Why I Use a Samsung Phone (and NOT iPhone)

- This is why I use a Samsung phone and not an iPhone. I recently got a new phone, the Samsung Galaxy S21. Before getting my Samsung phone, I did consider getting the iPhone 12 because I already own a MacBook and an iPad. But in the end, I still decided to go for the Samsung S21 instead of the iPhone 12, and I explain why in this video. Hope you enjoyed watching!

Might be good to start buying some parts for the pc whenever they are available as the market is crazy right now. It’s like Marques Brownlee mentioned (and I’m paraphrasing here) when he said that we shouldn’t let the connectivity between devices from one ecosystem distract us and blind us to the fact that there are better quality options out there in the categories we’re looking for.
Connectivity isn't even that bad there's tons of workarounds but in my experience apple users tend to be less flexible about using workarounds

@Michael Oku Oh, please. Apple fanboy, sit down.
@Michael Oku Cuz u are a typical Apple fanboy, dude :D We can all agree, that android market is better now, and everyone going for them. That happens rarely though. Not sure if that's what you meant or something else. I don't have any experience with iPhones and don't like their layout and stuff but both phones are probably both really great overall. It's really just preference and if one does more you like over the other. I hope this helps 😊
I think as far as air drop, samsung has quickshare, which I think does the same thing. The only downside(as with airdrop) is that you can only use it with other Samsungs, and your other devices are Apple, so it might not work for what you need it to do.
I think they also have nearby share. I have it on my android tablet and my note 20. I use them when I want a phot from one and want it on the other. I dont know if all android phone and tablets have them but the ones I have do
I’ve owned both iOS and Android (specifically Samsung Galaxy’s) and prefer the former. But; Samsung devices are great too. I just never felt the need to customize my home screen with themes and icon packs, so I felt like it was overkill for the usage I gave it. It all boils down to personal preference and usage.
After using iphones for years, i switched to a Samsung recently and I'm loving it! The refresh rate is so fast, and the phone is definitely more responsive. I love customizations so i went all out w pink lol. Nice video Ella!!

It took me 3-4 hours just to give my iPhone a “theme” and it took others with more complex “themes” longer. I’m very indecisive and like to change up my customization a lot. Yes, I am in the same situation, a MBP and iPad. For eleven years my smartphone of choice was iPhone only, started with iPhone 3GS through XR. iPhone perfectly fit the Apple ecosystem, love their integration. August 2020 I purchased my first Android, the Samsung Note 20 it is amazing, it surpasses my previous iPhones. After a year with this Note 20 I can say for my use I do not see any reason returning to iPhone.
Apple and Samsung ecosystems are equal, and work well with their respective devices. Things I like about my Note 20: one obvious reason is using the S-Pen and its feature set, make any app as default, DeX is outstanding, Samsung (Android) implementation of copy/paste is something Apple and computers should have, split screen, Secure Folders, and more are considerably better than Apple. For over twenty years I was Apple products only, many Apple products, truly a Apple gear-head. Now, with my Samsung Note 20 experience I am also switching to Windows.
I’m exactly the same! I use a MacBook and iPad but for phones, I think everyone goes crazy for the iPhone. Personally I find android phones clearer to understand and I just think in general the whole thing is neat and the features are fair.

I am convinced of the truth value of quotes like "windows is better" and "PC master race", yet you'll never find me calling MacBook users (which includes Ella) "brainless herd" as I'm sure it fits their needs. On the same note, most people don't need a 50 MP camera, but would appreciate product longevity, privacy, and the fluidity of the Apple ecosystem. I don't understand why people like you partake on flinging shit in stuff like this. Using anything other than an iPhone won't give you a higher IQ lmfao. It's not that deep.
For the "copying things and getting it on another device" option you could use the Opera app on your phone. They have an option called "flow" that's like a chat window with yourself. If you are logged into your account in both devices, you can copy anything you want in that Flow window and have it immediately on your other device.
If you use chrome, also, there's an option were you can send links/pages to your phone in like 2 steps.
For transferring files, idk if you can do this between a mac and an android phone and viceversa, but you can try to send files via bluetooth. That's the way I get my stuff from my laptop to my phone. Dropbox and Google drive are also good ways of easily getting stuff from your phone to your computer, and viceversa.

