Our company does this stuff as a add on service. We’ve been in business for 29 years and I can tell you folks with money and who live in high end homes ARE NOT having epoxy coated countertops done in their homes. After ready many of the comments and understanding the pros and cons, I still think epoxy countertops are a great option when granite, etc. are not in the budget. @@StoneCoatCountertops after watching a bunch of your videos I think I'll start with the thrift store epoxy art. It's small enough to practice on without spending too much, plus I work at a thrift store. I'll have free reign over wall art to choose from.

Man I’ve wanted to do this in my kitchen since we bought our house. Wood, Epoxy, color and all supplies what does a job like this typically cost to build?? Absolutely gorgeous
I’m sure this isn’t hard to research but I would guess cheaper than even something premade at Lowes, not to mention what it would cost to pay someone to do the job and install it.
This is my first time seeing one of your videos and I'm really impressed. Thanks much for sharing these techniques and ideas. Just awesome! I need to buy more tools and try this epoxy process. Outstanding!
What I would like to know is the total cost of material for this countertop please? Also, more detail of changing the strip of light if necessary after installation?
@@SedaUgurSedaChan epoxy isn't cheap but it's thousands cheaper than getting a whole sheet of stone installed. I wld say he spent less than 900 on all materials . A stone countertop w lights w cost u around 3-5k easily
Nice work, I also understand that the resin was then treated on the surface to better adapt to a worktop, however I love working with the resin I love the final effect of the chromatic shine the magic that is created with the addition of colored pigments I paint resin paintings and gives me a lot of satisfaction ciao 😊
The odds of me making something like is close to zero. That being said, I loved your video and I am gonna watch more. Never know, I just might make something.
It could be more shiny but then also prone to being scratched up so there is fine line there between shiny and honed anyways I thought more people are steering to white counters
@@eddieworley3409 Like the man pointed out in the video the colour can be changed later to suit changes in fashions over time. Which is something you cannot do with an expensive (and heavy) piece of marble or stone.
I am always inspired by your teaching videos and would love to try these techniques on my own countertop. The under lighting is stunning and gives an ambiance that is unlike anything I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and creative styles to help others create their own masterpieces.
I enjoyed watching the whole process, although I found it prettier in some stages, before it was done. But it was very exciting to see the application of all the different techniques. Are the LED lights accessible from somewhere outside, so you don’t have to remove the whole countertop, if they don’t work any longer, and you have to exchange them, at some point?
I'm thinking they are not accessible but because of what it is, they could easily cut a new hole only slightly bigger and fix that issue down the road if they aren't.
Nice job! As for the led lighting (I’ve done dozens of pro installations) I recommend using a layer of heavy duty 3M double side tape or some other adhesive to secure the strip. The adhesive that comes in the back of most commonly available led strips will come loose with the heat from the lights after a few months depending on how much use they get. Even if they last a little longer they eventually fail. I had to redo many of my earlier installations because of that. Once I started adding the extra adhesive I never had to waste time fixing loose strips again.
I was thinking the same thing, given that they had the thing turned over to trim the excess epoxy, how long would it have taken to finish the edges to a decent standard.
@@StoneCoatCountertops for the underneath I’d have gone with a black maybe. Just like you did with the top side of the worktop when you primed it👍good work though fellas! Never seen anything like it until now
@@StoneCoatCountertops It would be very nice if some low-key color work were done on the back too -- at least, the overhangs AND the rest of the back could be done in clear epoxy to protect the wood. Also, it would have been great if the hole for the faucet were cut out before itself (perhaps, slightly larger) to allow the colors to flow over the edges of the hole, thus sealing and protecting the wood. A larger hole would make it seem as if the stone top were real.
Honestly its a resin so you gotta be real careful. No dragging a pot when theres grains of salt on it and be careful with metal stuff. Some epoxy can be pretty durable but if this was my house id habe gone for a wooden top, maybe a bit more expensive but whatever
Did you delete your reply? It shows in my notifications but not here. Anyways there are special tabletop epoxys that are more heat ajd scratch resistant and supposedly are able to handle 300c but i still wouldnt take the gamble on sucj an expensive part. But do your own research and see what you can come up with or just do some experiments :)
@@StoneCoatCountertops I'd like some combination of light & dark grays, black and a vein or two of turquoise for contrast. That would be modern and awesome.

@@StanHowse Actually, 40 seconds are 1.67% of 40 minutes. That means 1670% more than you estimated. But you are right, why didn't they show the LED lighting?!
I remember the tool we used to get a rock face edge when I worked in the granite countertop industry. I'd choose MDF and Epoxy any day of the week, that thing was terrifying.
