@@CaptMattBudd I'm sure you think that it's real clever to respond like that, but if you like fishing it's pretty fucking critical that you don't do anything that endangers vulnerable species. This shit isn't a joke. And frankly it's sad that the only way you can appreciate the natural world is in a life and death struggle of physical strength. Get a therapist.
Every fish I intend to release swims away just fine. What do you do for a living? For the last 20 years of my life fishing has paid my bills and will continue to. I think I'm about as qualified as any to make judgments on whether it's ethically ok to catch a fish 🙏
@@CaptMattBudd What I do for a living isn't relevant but it doesn't involve killing things, I'll say that much. I defer to the experts (that means scientists and their work) and studies indicate many fish caught and then released will die or have their life cycles impacted. Here are just a couple: www.nesportsman.com/articles/catch_release_studies/oklahoma_largemouth.html www.outsidebozeman.com/magazine/archives/spring-2016/fish-out-water I'm sure it sucks to hear things like this, but I didn't make it up. It's true. As a career fisherman it is your responsibility to know about the species of sharks and fish in the areas you fish and know about their conservation status. If they are vulnerable or endangered you should not catch them even if you intend to release them. Not if you want to still have Goliath Groupers and other species like them in 20 or 30 years.
I looked up the fishing regulations and, apparently, it is legal to catch Goliath Groupers as long as they are released and not harmed. However, it is difficult to see how having a large hook in the mouth is not harm. Also the fish is exhausted after the long fight and may become prey to a shark. Once the fish is released you don't know what happened to it. So there is no way to know if it was harmed or not. The bottom line is that these fish are being endangered for the amusement of line fishing. You should take up scuba diving. Perhaps it would change your perception of sea life and you might see them for their beauty rather than "game fish".
Pulling them up from the depth will harm them. When you do this just for kicks it is difficult to see it as nothing less than cruel. So many people out there that ruin the sport for others.
@@jewfedmuzik Thanks for the laugh. I guess 'Depth' was based on my thoughts of scuba diving. You normally go between 30-60 feet. 130 is considered standard depth limit for recreational diving. I never considered your idea of " mostly on the top of the water". Wait a minute... can the fish swim on top of the water or would that be considered being in the air? Either way, Thanks again for the laughs.
@@ThePackratg haha. Omg. That is funny! Well shoot, you just made me laugh right back with that great question about the fish being on the top of the water. @Neito Kradavish its not pathetic to think stressing out an animal for fun is a bad thing. I don't have a problem with it personally but you are quite stupid to say that's not a valid feeling to have just because you disagree.
My fishing equipment consists of a very small net stuck on the end of a thin bamboo cane. I once caught a stickleback and a waterboatman with the same sweep of the net, what a struggle nearly had my arms wrenched from there sockets when the stickleback kicked with his tail, but in the end I eventually got him into my jam jar must have been at least 3 inches long give or take a foot.
So how did you release the giant grouper that swallowed the hook? I don't get the sport in catching an ancient fish bigger than anyone would want to eat.
It had the hook just inside the roof of its mouth not it's stomach and it's not safe to put your hands in there so the line was cut and the fish swam away fine. The hook will rust out in no time.
why do you have to torment these fish like that! When the hammerhead shark was there, you should have jumped into the water. Then that would have become a good video
why don't they have tournaments for stupid freaking idiots like you so we can stick your ass on the line to feed them! asshole these damn Fish protectived and hardly any left
He says,"Notice that I'm not wrapping the rope around my hand." But yet he does it. DO NOT WRAP THE ROPE AROUND YOUR HAND! YOU WILL GET PULLED OVER BOARD! Fishing for fish this BIG, all alone is not a good idea!
That’s not true, Jeremy wade explained it pretty well, if you wrap going in the same direction as the line and the fish pulls hard, all you do is release the line and all of it goes off of your hand. You are correct though if you wrap it in the opposite direction, it will get caught and pull you in
Wow had lining for those fish is crazy - can you imagine if the rope caught around his feet or hands - you could get pulled in and easily down. Wild stuff !😅