For the few things you had mentioned that apple can do, I'd like to give the equivalents for Samsung/Android users:
Apple Android
Airdrop = Nearby Share, Samsung Flow
icloud = Onedrive, Google One, Amazon Drive, Google Drive
imessage = Google message, Samsung message, facebook message, etc(all have bubble feature)
There are more solutions as well like Samsung Dex which can put your phone on any display or even on your laptop to easily move files around.
So at this point, it's truly down to preference of operating system

Did you not have issues using Facebook Messenger in terms of family or friends not being on that App?
Thank you for breaking this down to everyone Ella. Youve thought me more about my Samsung S10e. And remind me why i left iPhone
What i also love about samsung (android in general) is that when you move photos from a map to another map on your phone it actually MOVES it and not just copies is like it does on an iPhone
Oh my God. Ikr?! This is such an annoying thing on the iphone.
@@jeriekae basically the reason I switched to a Samsung 😫😫
This helps me so much ngl, I’ve been thinking of getting the s21 but I’ve always used iPhone, so I’m happy to hear an honest review!
Been a user of iPhone now I just got my s21 ultra still learning but I think I will love it😍
Did you get it?
Thanks Ella for this video. I have seen this video multiple times and I appreciate your point of view. Personally I also love higher refresh rate on my s20+ and think about moving from iPhone 12 to it quite often but for me now after iPhone from last couple of years I recently started using Macbook on a daily basis. I had Mac since 2016 but did not use it daily as my office provided Windows laptop. But during lockdown when I switched jobs my new employer had a lenient policy towards BYOD and let me use my Mac for office work and then I realised how good is copy paste, Airdrop and iCloud across devices. Now it is convenient ecosystem which is outweighing the refresh rate. Plus Face ID is my fav feature which works seamlessly in dark. Also AirPods are such a nice fit I don’t want to move to Samsung buds. I tried them (Live and Pro) but fit is not as great as Airpods.
Sorry for long post but wanted to share my thoughts after seeing your brilliant video.
Also I wanted to know which phone you use today? Thanks.
omg i saw my bias Rosieeee and samsung really offers tons of cool features that we can't get it in iOS. Btw pip mode only available in browser for iOS but not the apps :(
Damn, it took you only 2 months to nearly triple your sub count! Congrats and keep it up!
I was surprised when she said 10k subscribers only 1 year ago, watching the video now with 200+ subscriber.
Masha'Allah, you deserve it keep going
Love the video! Being an android user myself, I swear I feel like people always try to pressure me to just get an iPhone already but I love the customization on my phone. I'll def be sharing your video whenever I need to explain why i love my phone. Lol
This is definitely a good video to show people when they try to force a specific phone on someone. I had an iPhone and Android and I will say every few years if you can make the switch. Like I had an iPhone 5s then androids then an 11 pro max now a note 20. I might get the S22 plus or a z flip 3 or maybe a pixel
I used to be glued to Windows and Android for my computer and phone respectively, but recently I have switched myself all in to Apple ecosystem. Got myself an iPhone 6s Plus back in June 2020 (a totally new unit, probably leftover supplies that weren't sold yet) and a 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro last January. I appreciate how my content syncs seamlessly between devices. Though I personally prefer the experience of staying within the Apple ecosystem, I'm still thinking of getting myself the nicest Samsung Galaxy and Windows gaming laptop out there.
for the photo issue, google photos is amazing! it syncs and its all on google so its universal. i have it on my phone, tablet and on my laptop~ loved the vid darling! doing well 💫
This was interesting! I was only ever a Samsung user and I finally switched to iPhone with the 12 Pro. I have a Mac and and iPad and airdrop honestly makes the few tradeoffs worth it. I do design work and being able to seamlessly ping files between devices is amazing. I also love the iPhone far more than I would have expected because Samsung makes amazing phones and One UI is so good.
its 1am, I am now addicted to ur channel and will be upgrading my android phone. thank you so much
I think this is the cutest Always on Display i have ever seen !
When you started to give it commands via Ok, Google my phone started to react :D
I am on my iPad right now and just bought the MacBook Air M1… and I’m sitting next to my s21 ultra and was questioning the iPhone 12 Pro/pro max. Thanks for helping me see I’m not alone in being platform agnostic.
I absolutely LOVE your icons!
As an iPhone user, I am pretty minimalist when it comes to my phone so the formatting doesn’t bother me & I’m not really on my phone much either way BUT also as an ex Samsung user there are certain aspects I do miss from my
Samsung. I’d be lying if I said I haven’t thought about trading in my 12 pro for an s21 ultra
Don't be shy, live ur dreams
I think I’m leaving iphone for Dex, just like using my phone for a PC. Get tired of always carrying my PC.
Apple sucks always late wit features... 😒
I’m the same! I’ve got an iPad Pro (2019), a Samsung S22 Ultra, and a Microsoft Surface Pro 6; they all seem to work to well! :)
I use Galaxy and Mac as well. And if you want to use a iCloud features on Samsung you can use it from browser. Just create an icon on your Home Screen to get quick access and that's it. This way you will have access to Notes, Drive, Calendar, Photos on your Mac or iPad.
Excellent video. I have tried to be all in on the Apple ecosystem for about a year now. There are benefits but there are a number of things that are just better on android. I feel like I’m making sacrifices to be a part of this ecosystem. Thanks for the video. Looks like you found the combo that works for you. That’s what we all should be doing.
I dont remenber how I found this channel cause im from Brazil, but im addicted to it
haha thanks for watching my videos :)
a mexican can relate 😌🖐

