** The Baofeng UV-5G Plus score is reduced to 74 due to an incorrect IP rating, the correct one is IPX4, not IP54 . Also, it is currently $68 a pair on Amazon, not $50.

Love how you did the video with the spread out on the table and on the computer great job. Tidradio gen 2 would have to be my favorite
I can highly recommend Wouxun radios as I have been using various models for well over 10 years and they have never missed a beat. Highly reliable with great performance.
I've been eyeballing the BTECH GMRS-PRO. I think your review confirmed that I will end up buying this model as my first GMRS radio.
I've got three, great radios and quality. Only fault is the batteries don't charge the best and don't accept usbc to usbc; only from usbA, and the battery indicator isn't very accurate. However, the battery lasts longer than claimed. Other than that, it's a great radio.
Great comparison video. As a new GMRS licensee, I have really been delving into the various brands and their GMRS offerings. Really impressed with the Wouxun KG-935G Plus and the BTECH GMRS Pro. Was surprised at how much clearer the BTECH was than the other radios. The texting and location sharing, Bluetooth, GPS and IP rating features really stand out for the BTECH. Looks like a great radio.
Great Vid.. I have the Tidradio H8 and love it so far
Super impressive video! 100% subscribed!
The retevis HA1G gmrs radio is my favorite right now followed the TidRadio H8 and thank you for the giveaway and the entry.
Thanks for the video man! Really helpful. FYI, you tested the UV-5G plus but when you did the factor score you showed the regular UV-5G and its price.
Love my H8, and someday I'll pickup that GMRS Pro. Your video has definitely made me interested in the baofeng for sure.
The BTECH sounded so crisp and clear, and it's jam packed with cool features, but the Rocky Talky was not far behind in terms of clarity, yet it looks quite more robust and utilitarian, like something that would survive real use. Great comparison overall, man! Keep up the good work, I really appreciate such useful videos!
A nice video. I have been using these radios for years. It's FM voice in the UHF range, but the cost for advance features has come way down. Some chip differences in how speech is processed and display differences change how the info is presented, but science is science. The five-mile distance is rarely achievable at ground level with buildings in the way. Expect about a mile, unless one radio is high enough to have line-of-site to the other radio (or they are both high enough to be free of obstructions). At that point you are at the mercy of the radios' power and antenna. Those are nice, fancy radios in the $150 and $200 dollar range, but unless you are made of money, there's no reason to spend that for these radios, especially if you have to buy one for each member of the family. The $35 Baofeng is fine, and they are generally pretty tough. I've had one bouncing around in my truck for years, and another has traveled all over the country with me. I've lost a few too, dropped some on the trail, off my bike, etc. That's a lot more acceptable at $35 a unit than $150. A different, more efficient antenna, and one that has a cable and can be operated away from your RF-absorbing head, will increase range significantly, with much more bang for the buck than spending money on the other features. Finally, there's a lot more to using these radios than just pushing the button. People with mess with you, so learn how to use them, develop a plan for what to do if you are being interfered with, have a plan for frequency changes, privacy codes used, etc. Maybe you need to stop communicating for a bit and change channels, etc., but plan that in advance and practice it a few times.
Thanks for another great video!! Loving the Rocky Talkie for the simple form factor and what seems like the most durable out of the bunch.
I like the Cobra radios myself. awesome video!
Perfect timing. I originally picked up a couple of Baofengs as my entry into GMRS, but now I’m looking for something more durable.
Wouxon.
Outstanding information. Thank you.
The Wouxon seems to be my favorite from the list! Great video overall though, thanks for the detailed breakdown!
Thanks for the review!
Awesome review. Super helpful
Thanks for doing the review! Always good to see. From what you posted, the Wouxun KG-935G Plus look like they would be great to use. Thanks and fingers crossed!
Since my first GMRS radio is a Baofeng GMRS-9R (essentially dust/water proof), I'm used to its sound (which is pretty good) and was able to communicate over a 100' hill to the other radio almost a mile away, which amazed me (my FRS handhelds did NOT communicate across the same hill.) Since I do a lot of outdoor hiking and such the BTECH would be my choice (but I'm happy with my 9R too if I had a separate GPS/compass unit with me)
My Btech is also my favorite radio! Thanks for the reports
Good comparison! Thank you.
BTECH GMRS Pro is what I just purchased, and excited to see how well it’ll work. Next is the repeater installation.
I have the KG935G and I love it. Next is BTech pro and wouxun uv9d
The baofeng is the best bang for your buck, imo. The btech has a ton of great features and is on my wishlist, but I'm on a baofeng budget😅. I almost believe that the couple uv-5r's that I have for hiking are near bullet proof after all the stuff I've put them through 😂.
Great video. I have several of the GMRS PROs. They are not cheap but Bluetooth pairing, GPS, easy programming via your smartphone and great features that others just don’t have.
I really like the Rocky Talkie, seems really well built and I think the simplicity of it is really nice!
