113: Barry Taylor: Music, Mysticism, and Modernity
Interview begins @ 3:11
In this episode, I sit down with Barry Taylor to explore the intersections of rock 'n' roll, counterculture, and spirituality. Barry shares his early experiences in the vibrant world of music and discusses how these experiences opened up a new language for understanding the invisible aspects of our world.
Highlights of this episode include:
• Music as a Gateway: Barry and I explore how music acts as a symbolic language that helps articulate the invisible, shaping our perception of the mystical.
• The Famous Quote Explained: Barry elucidates the quote famously referenced by Pete Holmes, discussing how the invisible world is like a blanket we lay to give shape to what we cannot see.
• Forensic Faith and Fluid Reality: We dive into the challenges of making spirituality overly concrete and discuss the benefits of embracing the fluid nature of reality.
• Religion as Interpretive Framework: Barry articulates how religion should be approached as a framework for interpreting reality, rather than a rigid truth.
• Transgression and Kindness: We discuss how simple acts of kindness can be transgressive in a culture that often overlooks them.
• Culture, Tattoos, and Taboos: We examine how tattoos and fashion challenge cultural norms and serve as powerful expressions of individual identity.
• The Digital as Divine: Barry makes a compelling argument that our technological advancements have taken on a divine-like role in society, shaping our responses to societal challenges and the concept of otherness.
Closing Thoughts: As we wrap up, Barry offers insights into the future role of technology in spirituality and the potential illusions of growth in our digital age.

    It's my best estimation leading me to believe this guy is an actor and before anyone starts screaming "BS!" Hear me out, the military industrial complex in the last 20 years has been very adept at furnishing the payload to engineer the trajectory of division within society. They do a great job of generating polarizing content and of course anything to do with politics and religion is the target audience. Most of us don't even know our history is completely manufactured. Go read the book, "Propaganda" by Edward Bernays and he describes the recipe he used for the entire last century in manufacturing the consumer society using pure bullshit. Terrence Howard (actor) now a self made science guru and he's making the scary new kind of "scientism" used by kneel in the grass Bison, haha, get ready folks, men are competing in the Olympics, we don't know what's going to be installed in the White House or whatever it is now. You may not believe any of this, but that still doesn't mean it's not possible. Have fun.

    I could find no proof of the claims he made with regard to the young naked man in Mark 14. The Septuagint doesn't include the New Testament at all. Also, the young man, who likely would have been a follower, and him wearing a single linen cloth could indicate he had been resurrected from the dead (only had a burial cloth, which is one of the definitions of the Greek word sindon) or had newly been baptized, where minimal clothing would have been worn. Turning this into a sexual situation is spurious. I also reviewed reviews of his books on Amazon (I don't have copies myself): many who like the books indicated that he did not provide adequate proof of his claims. The claims made by Dr. Hillman are injurious enough to believers so that, to bring them forward would require extremely detailed proofs, not just inference to Greek ritual behavior. At this point, I find his presentation of this information to be irresponsible. I did a quick look at his YT channel Lady Babylon and he presents himself in an adversarial way to the Christian faith such that I would assert his views as belligerent. Watch Dr. Hillman with significant scrutiny, and demand more proof, less entertainment.

      It appears you made a mistake in your analysis. I will help you. The septuigent is the oldest version of the old testament. It was written in Greek. The new testament in its oldest form was written in Greek. So the passage is Mark 14 51-52. You'll notice in the following verse they refer to the kid as a νεανίσκος. The root of this Greek word means "budding or beginning of life". Please, be more careful instead of shutting yourself down to new information that might change you. This language words are used throughout the old and new testaments In there oldest Greek format

    • @robhemp5548
      @robhemp5548 17 днів тому

      @@chsgamondo7557 27:33 Ammon elaborated that the words used for his analysis were in the Septuagint. The occasion occurs in the NT, not the Septuagint and Hillman confers pagan ritual language to the situation because of the Greek language itself. If you resided in Ancient Greece and inherently used the language that had extensive associations with pagan rituals, did that mean that the rituals occurred when using the language? There is nothing wrong with a young boy becoming a convert and no sexual ritual is required to assert that the boy was young and beginning life. My point is that using language mechanics to assert gross sexual activity is irresponsible without providing significant supporting evidence. Using Galen as the reference for language use not associated with Galen would significantly bias the meaning attributed to it. BTW, if sexual events occurred during early Christianity, I would not be surprised based on concerns Paul presented in his letters; however, Dr. Hillman is directly accusing Jesus of committing sexual acts with children, and he's using language inference as his justification.

