    I'd say the "scooped mids" tone was accidentally(?) a very accurate reproduction of the "chainsaw" hm-2 tone.

    • @AgainstTheeWickedlyMusic
      @AgainstTheeWickedlyMusic 3 роки тому +1

      I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought it sounded that way. Very scooped in the low-mids, then ramps up to the peak in the high-mids. I think that was purely accident, but I always wondered if you could get that tone with a Fuzz and an EQ. Sounds like you can!

    Fuck yes! I think of my EQ as my “distortion perfecter”-my usual distortion pedal gets pretty close to the sound I want, but with an EQ following it I can refine it, removing what I don’t like (fizzy high end) and emphasizing what I do (mids). I use the MXR Ten Band EQ; it works great.

    If you haven't you should definitely check out Lambchopper's videos where he uses a EQ to get Metallica tones out of his Marshall DSL, it's actually insane how close he gets to the Justice tone. I use the same trick on my Randall to get that Mesa-y low end, works wonders

    the one thing that i’ve always wanted to get during the start of my guitar journey was pedals, im glad to hear that you can get all these effects digitally, but i would still rather have an actual thing right in front of me while playing so i can tweak it easier, great vid!

    The Metal Zone has a great double potted analog EQ neatly concealing itself under the guise of "distortion pedal". Imo it's best feature.
    It IS just that but so much more.
    I haven't used that pedal in years (not counting digital versions) I used it back in the early 2000s for EVERYTHING before plug-in's were a thing.
    The EQ I used to use to dial in so many tones from moderate OD to saturated distortion (scooped mids this pedal shines)
    Over the years I've learned to appreciate the mid range frequencies like the mid boost so many amps have (like the ENGL Fireball).
    Someone said they couldn't believe EQ tweaking is how Steph Carp concocted the needles and pins tone. Good old Steph - an absolute master of the EQ.
    How about "Dai the Flu" or that incredible split coil tone in Fireal and Riviere.
    Great video per usual there New Groove!!

    I've been running that same pedal through the effects loop of my 5150 forever. One click on the channel switcher and you have a dedicated tone for solos, or even better, the opposite; killer, thick beefy tone for when your band mate is doing the leads. Great vid man!

    Needles and pins better sounds on 8string, open 8 string, 11 th fret on 7 th string and 13 th fret on 6 th string. Then it sounds like in original. On this song they have album version and live chinos bass version. Don't know what tuning he has, but it has to be open string in F#.