What I love about the s22 ultra the s pen, how much you can customise, split screen, the pop up apps, the camera, the bubble in the fb messenger, how you can write notes on the calendar etc… on this iPhone iMessage facetime & how simple it is to use with MacBook & Apple Watch.
Thanks for making this video. I already have a Samsung, AND I want to get a Macbook. What editing software do you use on your Macbook and do they play well with each other? Samsung and your Macbook?
and she didn't even mentioned the files management 😂😂
What about it?
@@muddyriver8350 way better than apples
@@jandellko I’ve never used android but the file management on apple iphones and ipads genuinely leaves a lot to be desired. I honestly wish they’d copy how windows does it.
Exactly. Copy, Paste, Drag and drop, able to access root directories, able to run exfat32, exfat, NTFS formatted usb devices
Also the Notification bar
same with me, I was an iPhone user for 7+ years, but I just wanted a change, I now have a Google Pixel, a Mac, and an iPad, it's a great setup for me, I don't like Samsung's UI, stock Android is so close to iOS, it's perfect
Personally I do prefer OneUI, I like the simplicity
One ui is too good
One UI gives you more options to customize than stock Android.
But stock android is good too, no bloated...
@@andyplay3434
I like one ui bloat. The bloat is too good
Thank you for making this video. I have been really thinking about going all in on apple. But I do love my samsung phone and you mentioned google apps I wasnt even using. So I will keep going and see how I like it with using those apps.
Thank you Ella, great job !
I love your videos :) I think its funny when my friends think they can only use one ecosystem :) as a cyber security student I love using many different devices and laptops thanks for your videos keep creating and have a beautiful day!!!
When the S10 came out the futuristic looks and great features made me switch from my iPhone X. I stayed with the s10 for about 7 months and loved some of the customization features (always on display was a big one)! However, I missed things from when I had an iPhone. Group chats with family members were almost non-functional (at least with two others that had iPhones), things like the weather app having ads just really didn’t aspire confidence, and there was just so much more polish throughout the OS/UI (the gesture system was so much smoother, for example)-to name a few. There were also things that came from being in the ecosystem already, like not being able to watch the movies and shows I bought from iTunes and having to always be at my computer to FaceTime. Also, iMessage does not have chat heads, but you can hold down on a message notification and see the last few messages in a pop up and reply from there.
Weather app ads don't exist anymore
I subscribed! You look so professional😅I am starting highschool and almost everyone in my family are using apple products so they gave me a MacBook and an ipad . And i wanted to get an iPhone. But I wanted to see what else can I get and i saw this video and now I think I am going to get a Samsung.😊Thank you!
Thorough explanation of the benefits of a Samsung phone. I use an Android phone for work and iPhone for personal and am comfortable using both. For typing and editing I prefer iOS’s method. Often, I’ll type a report on my iPhone and email it to my Android work phone. This is the number one reason I stay with iPhone and iOS. I’ll admit at times it’s tempting to switch to Android.
I actually bought an iPhone 12 Pro max last fall after always being a Samsung guy, tbh I thought I'd experiment to see if I liked it and also changed to test out the camera but I think overall Samsung has features and customisation that apple will always be behind in it seems, and I know apple users always seem to make fun of Samsung/android users but each year it feels like there's just less of a reason to stay within the apple ecosystem like other than imessage I didnt really see anything that the pro max had that my note 10 plus didn't have or couldn't do better in
it's so amazing to see that you can own an android phone while you're in an Apple ecosystem...
btw subscribed last week. loved your S21 and other content on your channel.. also loved your aesthetic vibe. as an iPhone 6 user, this convinced me to buy the S21. I hope your channel will grow bigger soon :*
UPDATE: just bought the S21.. And it's so sexy af. I don't care about the 1080p instead of 1440p or the plastic design or lack of sd card.. I'm really enjoying this phone. No regrets at all from IOS
A lot of people will use MacBooks cause they are really good computers. iPads are good tablets. If I had the money I would definitely get a MacBook and keep my android tablet and android phone
Great video, definitely food for thought. I am firmly in the Apple ecosystem for my home devices (as I type this out on my M1 MBA). I am super super tempted to pick up a Note 10 Plus second hand to try android again though. I had a Galaxy S3, and my old work phone was an S7 - though that's some time ago now. I've been on the fence about going to the Android for a number of compatibility reasons, especially since I also have an Apple Watch as well as AirPod Pros. Still tempted to just try it out for at least a little but, I think the most frustrating aspect would be having to download and buy all of the apps I have picked up over the years all over again.
THANK YOU FOR HIGHLIGHTING SINGLE TAKE!!! You have earned a subscriber just for that alone.
