Absolutely 60 year old Irish women divorced after controlling relationship!!! This song has always said it all! The story of my life, as others said will be played at my funeral
Can I just say I love Christy Moore and this song brings tears to my eyes ,my son died 8 months ago and when he was younger he loved horse riding he was disabled yet he could do this with help I just keep thinking of him in the afterlife free on his horse rest in peace my darling Kevin xxxxx no longer here but never forgotten and thank you Christy Moore for such a beautiful song
I recently lost my baby sister she was only 38 she passed away 12th January and then 6months later my fiancee passed away 25th July 2022 my heart as been torn out and broken 💔 😢 am a lost soul at the moment, I came across this song by accident its very haunting but very beautifully sung
I long, with every fibre of my being, to be Irish, and I love Christie and many other fine Irish musicians. My one and only wish is to step foot on Irish soil and breathe in the Irish air, and have my first jar in an Irish pub, maybe in Dublin, so, look out, I'm coming! I'll get there one day! I'll get there one fine day!
Declan Synott guitar work is masterfull .... hands down the best in Irish folk ... He frames the picture Christie paints with such a deft touch...His atmospheric guitar work is phenomenal ... clean , harmonically rich.. perfect.
The funeral service for a very old friend of mine was today, I watched online as I live in a different country. Her son made a wonderful speech about his mother and at the end they played Ride On. It was such an inspired choice and reminded me of how much I cared for my old friend.
We are special. Look at the people that have come from here. The best of the best... we have made more impact in this world than any other nationality.. most American president were Irish.. actors and sports people
1.1 million views in 11 years correct me if I'm wrong but 10k views a month! I'm glad it still lives on as powerful as ever! Love you Christy you true Irish warrior 🪖🇮🇪
It will be a year on the 26th September since I lost my partner of nearly 25 years. It’s been the saddest and loneliest year of my life. I feel he’s still with me at times. it’s only that and my faith that has got me through. The grief never goes away but the waves of pain get less frequent
BBC Radio 2 are playing this song as a tribute to their DJ Steve Wright who loved Christy but missed out seeing him live due to COVID. It was announced, today, that Steve sadly passed away RIP.
I'm so sorry for what you have lost That's what this song does It makes you feel like you are talking to them I've been in same place You just have to keep going with life the best you can
Havnt listened to Christie for a good few years.was sharing his music to my American Sister & re lit that spark long time no hear sounds better than ever ❤
I’ve had the pleasure to see this great man in concert several times and this tune brings back so many great memories. First LP I heard him on. The craic was ninety and the pints were two pounds. Ride on Christy. ☘️ 🎵
The first words Christy says, even before he starts the song, bring tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. “Any day that you get home in one piece is a good day”. Because 75 yrs ago when they were 5yo and 29yo my uncle and grandfather were killed in 2 separate road accidents, only 5 days apart and to this day my dad hasn’t healed. Truer words have ne’er been spoken, Christy. Any day above ground is a good day. ❤🙏🏽
True you ride the finest horse I have ever seen Standing sixteen one or two, with eyes wild and green And you ride the horse so well, hands light to the touch I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to Ride on, see you, I could never go with you No matter how I wanted to When you ride into the night without a trace behind Run your claw along my gut, one last time I turn to face an empty space, where once you used to lie And look for a spark that lights the dark Through a teardrop in my eye Ride on, see you, I could never go with you No matter how I wanted to Ride on, see you, I could never go with you No matter how I wanted to No matter how I wanted to
Ride On and Folk Tale from Graffiti Tongue are my absolute Christy Moore favourites. I listened to an old Desert Island discs from 2007 and he relates that his mother had him learn diction, which , combined with his Irish lilt, makes for beautiful singing and speech. A credit to his nation.
Christy Moore has a clean simplicity to his singing & like most Irish ( opinion) he enunciates the consonants..the whole words are sounded out, no slurring, no shortcuts. Maybe this is one reason why people love his music in concert...Beautiful sparse guitar accompaniment. No note is placed wrong(ly) haha
I was born in England it doesn't matter i am Irish and proud of it i have good friends in England and i spent 14 years working and happy to get it when their was no work here English people are ok i had a friend over for a week his mother and dad was lovely people he has 4 group up kids and i have 6 and grandkids
I'm a proud protestant Ulsterman. But Christy Moore is one of my all time favourites and this is my favourite song of his
Proud Ulsterman also, but you have to respect talent when you see it! 🇬🇧🇮🇪

My Dad played me this tune.. Reminds me ever so of him.. We both absolutely love Horses.. Such an Emotional Song for me. Heart Wrenching at times. ❤
I love how the crowd seems in a trance. Captures the feel of every song he does. The crowd feels the same

Saw this performed twice in the same year by christy and guitarist Declan Sinnett. It's was the most moving experience I have had at any gig...
THIS SONG IS ONE OF THE MANY CHRISTY MOORE CLASSICS---- TRULY SUPERB!
