This is closer to the kitchen counters my wife wants, just no veins, with a hint of coffee brown coming through and no shine. If I paint my countertop black, do I do a clear pour with Metallic brown pigment powder added, or also add black tinting like you did? I'm thinking if I add black pigment it will hide the brown metallic powder color. Also, are there advantages to taping the edges and after a few hours peeling it off vs. letting the pour run over the edge after troweling and chopping?
Black and white is simple and elegant. I used to like that a lot. I do enjoy accent colors though. I think some dark blue would look awesome in this piece! Nice job Mitch.
@@StoneCoatCountertops I have several future projects in mind including a new home, and your videos have been a real inspiration to be more crafty and hand-on with the interior design of things. It's all about taking a vision and giving it its own life.
I probably would have preferred fewer lines but you can't beat black and white. I've been waiting for a black and white piece. It is really beautiful! Timeless.
I love the piece. I love the elegance of it. I'm trying to decide on kitchen countertops, but I am not sure about black. I'm leaning toward a dark gray marble look. My cabinets are white so I want a contrast, not a lighter marble look. I do love the ease of this application!!!! I get overwhelmed with more complex ones. But the more I watch, the more confident I feel!!!!
This technique is very simple and repeatable! I'm so happy it was what you're looking for. If I was going to do this again, I would have added a little black spray paint to my white veins, I think it would have added even more! Thanks so much for watching and leaving such a wonderful comment!
I found you guys on UA-cam when I lived in Yreka and realized you were only an hour and a half away. So I made the drive up in 2017 when the smoke was just awful. Everyone at the office was super nice and amazingly helpful. Using a few different epoxies, I can tell you what really sets you guys apart is the MASSIVE work time compared to other products and the versatility in adding color in multiple ways. This is the only epoxy I use and what I recommend in all the Facebook groups I’m in.
SO ELEGANT. Perfect just like it is. WELL, DONE. I am going to try it this week on my kitchen cabinet with high gloss acrylic paint. Thank you for sharing.
This is right up my alley and I plan on doing my kitchen soon. It’s simple enough that I think I can do a large U shape that’s 12’ at the longest. I would like to add just a little color and sparkle so I’m planning a little dark blue and silver with the white veins.
Great question, Stone Coat isn't the correct epoxy to be applied to a tub. That can be some toxic stuff that a pro would need to spray on. Let me know if you have any other questions
That was absolutely amazing to watch and sent me right back to being a 5 yr old little girl “helping” my Papa doing exactly the same thing to my Mama’s new hairdressing salon floor. I remember watching my Papa on his hands and knees with a great big “mask” on his face to protect him from the fumes! He would always tell me to stay right back or put a mask on but I loved the smell of the epoxy! This was over 40 hrs ago so I should imagine it’s not half as dangerous to work with nowadays! Now you’ve got me thinking about having it done to my floors!!! 😂🥰🤔
You are the Granite master. nice technique at the end. I may use this over my crappy black matte ikea countertop i just put in. I assume the epoxy is very durable and keeps the surface glass fairly well over time?
Good job Mitch! It's hard to say whether to add more veins or not because there are so many options with epoxy. I usually start simple such as your black & white, then decide to keep or add more color. Very informative video, thank you!
Mitch, I like the amount of veins and wouldn't of added more! Looks high end. Did you add veins right after you poured the black or was there a waiting period?
Your Rocking it Mitch, taught by the Epoxy guru Artist himself Mike. Im Inspired by your work Mitch…… want to order im in Australia im hoping u ship world wide …. Hey guys. Love your videos. I’m looking to do a one piece vanity sink in white marble. Because the sink is in place, how would you suggest doing it? If you have a video to go to please advise. Thank you
I would off flicked just a couple a gold dots of gold all over make it pop and walked away ..would a been masterpiece..but still is a amazing way u left it sir also..love from dublin ireland..stone coat bros ,,best in the game..cheers to that brother🎉🎉❤❤
I did this for the sweet flowing white water looking veins, after using the silver veins in a can spray for mine. It looks great. Some simple thin silver veins. A few simple white veins. And then some fat opened up veins. Love it. BTW Mike. Love the beard.
I love this.. so ready to start exploring this technique. Seen many of RK3 Designs videos and after seeing many of yours....I need to get me a kit! Mitch the black and white is awesome. would love to see it in red and white.
More color would be interesting especially like a gold or copper but this black and white is beautiful. Comes down to personal preference. The black and white is great for a fancy look and additional colors would make it a little more fun and whimsical
Question: If I have old mdf countertops with slight bubbling under the laminate, could I just epoxy on top or would I need to completely rebuild the countertops?
The piece looks amazing! I'm really getting into epoxy projects now. I'm planning on building a desk. So would I get the same dark, piano like black if I poured over wood that I had not painted yet? Or do I need to paint it first? any paint ok to use?
I think I would have liked more grey and silver to it. I've not seen that much marble, but what I have seen rarely has a lot of straight black or white. Maybe that is only really high end? But you looked like you were having fun playing with the veins!! 🤗
I did have some fun with this one! If I do one like this again, I'd add at least a couple more subtle accent colors in the veins, thanks for watching Karen!
Laura this one is really easy to replicate! If the torch make us nervous, u can use a heat gun! You Got This Girl!!!!! Let me know how to help you gain the confidence to try it out, I promise you'll love it!
Question regarding topcoat. Before the topcoat the countertops always shine beautifully like marble. Once the topcoat goes on it adds a milky kind of plastic look to it and to detracts from what it was. How can you maintain the original clear shine pre toocoat
I have a question. I have tile back splash in my kitchen. I hate it. If I want to do stonecoat back splash and countertops and them to look seamless what depth of mdf do I use and do you cut out outlet areas before or after finishing? Also do you put the top coat on prior to install?
When you did a rock face project, you taped the perimeter of the top to prevent the epoxy from running off and then 3 hours later removed the tape and let the "thicker" epoxy flow down the edge. Can you do that with a flat face, like the one in this video?
Thanks for watching everyone! Let me know if I can help u get a project started 👍
Thanks Mitch, good work bud!
So is it 3oz of each part A and Part B per square ft or a combo to make 3oz per sq ft? Your videos are the best epoxy designs around
@@ryanwheeler4245 1.5 Oz of A and 1.5 Oz of B. Total of 3 ounces per square foot