It really Like the QUANSHENG .... It looks great and has ALL those OPTIONS!!!!! AWESOME
The Baofeng seems to be a good way to start to learn grms at a reasonable price.
The Wouxon kg-935g would be my first pick
I have the Rocky Talky 5w. Just used it while out in Big Bend National Park and did not have any issues.
I like the last baofang in the list. I have 2 tidradios but would like to upgrade. Thanks, great video.
I’m a fan of the wouxan 935g - been eyeing that one for a while.
Great information in this video, really enjoyed it.
The Baofeng seems to be a great way to start to learn grms. Great video!
Wow, that is such a great review ! I like the Btech a lot, very well done ! Count me in for this giveaway ! Cheers
BTECH GMRS PRO is my preferred. Thanks for this comparative video.
Great comparison video my friend👍
BTECH looks solid
I'd go with Baofeng because of the price point. Thanks for the thorough run down.
Thank you for creating such a useful video that makes it easier for people to choose what type of radio suits their wishes and thanks for the giveaway, my favorite radio BTECH GMRS-PRO. We wish all good luck
The Baofeng is my favorite. Best bang for the buck.
The Btech caught my attention. Thanks for the comparison.
cool thing about the BTECH GMRS Pro is you can hook up your AirPods to them and they work great
Thanks US! I have the Wouxun KG935 due to its wide band receive and programmable channels.
Thats great! Thank you for watching Greg!
The BTECH GMRS PRO would be an upgrade to our Baofeng Radios ✅ 💯 Thanks for the information 👌
Very good reviews and explanations, all radios look very good and have their own advantages and other supporting features, if I was given a choice I would choose BTECH GMRS PRO because after testing and comparison it has the best score, and of course every price list there will be quality to be obtained
Bought the midland a few years ago and have never had any issues. Use it on hiking trips with my daughters. Simple. Effective. Inexpensive.
The nice thing about your license, is it opens up repeaters, so if you're in a city with a repeater you should have many miles to connt around.
My favorite on was the wouxun kg-935g plus
I would agree with most of what you said. I own several of the radios in this review, but i would have to disagree with you on the ailunce ha1g. Its fairly simple to use out the box if you are just a standard gmrs user, but if you want to go into details, its packed with a lot that gets overlooked. It has multiple zones to you can program frequencies to based off location or how frequent you use them. For example if you have several custom DIY channels that you have ctcss tones programmed into you can set all those into a zone to quick scroll through. You can have a zone labelled as repeaters, and have all the repeaters programmed into that zone. Etc…. Or you can program zones based off different repeaters in a particular area, like if you are traveling and know you will be passing by certain repeaters on your trip, you can program a zone that has those repeaters all in it separate from your others…. Its a nice way of organizing and planning. It also has call lists that work with dtmf tones when linking nodes. You can preprogram the node command and node hub numbers that you regularly use in the call lists. I have my aux button under the PTT programmed for call lists. Then whenever i want to link your node with a hub, i literally push that button, it pops up with all my programmed node commands, and i click the one i want to link and it automatically sends dtmf tones and programs it without having to PTT and manually type it in. The ailunce also allows you to customize each channel individually. You can set your squelch different on each channel. You can set your bandwidth different on each channel, tail squelch eliminator different on each channel, etc….. its actually a very complex radio once you dive into it and does many things the others cant do. Yeah it may work for a beginner who just picks a pre programmed gmrs channel and uses it as is…. But out of all besides the btech gmrs pro, id be willing to say it is the most advanced function wise. Its basically an analog gmrs version of the DMR HA1 radio ailunce makes.
I getting mine today. You're totally right about zones. It's great for grouping different citie's/area repeaters. Of course my Mom isn't gonna be pleased I got a new toy.
And if it's based on the H1, maybe it could do data in the future too. Pro does APRS apparently.
good comparison, I want a ROCKY TALKY 5W with easy use and very suitable for beginners and has IP-67 water resistance very good for outdoor activities, thanks and good luck
Personally, I’d go with the Baofeng UV-5. Mainly because of all of the content available for personalization. Thanks for these comparison videos. I find them extremely helpful.
Great choice, yea for the price they are incredible.
Let's face it, the Baofeng is just legendary.... Sometimes for all the wrong reasons! Personally, lovin' the Rocky Talkie 5W. Not the best, but definitely an excellent choice for Beginners. Another fantastic review video.
haha they sure are! It's incredible how much they offer for an afforable price. I do like the Rockie Talkeis alot though and they are suitable for my needs and look very cool too.
Since the Rocky Talkies are homodyne, they are way overpriced, especially for beginners, but I will give them a plus on being repeater capable, and do split tones.
The BTECH GMRS-Pro is the only radio with a built in simplex repeater function ("audio relay") and nobody ever talks about it.
My guess would be because most GMRS users are just talking to people they know. However in some areas some folks ar blending ham & GMRS together on repeaters like with NETS.