      @@robhemp5548 again , you are creating fallacy within the context of you’re misunderstanding. Ammon is saying that the words used in the Septuagint and New Testament have been used for 1000s of years since Homeric times. Regardless if you see the word in the old of New Testament, he is saying the same religious words used in pagan rituals mentioned by much older Greek authors are being used the same way as the pagans by the author’s of the old and New Testament. I am not going to explain this again so please read this carefully. Again, the minds of our ancestors modern people would consider savage. What Ammon is illustrating, that to eliminate the pagan world completely after it had been established since the dawn of time, the common orphans and pagan youth in Rome during the time of the first Christian’s were sodomized or molested at an early age in order indoctrination anyone from practicing or believing the pagan beings which were universally understood through mythology. This created a taboo around spirits, demons. Hope this helps. What made it clear to me was meeting people I knew who came from church who were also abused .

    • @robhemp5548
      @robhemp5548 15 днів тому

      @@chsgamondo7557 "the common orphans and pagan youth in Rome during the time of the first Christian’s were sodomized or molested at an early age" This, I think, you have no proof of verification as applicable to the early Christians. First, Jesus was not a Greek, nor lived in a Greek society, but in the Palestinian area wherein the law of Moses was practiced: the law forbade the pagan practices regardless of the language used in translating religious writings. Second, if the Christian religion were to gain a foothold, it would only do so with Jesus' concourse being in strict observance of Jewish law (the Torah); the gospels, even though written in an advanced Greek language, would have failed to convey the validity of Christ as observer of the Torah, if Jesus were caught having concourse comprising sexual immorality with youth. Third, it has been considered, as an adverse response to the New Testament itself, that the gospels were written the the classical Greek language, a language requiring literate authorship, which would entail a removal from the story having been related to readership by (extremely likely) illiterate fishermen recounting their experiences; it was, most likely, that Jesus and his disciples spoke Aramaic, not a Greek language associated with scholarship and literacy; therefore, it should be considered that the gospels, having been written in a higher language, are an elaboration of the accounts that would have been provided by the disciples themselves; applying ancient Greek pagan ritual behavior is irresponsible when associated with the gospels. Fourth, a colleague of mine, who could read, write and speak the Greek utilized in both the Septuagint and the Greek translations of the New Testament, claimed that the emergence of Christianity caused a re-defined understanding of the Greek language itself and was of paramount importance therewith; this means the imputed Greek pagan language applied by Dr. Hillman may have been superseded by adherence to a cleaner lifestyle supported by the early Christians while the language was preserved. Finally, my review of Dr. Hillman's online presentation, namely by reviewing his UA-cam channel, Lady Babylon, is that Dr. Hillman is a Satanic, anti-Christian, and a would-be alchemist, trying to gain the acceptance similar to that gained in the early 20th Century by Allister Crowley, which, by observation of the idiocy presented in the past with Mr. Crowley, and with the effort by Dr. Hillman today, delivers to him (Dr., Hillman) severe disrespect with regard to the establishment of scientific investigation towards the preservation of truth.

Yes please! 1:22:30 Why priestesses and doctors where the same thing and churches/temples were the same thing as hospitals 1:25:12 There's no word for homosexuality in Greek. Isn't that shocking? 1:30:14 the muse returns 1:31:31 None of that is new. It's a cycle

    Jesus was praying in the Garden of Gesthemade. Previously he had said, “Verily I say unto you, unless ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. This is a reference to forgetting the time as children when we lived in the moment. That part of the bible is simply showing that Jesus is in that state of spiritual ascension. Wow man.. stop degenrating the word of God.

    i cant believe anyone really believes what this dude is saying. Jesus couldn't be having sex and he didn't since abstaining from sex is the only way to ascend spiritually.

    Simon Magus was trying to purchase the knowledge of Jesus which was denied. This is quite some blasphemy of i've ever heard any.