Catch n release...much respect! And tip my hat to y’all good lord!!
🙏
I've never seen such thick fishing line before. Those groupers must be heavy.
As much as I love the ocean and I love to swim, I always remember that it's very dangerous. When ever I visit my country Haiti / Dominican Republic I see a lot of Hammer Head sharks when we go fishing.
The bmkst dangerous, shark in the world is the bull shark it ll attack anything that moves n hundreds of em in Aus, Waters,? They'll swim up fresh water rivers same as, the saltwater Crocodiles
@@jeremygreen2198 true. I'd rather be in the water with a great white than a bull shark. People who say you have a greater chance of being killed by a vending machine than a shark can go swim in shark infested waters while I hang out with the vending machines. Then let's see what happens.
@@nebula1924 💯
I was thinking a windlass would assist bring it up and control the run.beautiful fish.
Great idea 👍
What a stupid thing to say...Windlass ?? Why not get a hydrolic machine to make it really easy Durr !!
Ironically, Groupers are 1st cousin to the fresh water Large Mouth Bass.
TheBrismoore Looking at the *SIZE* of the Grouper’s mouth, I believe you 100%!*
You dont say...... Damn. Learn something different every day.
Than who is the aunt and uncle. You know in taxonomy you shouldn't take the term Family literally
Yeah but by marriage so it doesn't count
Given that the Goliath Grouper is endangered and that even released fish often die from the exhaustion, maybe don't fucking catch them.
With all this knowledge maybe you should start a youtube channel?!
Here are just a couple: www.nesportsman.com/articles/catch_release_studies/oklahoma_largemouth.html

I'm sure it sucks to hear things like this, but I didn't make it up.
Did you get your 20-0 hook?
Negative
Blackie Reasor caught a 14'4" Hammer off the Jacksonville Beach Pier, I was surfing at the pier that day, big fish....
Your bait is biger than any fish ive ever cought biger then the time i cought a 4lb bainbow
Dude holding the rope looks like he got his hair cut in a pet shop!
OMG! That looks like a great time! I've got to try this.
So would you be pissed someone stuck a hook in your gob mate.
@@ThePackratg they dont come from the depths usually.. they are mostly on the top of the water under the boat n shit bro
@@jewfedmuzik Thanks for the laugh. I guess 'Depth' was based on my thoughts of scuba diving. You normally go between 30-60 feet. 130 is considered standard depth limit for recreational diving. I never considered your idea of
" mostly on the top of the water". Wait a minute... can the fish swim on top of the water or would that be considered being in the air? Either way, Thanks again for the laughs.
@@ThePackratg haha. Omg. That is funny! Well shoot, you just made me laugh right back with that great question about the fish being on the top of the water. I've never even thought about it that way but now everytime me or anyone else says that, I'm gonna say what you just said and I'm sure it'll get laughs. Lol.
Anyway, so thank you right back!
✌
This is risky because he almost got his hand tangled on the rope and could had been pulled down into the water and drawn.
Survival of the fittest 🤔
So how did you release the giant grouper that swallowed the hook? I don't get the sport in catching an ancient fish bigger than anyone would want to eat.
Wonder how many times thease fish are caught before they starve for fear of eating
So what happened to the grouper that swallowed the hook.?
It had the hook just inside the roof of its mouth not it's stomach and it's not safe to put your hands in there so the line was cut and the fish swam away fine. The hook will rust out in no time.
why do you have to torment these fish like that! When the hammerhead shark was there, you should have jumped into the water. Then that would have become a good video
why don't they have tournaments for stupid freaking idiots like you so we can stick your ass on the line to feed them! asshole these damn Fish protectived and hardly any left
@Nill Gddy Why do decent people always get labeled as snowflake? Don't want to be cruel? Don't want to cause harm? Snowflake.
@Nill Gddy thank you.
@@rhondahunt8080 then do your part.. Don't fish.
@@captainde2 I don't
That Goliath is beautiful!
👍
He says,"Notice that I'm not wrapping the rope around my hand." But yet he does it. DO NOT WRAP THE ROPE AROUND YOUR HAND! YOU WILL GET PULLED OVER BOARD! Fishing for fish this BIG, all alone is not a good idea!
That’s not true, Jeremy wade explained it pretty well, if you wrap going in the same direction as the line and the fish pulls hard, all you do is release the line and all of it goes off of your hand.
You are correct though if you wrap it in the opposite direction, it will get caught and pull you in
This was incredibly satisfying to watch
Wow great catch 🤗👍
Very glad to see this was all catch and release.
Catch and release - well done guys.🙂
Wow had lining for those fish is crazy - can you imagine if the rope caught around his feet or hands - you could get pulled in and easily down. Wild stuff !😅

Not fish as big as Goliath Grouper. They scare the sharks!