This was fabulous!!! Great colors, plus I love blue 💙 A few questions about the lights. Are they a plug in strip and can they be turned off? What happens if they stop working?
Great questions! Yes, the LED lights can be turned off or unplugged. They are strips of led lights that come with double sided tape. They are applied to the bottom in their own section underneath the void they can be easily replaced.
What a beautiful countertop. I’ve been interested in learning how to do this and your videos will surely help. Thanks for a beautiful and wonderful DIY project. Looking forward to seeing more of your work’
Wow. That's really impressive and the end result is incredible. How does an epoxy countertop hold up (to heat, scratching, staining, etc...) compared to more "traditional" materials?
I am totally blown away....I am subscribed and I am ready to learn as much as I can from you guys. How long did it take you to be proficient at creating the works of art you create. It is so awesome that your offering to teach people how to get to your level... well maybe I have had to retire from being a contractor for the last 30 years so I am opening my woodshop to the public. I have built basic woodworker items for family and friends but never sold anything publically. That is going to change and having the ability to create projects that I hope to someday be as beautiful as what you produce is another iron in the fire so to speak. I would say $4500 - $5500 dollars for a piece of stone with the colors infused in this piece. That is a total guess because I have never purchased a slab of any kind. Did you say that the final epoxy finish can stand up to 375 degrees of heat without damaging the finish or was it more or less. My brain is firing on all cylinders, swimming in possible things that I could possibly create. I am almost ready to buy a 4' x 8' cnc router so I could just make basic signs and epoxy in the letters. I am sure they would sell. I am very interested in using the epoxy system for doing inlay work connected to designs built on the cnc router. Create unique front entry doors with inlaid epoxy's..etc...... the builds are endless. Your imagination will be the only thing holding you back because you can create some very unique items. Thanks for taking the time to teach all of us out here in Tube land. I really appreciate the effort it takes to shoot the videos and create a well produced video like you produce and they are very well made with a straight forward format. The video doesn't have a bunch of wasted time like some of the other "free" videos out there. The one thing is the constant 8 chords the guitar guy was playing did get a little annoying but that's a small price to pay for what you are teaching. Peace
Great video! You guys are so creative and it makes me jealous that I have to work a regular 9 to 5 and not get to use my hands and fun tools. Thank you for another awesome video.
Maybe the best island I've seen y'all do yet. Love the night-light feature. What is the life expectancy of that LED strip? And would you have to remove the entire top to replace it? Also, is there a switch on the island to turn it off and on, or does it stay on, or operate via a optic light sensor?

It does look a bit off from the rest I agree something could be done to fix that
Rite...I would look AMAZING with blue cabinets!
I just was saying this lol, the tan wood looks tacky I would do a light grey.
I personally love the cabinets. Each to their own.
BEAUTIFUL Great Job
Always enjoy watching you guys work your different ideas. If I (when I) were to do this to my kitchen or bathroom, I would roll a bit of dark color more or less to match the main color, underneath so as to not have it stand out as plywood. Other than this, great job and thanks!
Yes! I totally agree. At the very least, they could've painted it black.
Very artsy and incredible work. Never will be as cool as Mother Nature though.
I've been watching stuff on epoxy for a while now and tried a few small things with made moulds but watching this is next level! I'm literally at part of life that I'm sick of with a dead end literally job just costing my life no fun no motivation atall its shit! I immediately subscribed and will be watching alot more of your things hopefully smaller stuff for me to try out and try build a business for myself and get my life back. Ti's bidet had me without blinking and rewinding all the way through great job guys 👍
You guys are the bomb keep it coming
You guys are amazing! I promise we will be speaking soon with design’s for my house, (Dream Home). Also I want to point this out, reading through the comments and seeing how you love and speak to the viewer’s is something else. I promise I’ve never seen that hardly ever. Thank you for the trades and craftsmanship your teaching us all!!!
Hi
Oh my lord...this is stunning, love it...I could not imagine what this would cost, but I love this and it doesn't seem like it would break the bank....Awesome job!
I don't know how this ended up in my feed, but I watched every second. I even went back to rewatch a few parts. Excellent job, first video I've seen that makes me feel I can do this. You did a great job explaining the process for us inexperienced DIYers
You Got This! Thank you for taking the time to watch and for your support🙌 Do you have any projects in mind?
@@StoneCoatCountertops after watching a bunch of your videos I think I'll start with the thrift store epoxy art. It's small enough to practice on without spending too much, plus I work at a thrift store. I'll have free reign over wall art to choose from.
Most beautiful .Lovely .
