That opening quote, “In it’s many forms…” was very clarifying compared to common explanations of magic which very quickly get mired in intentionally opaque esotericism. Basically- what are the boundaries of the self and to what degree does it participate in the formation of the ‘outside’ world? This definition immediately helps to see links between various traditions which ultimately are about answering those questions. Very helpful indeed, thank you both.
@@TheSacredSpeaks Do you have a time stamp for when you guys discuss poltergeists? I plan on watching the whole thing, but am most interested in the parts where you discuss the paranormal.
@@troytice8354 Your search may not yield the depth you seek. The poltergeist shows up later in our conversation - maybe the last 30 minutes, though it's more contextually within the subject of the paranormal.
@@troytice8354 I'm quite fond of his work. I've read 4 of his books and I appreciate his insights. Catafalque is amazing! Have you read Bernardo Kastrup's recent release on Jung - "Decoding Jung's Metaphysics"?
The best way to understand is to look at what our imagination does.. Everything is "happening" in our imagination, limitless virtual space where we can create anything out of nothing. How that works... is "magic". We "live" in a reality that is neither real, nor Life, yet we're completely convinced it's both. That's "black magic" :)
Thank you for your comment, which is as insightful as it is poetic! The human imagination is indeed a realm of limitless possibilities and sometimes it feels like a form of "magic." It’s a space where concepts and images, which have no physical form, can take shape and feel incredibly real. Your words remind me of the famous quote from the science fiction author, Arthur C. Clarke: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Perhaps, in the case of our brains and imagination, we're dealing with a biological 'technology' so advanced that its capabilities seem nothing short of magical! As for your thoughts on our perceived reality, it brings to mind the philosophical quandary of what is truly real. Is reality as we perceive it merely a complex illusion - a sort of "black magic" as you so creatively put it? It's a fascinating concept to ponder, and one that has been a subject of philosophical debate for centuries. Maybe the key to understanding it is, as you suggested, in our limitless imaginations. Thank you for sharing your thought-provoking reflections with us. Your comment certainly adds a dash of 'magic' to our conversation!

@@TheSacredSpeaks Thanks. As a Jungian scholar, what do you think of Peter Kingsley?

On the subject of future guests, you mentioned Eric Davis. Which one would that be?
