  • My first experience of wild camping with the most amazing sunset I’ve ever seen. Fantastic experience which included a walk via Merrivale Stone Rows and circle, Great Staple Tor, Roos Tor, Stephen’s Grave, White Tor and Great Mis Tor to pitch the tent for an evening of wild camping. Loved it so much and looking forward to my next opportunity to get back out again.
    Equipment used were…
    Naturehike Could-Up 2 ultralight tent
    Trekology camping mat
    Hikenture camping pillow
    Sunmer portable camping chair
    OEX 3 season sleeping bag

What a refreshing video! Your smile and excitement summed up how I feel about being on Dartmoor, it truly is a special place to be. The sunsets, the sunrises, the wind, the mist, the rain and the wildlife are definitely healing. I'm fairly new to wild camping, and you learn something new every time you do it. Good to see you doing the right thing with the sheep. I had similar experience a few weeks ago walking out from Belstone towards Oke Tor. I discovered a very young foal completely alone, looking very sad. I couldn't see any other ponies anywhere. I couldn't leave it there, so I decided to usher it back down towards Belstone. I talked to it, and touched it and kept saying, "come on let's go find your mum". I walked in front of it, and it followed my every footstep, every now and again it's nose bumping into my rucsack. After a mile, I noticed some ponies grazing in the distance. I was hoping one of them would be mum. What a feeling it was when it turned out that it was mum, and the foal was reunited and wasted no time in feeding. I bid my farewells, turned around and headed off for a brilliant night on the moor. It's magical moments like that which makes me appreciate the part we play in life and nature. You can't buy that on Amazon!
Carry on with your adventures, I will subscribe to your channel. "Carry on Camping!" Simon, Somerset.

Hi Graeme, just recently came across your channel and have been catching up! Love your mix of Dartmoor runs, swims and wild camps😊. Not sure where you get your energy from but fair play, I think I’d break an ankle running on the moors😅! Nice job coming to the rescue of those sheep. I learnt something from that so thank you! You picked a fab tor in Great Mis to camp at, did you go up and see the stone basin on top? Love your enthusiasm and that you’re always smiling! ATB, Pete

Hi Pete, thank you very much for your kind comments, Dartmoor is such an amazing place to explore etc. Yes, I found the basin on Great Mis Tor some time ago, but I remember it took me ages to actually locate it 😂 I think Great Mis Tor has to be at the top of the list of my favourites 😁😁😁

Well done. There's something magical about a solo camp on Dartmoor, I love it. When I'm running I wish I was walking so I have more time to take it all in and relax but when I'm walking I wish I was running so I can see more and get places faster 😂. I'm never happy me 😉.

I know what you mean 😂 At times it felt odd that I wasn’t running but also felt soooo good that I could take more in while walking. I loved the camping so much more than I anticipated, can’t wait to get back out again now 😁😁😁

Lovely video! Great to hear about the Dartmoor Livestock Protection Society too as I wouldn't have known who to call in that situation.