Love how you leave nothing to chance, except the artistic patterns. This includes the extra masking to eliminate more of the human error factor.
And specifically the artistic pattern went wrong 100%.
Love the kitchen. Me personally would've loved to see the island as a gloss look instead of a matte look. But very nice job.
With the satin look it definitely took from all the time and hard work and the absolute beautiful piece of art work it was... It lost depth and that 3d effect..it was depressing to see the end
Love the feedback Josh thank you so much! Stay tuned🙌
Dude that is AMAAAAAAAAAAZING. I can't wait till I'm not renting and I can go wild with this stuff. So inspirational.
Thank you so much for your support! Right on, when the time comes please do not hesitate to give us a call. We are happy to help
I know right,my wife wants to learn all about this
Beautiful work
Beautiful countertop, it just doesn’t mesh well with the wood cabinetry, it’s a mix of modern with an antique layout
Exactly. That just took several thousand off the price of that home if it were on the market.
Yeah thought the same but customers wish
@@simonelliot3712 Exactly
@@musicianluca True that
Bro, the craftsmanship is fantastic, but holy shit is that a tacky kitchen countertop
I have to admit that watching you pour the epoxy I'm thinking that, no way this thing is gonna be that nice, but you certainly impressed me on the final product! Wonderful work there!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and to comment🙏 Do you have any projects you'd like to see next?
Amazing work guys congratulations I'm a contractor and often doing remodeling I'm definitely starting to get into the epoxy really beautiful work and less expensive than granite 👍
Amazing me an my uncle are doin a countertops for a tiny house. This build is very impressive
I used to fabricate and install granite countertops for over 10 years and it's crazy seeing 2 guys carry that island in with such ease, lol! I remember having to install pieces that you weren't even sure how you were going to be able to get it into the house... so nerve racking
*ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! Thank you!*
Gotta love these guys' passion for their trade. The craftsmanship alone is very admirable.
Wow thank you so much George! We would love to see your creations my friend🙌
Absolutely right, the fact they are showing us for free is mind blowing. Everyone wants something for less. Couldn’t say it better myself sir.
Man I’ve wanted to do this in my kitchen since we bought our house. Wood, Epoxy, color and all supplies what does a job like this typically cost to build?? Absolutely gorgeous
I want to know the same thing. I’m getting ready to buy a house and I am seriously thinking of doing something like this.
I’m sure this isn’t hard to research but I would guess cheaper than even something premade at Lowes, not to mention what it would cost to pay someone to do the job and install it.
Good work guys.
love from Dubai.
This is my first time seeing one of your videos and I'm really impressed. Thanks much for sharing these techniques and ideas. Just awesome! I need to buy more tools and try this epoxy process. Outstanding!
That is so awesome, welcome Keith! You Got This, we can not wait to see your work. Please let us know if you have any questions 💪
What I would like to know is the total cost of material for this countertop please? Also, more detail of changing the strip of light if necessary after installation?
epoxy is pretty expensive ...count with 500 and higher only for epoxy
It's not as expensive as coffeeaddict said
@@SedaUgurSedaChan epoxy isn't cheap but it's thousands cheaper than getting a whole sheet of stone installed.
I would rather see a more shiny top. I think the counter top is to dull for me personally. However, I think you did a fantastic job.
Thanks for the feed back! Would you try something like this with a gloss finish?
It could be more shiny but then also prone to being scratched up so there is fine line there between shiny and honed anyways I thought more people are steering to white counters
I agree I think they should have put a shinier surface to make it look more like a polished granite surface
@@eddieworley3409 Like the man pointed out in the video the colour can be changed later to suit changes in fashions over time.
Which is something you cannot do with an expensive (and heavy) piece of marble or stone.
I was thinking that to, a good glossy clear top coat or maybe even a polish would of made the colors stand out and pop
I am always inspired by your teaching videos and would love to try these techniques on my own countertop. The under lighting is stunning and gives an ambiance that is unlike anything I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and creative styles to help others create their own masterpieces.
I so so much love your teaching but I don't know where I can get the material am in Nigeria
Please 🙏 help me out to buy the materials
Very awesome counter top!! That cut out is amazing!! 👏👏
Agreed! I liked how the LED dots didn't show through in the final install shots
@@flyingrogue8550 I know!! Just stunning!!
Thank you so much! Would you have changed anything?
@@StoneCoatCountertops Other than liking white marble more, no not really. It works well with that space! 👏👏
Absolutely beautiful. 💙 the lighting, blues, blacks, silvers are the best. Would love to see possible outdoor furniture.
