  • Hermiod is a character from a show called stargate atlantis, which is a spin off from stargate SG1 where his species the asgard were originally from.

Hermiod is basically both the Rodney McKay and John Shepard of the Asgard - the intelligence and narcissism of the former, the snarkiness of the latter.

Hermiod: "Those humans need an overseer, they are merely childs"
Thor: "Well you got the job"
Hermiod thinking: "i didn't mean me, i... i meant someone else dammed!!"

@@TheCyberloki Actually he was there to determine if Earth is worthy of getting Asgard tech...
in essence he supposedly in his report then said that yes, Earth is about the only chance of their legacy not being squandered and perverted like Ancient one was with Goauld.
and he also said that humans will use the technology for BOTH war and peace... as that is our nature. I do not remmeber which book or story it was.
in the end - he kind of said that we are more like them, then the ancients.

The Asgard are an interesting case. Due to them just cloning themselves and transferring their consciousness into the new body, they remain at their positions in their society forever. Thor was Supreme Commander of the Asgard fleet and that position probably didn't open up for thousands of years. So Hermiod was a scientist, doing research and dealing with the same kind of problem for milennia. So of course he's developing a no nonsense attitude.

    • @UmaROMC

Any scientist worth his or her salt realizes they know very little outside of their specific area of specialization.
Hermiod's superior attitude is a reflection of the same type of mindset in many human scientists these days, who feel themselves morally superior because they are experts in a narrow field.

I am not so sure the Asgard are after ambition (as in being ""promoted""), and being a scientist might actually be the best position for a civilisation running after knowledge and progress.
