A brave team of divers performed an incredible rescue of a whale shark that had become caught in a piece of rope.
In December 2019, divers from Macana Maldives tour agency, Simone Musumeci and Antonio Di Franca were taking some clients on a guided dive in the island of Fuvahmulah, Maldives, when they spotted something extraordinary.
A huge whale shark was cruising the water around their boat with a thick rope tied around its body, between its head and its pectoral fins.
Simone said: “While the divers were slowly getting back on the boat, our guide Gianluca, who was on board, shouted ‘whale shark!’.

These people are the real heroes for those poor creatures without a voice. Much love and respect for them.

What a beautiful sight to see that whale shark drift away FREE from any entanglements. Great job, guys!!
Also a beautiful sight to see people who care to help🤗

For us
My brother saw a whale shark once when he was fishing. When he got back to the dock an older fisherman told him they’re very rare to see and considered good luck if you see one. So I guess this blessing went both ways. Thanks for being brave enough not to give up on saving it. You all set a place in heaven that day.
@Grim Reaper there's no heaven just saying

Chilling. As a diver for many years, I always hoped I might share in an experience like this - never happened. God bless these guys. The shark new - I guarantee.
Смотришь и такое напряжение,так хочется помочь.Хорошо,что есть такие люди,которые помогают животным.

I haven't read all the remarks, but I have high respect for these divers risking a dive injury as you can see they stay with this beautiful whale shark despite it's rapid change of depth.
Exactly I almost held my breath for a second there as the Shark Whale plunged deeper 😢
Exactly! I got nervous when I saw the diver pinching his nose to equalize.
They actually let go at one point because he was taking them deeper. The got back on when he came back up. If they would stay on him and go deeper and then he takes them back up, they could get decompression sickness.
WOW such a BEAUTIFUL sight to see!! Thank God they saved him!!❤️❤️❤️
Amazing job! There is no telling how long that poor whale had that on it. The scars were so visible.
Thank you!
It's a shark (fish), not a whale lol...notice the gills?
The shark came back to shake hands and say "Thank you"!
That was amazing!! 🐋🐬🔥🔥🔥
Whale sharks can't think like Dolphins or real whales
@@josephposada1830 Since they are a fish (the largest on earth), they don't react to their environments the same way a mammal would, but they do show awareness and the ability to interact with divers. Studies have documented whale sharks, especially young ones, to enjoy playing with divers.
Maybe humans can learn from the whale to show gratitude for a good deed
These people are kind and good-hearted. We probably needed more people to do these type of stuff.

I can't imagine what it must be like to be so close to a large and peaceful animal like that, let alone helping it escape from bondage. Truly amazing work.
Maybe this shark was into 50 Shades of Grey and enjoyed the bondage? Silly human.

I had the good fortune to see such a beast up very close...
Fishing at night in a panga (about 20 + feet long) with Mexican fishermen friends we were waiting to pull in

Amazing how I've seen this happen to various sea animals and its like they understand that the diver is helping them.
Whale is a mammal, and mammals have a complex brain 🧠 than other animals, hence it was able to figure out the divers were helping out and not trying to to hurt.
@@emmanuelosieya6733 Whale Sharks aren't mammals, they're fish
@@emmanuelosieya6733 "Unlike whales, sharks are not mammals but belong to a group of cartilaginous fishes. The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) earns the name “whale” solely because of its size."

Some animals might be able to detect brainwaves. They feel our intention. There is knowledge of unknown source , knowledge ignored too often by modern humans. Interlevel communication , intuition. All is connected.

And hhhk20, all animals are perfectly capable of calling other species for help.

@hhhk20 Also, not sure if you've ever seen any kind of aquatic documentary or anything but there are plenty of animals that help each other. It's not impossible to make a leap that humans can be helpful animals too.
@@harrisaxer2651 I've actually had the pleasure of swimming with whale sharks, and from that experience I can tell you that they're really not very fond of us tagging along with them. When they get tired of us all that they do is go deep until you can't see them anymore. Most likely the whale doesn't know that we are somewhat limited in how deep we can go. I say it wanted the help and knew they were helping because after it went too deep and the divers had to stop, it actually came back. Pretty amazing and I've seen videos of many other animal species approaching humans and sticking around when they were in need of help, including other sharks.
@@majalca03 totally agree now. What saddens me the most is how many people still think that we as a species have the exclusive rights to intelligence and emotions despite infinite examples to the contrary.