I have a bunch of Baofeng GMRS-9Rs and just ordered a Wouxun KG-UV9GX. My GMRS-9Rs all have Nagoya 771Gs on them and easily hit my local repeater that 16 miles line of sight inside my bedroom. On the Wouxun i ordered I also ordered a Smiley antenna but do have extra 771Gs and adapters if i dont like the Smiley. Too many GMRS radios to choose a favorite but out of thenones your showing i want to get a Btech GMRS Pro, Wouxan KG-935G Plus, and a Tidradio TD-H8. You can never have too many radios. Lol. If i had to choose which radio i would buy next it probably be a pair of BTech GMRS Pros. Gotta have two to take advantage if the GPS feature.
BTech would be my choice, but all of them do seem to be great though. Thanks for the video and also thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
Awesome comperison, mate
Count me in for the BTECH pro 🤞
Good video. I like the wouxun
The BTECH GMRS Pro is my favorite radio; the runner-up would be TIDRADIO TD-H8.
The Rocky Talkie looks like a nice package with ease of use and smaller footprint. 😊. Unfortunately, only the 2w Midland is useable in Canada without a license.
Like most I like the Baofeng due to price and compatibility with all my accessories
Very good reviews, in my opinion btech GMRS Pro is the best radio among the other seven
BTECH GMRS PRO is my favorite from the list
Great comparison as always my friend...keep up the awesome content
Sign me up for the BTECH pro radio
BTECH GMRS PRO excellent features and my choice, Excellent comparison, very educational and helpful.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching!
the btech does look very nice
The BTECH GMRS Pro is my favorite radio
I would go with Baofeng because i think it's great value for the money
The Baofeng is my favorite due to the great price/performance.
BTech seemed a clear winner. Awesome comparison.
Does anybody have a problem on baofeng radios to where they constantly give you static no matter what your squelch is set to?
It’s as if the squelch setting does nothing.
I’m wondering if the Btech or Wouxon radios have this issue?
I have three Baofeng 2m-70cm ham HT's, all different models. they work great for distance on transmitting and receiving through a repeater. but they are terrible on receiving interference when using simplex, far from any man made source deep into the national forest. I was hesitant on getting a Icom or Yaesu HT because of this, until I got the Wouxun KG-UV9GX. Wouxun has much better filtering. I can place them side by side with all the Baofengs on while driving around the forest and only the Baofengs receive this intermittent interference on the same frequency.
First comment!
I personally really like the Btech. It just seems to have a lot of great features and seems to be built pretty tough as well.
Thanks for being so quick to comment! Thats a great radio and I appreciate your support. Good luck on the giveaway!
I've heard some good reviews of the Rocky Talkies, I'd go with them
Hey, I drew you as the winner of the Rockie Talkies! Please send me an email at urbanpreppergearguide@gmail.com to arrange shipping.
Great video as always mate
Sign me up for the BTech
I would have to go with the Baofeng simply for the price. Thank you.
Btech GMRS pro is my absolute favorite
Wouxun KG-935G plus is my cup of tea
The BTECH GMRS PRO is my favorite
Well it seems to me that the Baofeng is by far the best value. This is what I will buy for local off-road and camping trips. The Rocky Talky however has a real benefit for Overlanders due to its inconspicuous appearance. The other radios look too paramilitary or police tactical to not be flagged at a border crossing.
The Rocky Talky 5w GMRS Is my favorit radio from the list
Except you're paying heterodyne prices for homodyne radio. At least they do repeaters & split tones.
The BTECH GMRS Pro looks dope
I really like the Btech GMRS-pro
The BTECH pro caught my attention
In the range test, it would be best to spread the devices out from each other to reduce interference
Rocky talkie 5w for its size, talkpod looks nice with airband rx
Not sure if it’s been talked about in here but I’d love to see a video or hear your take on the Rugged Radios GMR2+ Handheld radio.
Wouxon KG-935G plus 🤞
Btech would be my choice
Great video as always
My favorite is the Baofeng UV-5G
The BTech GMRS pro would be my first pick
good video as usual, i like rocky talkie-5w for outdoor activities like hiking or camping and it seems like it's really good to help communicate with other friends, please put me in giveaway list
I really like Btech GMRS-pro
Baofeng uv-5G looks great and sound great
The BTECH GMRS pro for sure
As GMRS radios go, Wouxon makes the best by far. They are a little more expensive but they're worth it. The others are all playing for second place. Never, ever consider the bubble pack radios from Midland or motorola. Those are toy radios that can transmit at a very low frequency on gmrs frequencies, but they cannot be used with repeaters. Nor can the antennas be replaced for better transmission.
I love the gmrs pro for the cool factor, but I feel like it’s really only useful if you’re using it with others that have the same radio
Only for the data part.
I'd get the Retevis ailunce HA1G
Need to add the TidRadio TD-H3 to the list now. It’s better than the H8 in every way.
I liked Rocky Talkie 5w the best
