life. I tried or considered [S] more often than not. Once I was diagnosed, went to therapy for about a year and started taking medication, my life totally changed. I never knew what real happiness was until that day. If I had not received help I truly believe that I would not be here today. This is why I say that Cruise is dangerous. He has every right to have an opinion. But he has no right to speak out against it like he did with that interview. I think he is one of the worst people ever. Since I saw the interview, I refuse to do, buy, etc. anything that could possibly put money in his pocket. And Scientology? It’s a tax free cult!!! I know that because I’ve studied the history of it. 😱

I used to watch Ellen then I learned more and realized that she constantly pushed others like she did with Mariah Carey to disclose highly personal info so quit watching her, it’s one thing to try to get new info but not something like that.
Arsenio Hall needed more time on this list. Some of the absolute craziest interviews I've seen happened on that show. He brought Madonna's actual father on the show without her knowing, and she was very upset. He interviewed Paula Abdul after they had a bad brake up and she went off the hook during that interview. That man was the craziest talk show host I've ever seen, and we loved it.
Arsenio's actions were understandable; his guests appeared on his show to promote their work, not discuss their sexuality. There was no reason to accuse him of being homophobic when there was absolutely nothing to back up that claim. As far as what Ellen did to Mariah, that was just plain cruel.
@@HenryM-v6d Yes, he did and mentioned that to the protesters. I was around back then and I remember the stigma around homosexuality of that time. It's great that people are generally more accepting of it now and that people feel more comfortable being open about it; however, some people just don't feel the need to discuss their sexuality with others. Either way, people should be respected for who they are. The protesters were completely out of line with Arsenio and to accuse him of being homophobic with nothing to back up their claims was ridiculous, so I don't fault Arsenio for reacting the way that he did.

Gore was golden. That was the battle of the brains and he won, without a rise in blood pressure. That's when we all started reading Gore Vidal books, just watching him go. Um I also remember the Arsenio Hall show, that was so wrong, because he always was thoughtful of his guests, and even his jokes he had a thing about never attack the person. Events are fair game, but never the person. That was an era when you couldn't just come out. Stonewall had happened like 19 years before, but that effect was only to make it illegal to assault someone for being gay. Imagine that. Not going to want to run out and tell the world yet. It wasn't just a preference, he was responsible for people's lives. So if they didn't want to talk about it, they didn't talk about it. I would say Queer Nation was out of line. I've always thought she was a DeGenerette. That's what I call her. Never understood how she was still on TV. Her and Oprah too.
I hate Ellen sooooo much. She’s just so full of herself.
I've been saying that about Ellen from the beginning but no one believed me! Everyone around me bought her "nice" & "generous" act.
I saw that she was petty, impatient, greedy, spiteful & downright mean. There were cracks in the bs. You would see it in her face or hear it in her tone or choice of words. It was in her body language it was hidden behind the dancing, it was meant to be overlooked during the give-aways & the games, but those just made it easier to see. I'm glad someone finally broke the silence. I don't like it when ppl believe they are entitled to treat others like they are worthless. True colours showing now!
@@xenonfinity1984 absolutely. I remember when I was in college this kid was on Ellen and he talked about how she was so different behind the scenes and I always kind of suspected it. It was really her mannerisms and how she always wanted to be the one making jokes or getting the last word in on her show.
She was kind of like Oprah, except Oprah has such a far reach and has been in the spotlight for so long. I’ve read some horror stories about her as well.

It's literally a cult.
It's a cult.
You’re misinformed.
Crispin Glover was clearly ahead of his time given all the crap Sacha Baron Cohen got away with.
I was watching when he did that. I figured it was staged or he was having a manic episode.

Comparing Jerry Springer to Morton Downey Jr. is an insult to Jerry Springer. Their shows maybe similar but their characters are completely different.
100%. Both shows had trashy guests, but only one had a trashy host.
Dick Cavett handled that confrontation like a boss....
Dick Cavett knows his stuff. You ever see his interview with the Green Beret killer? That scumbag was acting like he just released a hit movie instead of like a grieving husband and father "desperate" to find the killers.

That fixed intense look on his face as he on his rant about what he's been reading was scary.
Hes insane now
@bdbeaudette - I agree with you on what Scientology has done to people, but so has been mental illness as well.
It didn't take much though did it?
I began appreciating Tom Cruise in one of his early films, All the Right Moves. But his sudden pursuit of Scientology, due to his first wife's influence, has sickened me. I had hoped he was smarter than that. But I continue to watch his movies, such as Collateral, in which Cruise played a villain.
The late great Luther Vandross was a frequent guest on that show. When he died the world lost his golden voice. They were pals. Luther and Arsenio.

Yeah I loved watching Arsenio because it was fresh and new..He brought guests on,that we actually wanted to see. Luther was on alot,my grandma loved him. 🙏❤️💯
Morton Downey Jr was so full of shit and his “talk show” was a dumpster fire.
It's good he's gone. Unfortunately, his talk show style has been emulated.
That's true but unfortunately his show brought high enough ratings that talk shows after his emulated his "style", which led to those shows becoming dumpster fires.

Tom cruise is too annoying. Cant stand people that think they know EVERYTHING just because they have a strong view on some things
The i
only time that mental health becomes an issue to many who don't have them is to deflect from other issues like gun control. As though the worst case scenario is the only example of people who need psychiatric help but not those with every day problems. We are often considered weak, entitled, and part of a lazy generation instead of a person who just needs help.
he's sort of a nutty buddy so I would generally not take seriously anything he has to say.

Morton Downey jr was a sad excuse for a human being. The way he self righteously attacked these women was just embarrassing… for HIM
I was very young when his show was on but he always seemed like one of those hypothetical men who would vilify a woman for how she is dressed in public but assault her in private.

@@CrystalMiller-q2w What made you think that way about whether or not they were women? That is so pathetic!
Tom my dear , you just chose another cult and in this cult, you’re a king. Not one interview did you ever make sense.
Ellen should ever bring up something personal
Never not ever.
Matt Lauer VS Tom Cruise:
I have never been a Lauer fan.
Ellen was wrong to do that. The way she acts funny to cover up her blatant rudeness disgusts me and always had.

Arsenio stood on it in the early 90's.📺🗣️💯
It’s sad that I can tell which way you lean politically by watching this
Arsenio Hall needed more time on this list.
There weren't too many openly outed gay performers at the top of pop-culture at that time. Arsenio DID have Elton John as a guest.