So glad you enjoyed it, thank you so much for your feedback🙌 Stay tuned my friend
I agree. Looked much nicer in earlier stages. But finished product is still awesome. 👌
Yep, fiber optic punched through with an accessible light source makes more sense.
This is great. I don't know if I would want to do this myself but I definitely would buy one!
your video is good, The best I ever seen. Everything is clear, I subscribed few minutes. All the way from South Africa🙌
This is fantastic. Had always wondered how it's done. Thanks, I now know. The Key is where to get these ingredients.
Okay, this was just incredible.
Some of the coloration kind of reminds me of labradorite, which is probably my favorite type of stone.
Bro this is too cool man I just want to try it out !!!!!!
Looks brilliant! Amazing job👍However I would have left the bottom of the worktop in a painted finish instead of leaving it in bare wood.
I was thinking the same thing, given that they had the thing turned over to trim the excess epoxy, how long would it have taken to finish the edges to a decent standard.
Good idea! Would you have also changed the color?
Thanks for such a great Master Class! Lots of information and absolutely gorgeous results!
It is our absolute pleasure, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. What would you like to see next?
How durable is the countertop as far as scratches go? Did the LED lights have an on/off switch? Beautiful project!
YOU GUYS ARE MASTERS OF THE CRAFT.... FOR SURE.... THAT IS JUST AWSOME... BEAUTIFUL....
Love this! It would make an awesome computer desk top as well! Especially that subtle LED lighting. Nice work!
Your right! Would you apply a combination of colors or just one solid color?
@@StoneCoatCountertops I'd like some combination of light & dark grays, black and a vein or two of turquoise for contrast. That would be modern and awesome.
I have learned more in watching three of your build videos than I have in the past five years of my own builds. Thanks so much guys and Happy Holidays to you and yours. May this be the most wonderful Christmas Season you have ever known.

One thing certain, if they don't have massive airflow through the shop, they are happy assed campers.
Epoxy resin does not have any of the fumes polyester resin does
They all high af in studio
Absolute artistry! Your creativity, talent and skill are amazing. Picaso who?
Awesome guys, learned alot on this video. Thanks!
Why didn’t you show the led lighting after the project was finished?
I wanted to see it with the room dark.
they did
@@mattallen4408 No they didn't.. The video is 40 min long... They showed the counter top, fully finished, for 40 seconds. That's not even 0.1% of the video.
@@StanHowse Actually, 40 seconds are 1.67% of 40 minutes. That means 1670% more than you estimated.
But you are right, why didn't they show the LED lighting?!
They did show it. Even if it wasn't as long as you wanted, your comments is incorrect.
I remember the tool we used to get a rock face edge when I worked in the granite countertop industry. I'd choose MDF and Epoxy any day of the week, that thing was terrifying.
Thanks guys this is amazing good job..
Beautiful! It would definitely take me longer by myself, but I definitely could do it! Thanks for the tutorial !
You can’t do shit.
This was fabulous!!! Great colors, plus I love blue 💙
A few questions about the lights.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work’
Gorgeous!!!
Wow. That's really impressive and the end result is incredible. How does an epoxy countertop hold up (to heat, scratching, staining, etc...) compared to more "traditional" materials?
It does NOT. If you want oil based epoxy in your food then use this arts and crafts junk as a kitchen countertop.
I am totally blown away....I am subscribed and I am ready to learn as much as I can from you guys. How long did it take you to be proficient at creating the works of art you create.
It is so awesome that your offering to teach people how to get to your level... well maybe
I have had to retire from being a contractor for the last 30 years so I am opening my woodshop to the public.
That is art, beautiful art!
Maybe the best island I've seen y'all do yet. Love the night-light feature.
What is the life expectancy of that LED strip? And would you have to remove the entire top to replace it? Also, is there a switch on the island to turn it off and on, or does it stay on, or operate via a optic light sensor?
Leds last pretty much forever under ideal conditions and it doesnt get much better than under this top lol
@@D3nn1s my question is are the LED straps mounted inside the pour?
@@robertray1344 The LEDs are mounted to the island and the top is secured to the island with two screws and a bead of silicone. It could be lifted to replace the LEDs with a few strong guys/gals.
25000 hrs is typical for decent LEDS
Not sure how this type of video made it into my algorithm lol but I just watched the entire video and I have to say, fantastic job 💯 I would have thought it would be more shiny but I know nothing of this trade so idk
I feel like I learned a lot just from watching
This looks so good! My only critique is that next time use some diffusers on the led strips helps remove hot spots and blend the colour better
Nice work... starting at 5k for that size. Made & Installed! Whole kitchen 20k easy....
