  • Diagnosing lipedema is purely clinical. There are no elaborate tests that need to be done to diagnose for lipedema. Considering both cosmetic and medical symptoms, Dr. David Amron has diagnosed thousands of women, but many of them come in already having correctly self diagnosed.
It's not just overweight women who have lipedema. There are several thin patients ranging from models to athletes who have lipedema. It's important to understand the disease as a fat disorder rather than a weight disorder. Dr. David Amron has treated several patients who weight 120 pounds and under with lipedema.
Every day more and more women are discovering they have Lipedema and will go on a search on how to understand this disease that they've been suffering with their entire lives. Moment to moment, they will go "Ah! Ha!" It’s so important for medical providers to share accurate information about this lipedema. Lipedema is a treatable disease and can be easily diagnosed. Dr. David Amron, lipedema surgeon and pioneer, talks about everything from treatments, stages, diagnosis, diet, and the truths behind how many liters of fat should be removed.
Lipedema is a complicated disorder that many doctors are unaware of. Until recently, Lipedema has been a troubling medical mystery, so most women have had to live with it. Many of the patients Dr. Amron sees have been to numerous physicians, but never received a proper evaluation or diagnosis. However, there are answers and an effective treatment.
Lipedema is a progressive disease. The sooner it is treated the better for your quality of life.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lipedema occurs almost exclusively in women and usually appears after puberty, progressively getting worse. It affects approximately 11 percent of the female population - 17 million in the U.S. and 370 million women worldwide. Commonly, there's a genetic inheritance component to Lipedema.
As Lipedema progresses, patients experience a series of symptoms including, discomfort, pain, heaviness and numbness. These symptoms get increasingly worse and begin to affect a person's mobility and quality of life, causing decreased ability to move as easily, usually affecting the ability to exercise, too. At later stages, it can even put patients in a wheelchair, or possibly make them bedridden.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dr. David Amron is a board-certified dermatologic surgeon specializing in #liposuction and body contouring. He has pioneered treatment for lipedema globally and was the first surgeon to publicly recognize Lipedema within the United States. For the past 20 years Dr. Amron has focused his research and practice on surgical and non-surgical liposuction and body proportioning as well as other integrative therapies relating to weight loss. Over this period of time he has gained invaluable insight into the genetic function and structural proportions of the human form and developed a refined and comprehensive approach to the art of liposculpture. In our current day and age, educated patients recognize the need for a highly tailored and scientific approach to liposuction. That’s why patients come from all over the world to see arguably the best liposuction surgeon Los Angeles has to offer.

I thought it was just MS taking away my ability to walk. Meds that caused weight gain, this less activity from pain,... A painful cycle. But after they couldn't locate any new lesions in hospital, doctors dropped the ball, leaving me to find my own diagnosis. Well this answers my questions! My mom, grandma, and other relatives through history had it. I have it. 😣

Not rocket science indeed. I diagnosed myself. Wasn’t that hard. My doctors never put 1 + 1 + 1 together. My grandmother, mother and myself. Doesn’t take a genius to see the pattern yet NEVER a word was said about it from any Dr.
Thanks for putting out this info!

@@drdavidamron if I don’t have insurance and I’m completely paying out of pocket do you do discounts? I see women using insurance anyways and barely getting any coverage
