It’s kind of… fitting? ironic?… that by making an enemy of the Genii, they found a friend in Todd the Wraith, without whom they’d have lost to the Replicators, and potentially not been able to save Earth once the Wraith made their way there too

    • @ThePCguy17
      @ThePCguy17 2 роки тому +14

Todd also wouldn't have been so powerful and influential as a mere soldier without their help, meaning the ZPMs necessary for the journey to Earth might not have been consolidated into one place to get stolen. The whole situation's a bit messy, and it's hard to say what could have gone differently with so many variables at play.

@@ThePCguy17 He was already one of the leader class Wraith, not just a mere soldier, but yea, that's very true.

I loved a later exchange between Ladon and the Expedition:
"Ladon, where did you secretly get a Nuclear Bomb?"
"I am the chief of the Genii Nuclear weapons programm - I _built_ it!"

Miles was a far better chief Engineer than a transporter chief. Just ask Captain Sisko and anyone else from DS9.

@@ApolloXL5 I understand that Miles never wanted to be commissioned, but him fixing the design bugs in the Defiant should have warranted at least a promotion. His ingenuity made that class of starship viable when others couldn't which in turn contributed significantly to winning the Dominion War. He should have been made a Master Chief Petty Officer or maybe a Warrant Officer if Starfleet had such a rank. Also, let's not forget that he integrated successfully Federation, Bajoran and Cardassian tech making DS9 a hardened, defensible position that could take on entire fleets. Miles was the man.

cowen here wasnt entirely wrong. Trying to rescue anyone was a mistake. They should of already learnt that lesson when they rescued there people in the pilot and woke the wraith leading them straight to atlantis and putting earth at risk.

Teyla and Sheppard had a major disagreement over a similar issue near the end of this very season. On the planet where the Wraith hive ships were going to make a pit-stop on the way to Atlantis, Teyla pleaded with Sheppard to save some of the inhabitants from the culling. Initially he was not going to help but the events of the episode forced his hand.
I think the expedition team was more opposed to the Genii actually killing the culling victim trying to escape in this episode.

The Genii are idiots, if they had remained allies with Atlantis they'd have nukes to fight the wraith, safety measures to prevent them dying a slow and painful death from radiation poisoning/cancer, trading partners and military support etc etc

That's why Ladon took over, though by then the damage had already kinda been done. And once they started getting multiple Daedalus class ships in Pegasus the Genii were already losing any prospects of become the top military power especially after their farmer facade for millennia.

Honestly if I was Shepherd I would've killed all of those Geni regardless. Set a precedent and sends a message. That's something Rush would've done lol.

I would've sent the device to the Genii after copying the data. Doesn't help to have an ally. But most important and the real reason: Let them do the dirty work (at least as far as they can). Doesn't hurt Atlantis if another enemy of the Wraith has infos about them.

Sheppard's spidey sense to have the jumpers cloaked above. Looks like the rest of the team was unaware

Should be standard operating procedure with every first contact. I mean if you have cloaked jumpers, why not utilize them as invisible cover?

The Genii were at worst a minor threat, the wraith were not. Every operation the Genii ran that killed wraith offscreen helped Atlantis whether they knew it or not. Fact is, even if they are enemies, the Expedition and Genii had a mutual enemy in the wraith and it would do neither of them any good to lose an ally (even an unwilling one) in that fight.

Sheppard made a mistake here, i mean taking that device was a really bad move, just leave and be happy is far better the to have another enemy indeed. Specially when that enemy is Robert Davi, i mean i met the man in real life that man is idol material, he is so fucking cool.