    It would be nice to have him do live translations of primary text with the source given. So we can verify on our own later.

    The biblical "Tree of Life" is the tree that produces fruit for physical sustenance (fruit, vegetables, nuts...). The biblical "Tree of Knowledge" is the tree that produces fruit for spiritual sustenance (cannabis, Banisteriopsis caapi/Psychotria viridis - DMT, Opium poppy, Salvia Divinorum, Iboga, Acacia...). "When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it" - Genesis 3:6 Spiritually speaking (gender aside), a patriarchy ends and a matriarchy begins with an understanding of the cyclical nature of reality (God). Represented by the snake in many creation myths, the living cycle has a trinity of a beginning (head), a middle and end (tail). As above so below, the sexes were created in the image of God's cyclical nature where Mother is the head and opening to all beginnings and Father holds the tail to all endings (through which the sowing of seeds allow for the next great matriarchal rebirth).The joining of the two (symbolized by the Ouroborus or the marriage ring) is the sacred union needed in assuring the creation and continuation of new life cycles. To speak of the present day God as "Our Father" is simply an admission to our collective positioning within the bigger cycle. As all mothers have direct experience with the creator quality of birthing, so is the direct experience of rebirthing the divinity within (baptism) belong to that which is spiritually matriarchal. (John 3, verse 3-8). Sekhmet statues (ancient Egyptian) carry most of their weight in symbolic memory of what was a mother culture dedicated to the direct experience of baptism. As the leg shaped hairlocks extend from maternal breasts to the womb of rebirth, the lioness's head proportions are such that they highlight the bust of a second animal figure. The Lioness's ears as eyes and eyes as nose (nostrils) brings to life the figure of a reptile. 'Neath the halo headress of the solar egg, the lioness's egg fertilization process being internal (Set) and the reptile's egg fertilization process being external (Setting), such being key components to the safety of entering the trans-egoic or "born again" state. The life threatening fear associated with the predatory nature of a lion and/or crocodile encounter are reflective of the intense ego death experiences associated with the transpersonal awakening process. In spiritually matriarchal times, illumination could be seen as wearing the false beard (ancient Egyptian funerary "ego" death mask) as the high state of cyclical self knowing; high awareness of both our upper matriarchal half and our lower (later) patriarchal half (compared with a mini lower body replica, an "as above so below" tail end beard extension); in full recognition of her civilizational Underworld; her inevitable cyclical destiny. The male pharaoh wears his beard tapered in reverse, indicating a pointing upwards towards the patriarchal head, divine representative of God's tail end cycle. Mary's anointing and wiping of Jesus's feet with her hair can then be seen as "Head to tail" (toe) imagery as she descends her matriarchal head to his patriarchal feet, thus reenacting the high understanding of the divine cyclical process. (John 12, verse 3) To carry the Ankh (now the female symbol ♀️) was perhaps to symbolically carry that upper and lower understanding. As the upper matriarchal womb symbolised the fertile birthing of civilization, below, the now Christian cross is carried to place emphasis on the lower (later) "End Times" Father principle of the great cycle. Lord Ganesha, the elephant headed Hindu diety, displays a cyclical head to trunk symbolism and points to the Mother head of his matriarchal elephant society. Ganesha (like the elephant) wears God's cyclical nature on his face. A whole temple was dedicated to Hathor (ancient Egyptian diety), who is the matriarchal "Uterus" personified. ua-cam.com/video/J0m0zJSEFK0/v-deo.html "See all women as mothers, serve them as your mother. when you see the entire world as the mother, the ego falls away. See everything as Mother and you will know God." - Neem Karoli Baba "My son, keep thy father's commandment and forsake not the law of thy mother" - Proverbs 6 : 20

    What this guy is talking about, are claims that nobody is making, about things that very few people know anything about, with evidence that even fewer people can prove. Im not taking his word for it. Very loose connections with very little evidence to back it. Just one crazy dude oversexualizing history. Until I can see otherwise.

    I have a question. From where do the morals that condition us come? Who decided to "hide" (for the lack of a better word) this alleged truth about sex and rituals, and why? If Jesus was nothing as we are taught, he then was not the starting point of the change in morals and such. Who, then, and why?
